He was so beautiful in As Good as It Gets
How come Greg Kinnear didn't become a bigger actor?
by Anonymous | reply 84 | February 26, 2020 1:13 PM |
He's bigger than 99% of actors out there.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | January 27, 2020 9:07 PM |
That fetish movie he did about actor Bob Crane did him in.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | January 27, 2020 9:08 PM |
He was cute, but not very charismatic. Did he ever carry a movie?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | January 27, 2020 9:08 PM |
He's done a few Christian movies and that sort of pegs you in a B list career narrative.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 27, 2020 9:14 PM |
I think it’s because some people still remember him as the host of Talk Soup on the E! network. I’ve heard many jokes about it on other TV shows, many people never took him seriously because of that. I do like him as an actor, but he could be a bit more charismatic though.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 27, 2020 9:29 PM |
R1 That’s true. And he also received an Oscar nomination. Many A- list stars don’t have that.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 27, 2020 9:36 PM |
Oh, and also that film he did about the guy who invented intermittent windshield wipers. Who cares?? So two bombs destroyed what he had built.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | January 27, 2020 9:38 PM |
He didn't age well either. But I think he has come as far as he possibly could, from his E! Network stint.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 27, 2020 9:44 PM |
Maybe Disney can cast him in a dark and gritty reboot of [italic]Superdad[/italic].
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 27, 2020 9:45 PM |
He was good in a few things. I liked him in the Gift with Cate Blanchett. Is he a Trumpster?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | January 27, 2020 9:47 PM |
For every average white guy there is a DLer out there, somewhere, who thinks he's beautiful.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 27, 2020 9:48 PM |
I always liked him, both on Talk Soup and in films. That said, he's probably had a bigger career than might have been predicted--I doubt anyone imagined saying "Oscar-nominee Greg Kenner" (and I think he deserved the nomination and maybe the actual award--whatever drawbacks the film itself may have).
by Anonymous | reply 12 | January 27, 2020 9:49 PM |
He's in one episode of "The Stand." He's also 56 years old now, so there's that.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 27, 2020 9:55 PM |
He's a handsome guy and a pretty good actor, though I do think he can be a bit boring onscreen at times. I had a huge crush on him after seeing "The Gift" when I was a teenager. He was so fucking hot in that movie.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 27, 2020 9:55 PM |
Sam Jackson doesn't know why either. There was this article a few years back where the asshole journalist was trying to get Sam to be gard. Basically song and dance how bad of a motherfucker he was. This journalist said something snarky like "and well you're no where near a pansy actor like Greg Kinnear, right? You're a badass Sam!" and Sam just took it in stride and asked what Greg was up to. Said he was a fan of his Greg's work and heard he was going to do some Australian remake show he liked called the Rake or something.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | January 27, 2020 9:56 PM |
^*hard not gard
by Anonymous | reply 16 | January 27, 2020 9:57 PM |
[quote]That fetish movie he did about actor Bob Crane did him in.
He should have done full frontal in that one, it would have helped.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | January 27, 2020 10:01 PM |
Always had a crush on him. Stlll do.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | January 27, 2020 10:03 PM |
I would let him do things to me I can't even bring myself to type.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | January 27, 2020 10:10 PM |
Does anyone know what he's like in real life? Don't know why, but I always got a big douchebro vibe from him.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | January 27, 2020 10:10 PM |
I think the movie Sabrina somehow destroy his and Julia Ormond's careers.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | January 27, 2020 10:13 PM |
^^ destroyed ^^
by Anonymous | reply 22 | January 27, 2020 10:14 PM |
He was great in "Little Miss Sunshine" too
Seemed to have that "poor man's Bradley Cooper" space all to himself too-- good-looking 40ish suburban dad with a degree from a good but not great school, the kind of guy everyone likes immediately. Could easily see him married to Aniston (in a film) or similar.
