Young Dorothy Zbornak

What do you think of the actress who played young Dorothy on the Golden Girls? A good choice for a younger Bea Arthur?

She was much better than the actress who played the young Sophia.

I believe the consensus is she was good, sometimes nailing Bea's mannerisms. I didn't see it and never quite cared for her.

Wasn’t that Lynnie Greene?

I know her from somewhere.

The better question is does that actress look like older Bea now?

by Anonymousreply 4January 25, 2020 1:50 AM

I liked her.

Great question, r4. I'm going to look into that now.

Hmm...hopefully this photo works. It's the only more recent pic I could find.

There's a photo of a young Lynnie Greene where she looks a great deal like Bea's military photo.

R6, thanks. I thought she did a good job. It would pretty hard to find someone better who shares Bea's very distinct look.

She was in a sitcom with Bess Armstrong in the 70's - On Our Own and they had good chemistry. Sort of a smarter, less bombastic Laverne and Shirley.

IMO, she was perfect: tall and with a similar voice.

by Anonymousreply 9January 25, 2020 3:18 AM

Yes, she was ideal for that part

by Anonymousreply 10January 25, 2020 3:29 AM

Adam Driver.

She had her mannerisms down and was believable physically and all that but there was just one problem ...she wasn’t funny. She was like the Dorothy Sophia would describe in that Comedy of Errors episode (but wasn’t really); bookish and deadly dull. The real Dorothy/Bea would have cut her a bitch.

The tranny who played the younger version of the old lady in the recent Tales of the City re-boot would make a great Bea.

You mean Jen Richards, r13, and she's an excellent actress. She deserves better than being called "the tranny."
