In a surprise move, MSNBC explains #DemocraticSocialism and details how "hallmarks" of Democratic Socialism are already part of the American ecosystem.
This needs to be watched by everyone.

Nope. Would rather have control over my own money especially in this day and age with age discrimination being so prevalent in the workplace and the threat of an increase in the retirement age to 70 and more cuts to the program. I'd like to know that I have access to my own funds whenever I leave the workforce, especially if I'm aged out early. A forced 401k or IRA with restrictions makes more sense today than an antiquated system that is designed to keep your full benefits away from you for as long as possible.

We're there! I keep having the discussion with my family about how the automakers bailout (which was paid back) is NOT socialism but the farmers bailout (which will NOT be paid back) IS socialism. And it's like explaining the Pythagorean theorem to my cat.
"No Fluffy, its the SQUARE of the hypotenuse. Why is this so hard to understand?"

Great. Now can someone please explain to me how adding MORE taxes on an overly taxed system will help us, and not hinder us? Hard, cold, economic plans were not introduced in this video, just more of bUt wE hAvE SOcIaliSm aLrEaDy thO!!

Yeah, I don't understand the love for social security on DL. Other countries have defined benefits plans where either workers and or their employers contribute and it works better than what we have with social security.

Why on earth would MSNBC feel obliged to do this?
I hope they do a segment on what a "Democrat" is, highlighting unions, minimum wages, Social Security, Medicare and Roe v. Wade in their little segment!
I doubt it.

Uhm, that is EXACTLY what Social Security IS, you numbskull!

R14
They did it because their job is to inform the public.
And democratic socialism is a subject on which a large segment of the population is massively misinformed, especially the poorly educated.
Read some of the comments about Warren and Sanders on here. If you believed their reactionary hysteria, the Scandinavian social democratic nations should look like fascistic post-apocalyptic wastelands instead of, you know, countries that score much higher on almost every metric of quality-of-life.
Fundamental, stubborn ignorance is the problem.

It's not, r16, its more like a 401K that people can start to withdraw on beginning at age 60. it also encourages people to save more of their own money.

The irony is that most of the best policies advocated by Karl Marx--the universal right to vote, equality for women, protections for workers from risks to life and health, a living wage--have been implemented long ago in the US and are only controversial among hardline right-wingers.