No idea why his career sank.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | January 27, 2020 10:17 PM |
At least he didn't let himself go as much as some guys who were hot in the 1990s (this means you, Brendan Fraser).
by Anonymous | reply 24 | January 27, 2020 10:19 PM |
He's going to be 57 this year.
I had thought he was about ten years younger.
(No DLEG joke intended)
by Anonymous | reply 25 | January 27, 2020 10:21 PM |
I like him
by Anonymous | reply 26 | January 27, 2020 10:27 PM |
There’s a certain je nai se quoi. He’s attractive but seems asexual too.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | January 27, 2020 10:28 PM |
Didn’t suck the right cocks
by Anonymous | reply 28 | January 27, 2020 10:34 PM |
He was good in "Nurse Betty" - a film I loved, though it is now completely forgotten.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | January 27, 2020 10:52 PM |
I am "big"!
It's the pictures that got small...
by Anonymous | reply 30 | January 27, 2020 10:55 PM |
I used to lust after his feet
by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 27, 2020 10:56 PM |
He'll be playing the sizeable but ultimately uninteresting part of Glenn Bateman in the miniseries of "The Stand." In the novel (and original miniseries), Bateman is old--a retired professor of sociology (a very senior Ray Walston played him then). So i assume they'll be changing his character: very few professors retire at 56.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 27, 2020 11:06 PM |
My friend plays tennis with Greg's mom. I'll have her ask.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | January 27, 2020 11:09 PM |
greg came to a UA/tucson renaming of Arts/Film Dept at the Univ. circa '12. He spoke at a fundraiser about his years as a student in film/tv/ and was impressive....warm, genuine....i came away with a very positive impression. he's one of those who made an awful lot from relatively little.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | January 27, 2020 11:17 PM |
He lacks “oomph”.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | January 27, 2020 11:23 PM |
Those movie studio bitches never give you a chance to switch arts and become a film star!
by Anonymous | reply 36 | January 27, 2020 11:35 PM |
Like many good actors it's a matter of being in enough successful or critically acclaimed films to go big and remain there.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | January 28, 2020 12:13 AM |
He's beautiful.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | January 28, 2020 12:46 AM |
He played JFK a few years back in some TV movie made in Canada (where else). From certain angles, he was the best JFK lookalike I've ever seen.
Film was predictable but it did cover the tawdry shit like Kennedy's multiple affairs, etc. which most film bios of him didn't want to touch. Of course, the Kennedy family was not pleased ....
by Anonymous | reply 39 | January 28, 2020 12:55 AM |
Maybe he’s lazy and didn’t try hard.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | January 28, 2020 12:58 AM |
I have always liked him. Attractive and talented.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | January 28, 2020 1:57 AM |
You guys, where did he go now that you mention it?? I loved Greg Kinnear! I always thought he was incredibly handsome AND even charismatic. From Talk Soup onward. Great supporting actor! Little Miss Sunshine was wonderful. He's awesome.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | January 28, 2020 2:04 AM |
He was older when he finally hit. Now he's pretty fucking old. If he was a woman we wouldn't wonder. And the process wouldve started a lot earlier.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | January 28, 2020 2:11 AM |
He proved he could sing quite well in “Stuck On You”. Surprised he hasn’t been cast in a musical.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | January 28, 2020 2:19 AM |
I think he's aged beautifully. The man is 56 years old and he looks far better than most at that age. By the way, he's hot as fuck with facial hair.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | January 28, 2020 2:27 AM |
r45 I agree. He and I are exactly the same age and he's hot. I however, have to collect pieces of myself off the floor every time I get up in the morning.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | January 28, 2020 2:34 AM |
R42 Thank you! I forgot about Talk Soup. That's where I first saw him and fell in love. Did you see him in Ghost Town? Great performance. I think he's been underestimated.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | January 28, 2020 8:37 AM |
He obviously didn’t suck the right dicks
by Anonymous | reply 48 | January 28, 2020 9:00 AM |
I actually think just the opposite of what someone above said — very charismatic and charming (especially when he was playing characters that weren’t much of a stretch — usually smug types) but much beyond that wasn’t in his wheelhouse. But I think the fact is he just had too many movies that outright bombed and you’re given only so many chances.
Still, as someone who remembers him as one of the original E! Hosts (actually it was originally called Movietime — anyone else here know that?) he got quite far in the game and good for him. I’ve always liked him (though not in As Good As it Gets).
by Anonymous | reply 49 | January 28, 2020 9:03 AM |
Ask Matt Damon
by Anonymous | reply 50 | January 28, 2020 9:29 AM |
I squeeeeed when he popped up on Kimmy Schmidt, but inside because I'm jaded now.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | January 28, 2020 10:03 AM |
R45 He looks good Bec cause he hasn't has any PS he's kept all the wrinkles. Perhaps some botox on his forehead.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | January 28, 2020 10:35 AM |
He can only play a smarmy character that smirks constantly.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | January 28, 2020 10:41 AM |
[quote]He can only play a smarmy character that smirks constantly.
I despise those types
by Anonymous | reply 54 | January 28, 2020 10:41 AM |
God he is so damn cute. He doesn’t really turn me on but I would absolutely smother him in kisses. He’s an angel
by Anonymous | reply 55 | January 28, 2020 10:46 AM |
He's competent, but a tad bland.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | January 28, 2020 12:31 PM |
Gorgeous, absolutely physically beautiful. I think he's one of the few "men of Hollywood" who didn't play the gay game to get ahead and that was the end of a very promising huge career. Because of that, he had a mediocre but lucrative career and that was OK with him. True to himself; God bless him!
by Anonymous | reply 58 | January 28, 2020 12:38 PM |
Love him and wish her were in more things. I feel like I see the same actors in almost everything these days and it gets boring.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | January 28, 2020 12:41 PM |
Meryl Streep was in Stuck On You?
by Anonymous | reply 60 | January 28, 2020 12:49 PM |
From all outward appearances he seems like a good egg.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | January 28, 2020 12:53 PM |
Those bags under his eyes didn't help his career.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | January 28, 2020 12:55 PM |
The problem is the wife. I know they have been married for over 20 years. But he should be with me.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | January 28, 2020 12:55 PM |
Compared to 99% of Hollywood movie/tv people he's had a stellar career. The man has been steadily working since the late 80's.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | January 28, 2020 1:01 PM |
R62 Bags under his eyes?? WTF. He's gorgeous!
by Anonymous | reply 65 | January 28, 2020 1:04 PM |
I saw [italic]As Good as it Gets[/italic] when it came out and walked out of that theater with a teenage gay boy crush on him, but I haven't been able to watch the movie since the murder of Matthew Shepard: his character's attack hits too close to home. Luckily I saw the movie before that happened. I'm not blaming the movie, but the timing was just too coincidental for me to ignore.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | January 28, 2020 1:18 PM |
Who’s Matthew Shepard?
by Anonymous | reply 67 | January 28, 2020 1:24 PM |
I always thought he was very talented and had the looks and charm. He could do comedy and drama. He was hilarious in Stuck On You, perfect in Nurse Betty and incredibly charismatic in The Matador. Yes, I have a crush on him, but I think he became religious because of his wife. So, there's that.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | January 28, 2020 1:40 PM |
[quote] Yes, I have a crush on him, but I think he became religious because of his wife. So, there's that.
I hate those holier-than-thou fundie breeder bitches. As if it isn't bad enough what they did to Ricky Schroder, I would hate to see them destroy him similarly.

Greg Kinnear is going to make his Broadway debut in April, replacing Ed Harris as Atticus Finch in "To Kill a Mockingbird."
by Anonymous | reply 78 | February 25, 2020 10:42 PM |
Greg allegedly has a net worth of $20 million if sources online are to be believed.
So, he’s fine. He sends his love.

NatGeo did the Killing Kennedy movie several years back with Rob Lowe and Ginnifer Goodwin as JFK and Jackie and I thought they were worse than Greg and Katie in The Kennedys.
