Here's How Many Bernie Sanders Supporters Ultimately Voted For Trump
Fully 12 percent of people who voted for Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., in the 2016 Democratic presidential primaries voted for President Trump in the general election. That is according to the data from the Cooperative Congressional Election Study — a massive election survey of around 50,000 people. (For perspective, a run-of-the-mill survey measuring Trump's job approval right now has a sample of 800 to 1,500.)
Political science professor Brian Schaffner of University of Massachusetts, Amherst tweeted the data on Wednesday.
Schaffner's numbers show that after a bitter Democratic primary, more than 1 in 10 of those who voted in the primaries for the very progressive Sanders ended up voting for the Republican in the general election, rather than for the Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton.
What drove those voters to Trump? Schaffner dug into that, as well. What it wasn't was trade, an issue where Sanders was closer to Trump's philosophy than Clinton's. At least, the issue of trade didn't seem to have that much of an impact.

And if by some freaky chance Bernie is the nominee and his haters don't vote for him they are no better than the Bros who didn't vote for Hillary or who voted for Trump. Don't kid yourselves. You are no damn better. There is nothing, not your petty hatred of Bernie or Liz or whoever. We need to get Trump the fuck out or by what most in the know say it will be the last election we ever have. The country once known as the USA will be gone by 2024. It's not drama or Oh Mary, it's the truth.
No matter who the nominee is we vote for him or her. Maybe Bernie would pick a good VP. I doubt he'll make a full term any. Content yourself that even if you vote for him he won't be president for that long.
For god sake how can anyone still want to play these childish games when we see what Trump and McConnell and the rest are doing to this country. If you think maybe you have money and what he does won't hurt you, think again. Something he does in another 4 years will end up hurting you, bad.
Anyone who doesn't vote for whoever the Democrats nominate has to be such and evil fuck as selfish as they come. Believe me, you will be sorry. You will hate yourself. You think the 2016 Bernie supporters were so horrible and here you want to be just like them. WTF!!!

That's what it was with PUMAs back in 2008.
Many people misquote a survey saying 23% of Clinton voters in 2008 voted for McCain instead of Obama, but what they're quoting is a survey taken several months before the election, during the height of the PUMA craze. When the actual vote happened, only 10% of Clinton voters went McCain, and 10% is a very common "crossover" number.
That tells me that over half of the PUMAs in 2008 were actually Republicans anyway, or just trolls. I suspect many of the Bernie Or Bust Never-Hillaries are the same.

Oh, I see R28 misquoted the poll I was talking about.
You'll notice they never link to it. That's because it's clearly dated March 2008, EIGHT months before the election. I'll link to it since R28 won't, and you can see for yourself.
Just go to Wikipedia and you'll see that it was only 10% once Election Day came around, and they have several sources for that figure. It wasn't 28%.

[quote]doesn't this then also suggest that Bernie has cross-party appeal
The very first thing the article says is that Bernie has wide support amongst the 18-29 demographic -- who rarely vote -- and people "not interested in politics." They also rarely vote.
It also said that those who voted for Trump were 2 points more likely to vote for Biden in 2020 than Sanders.
What are you seeing that suggests Bernie has cross-party appeal that makes him more likely to draw in Republican votes? I don't see jack shit that says this, only Sanders supporters who claim it 24/7 but never actually have any proof.

But
[quote] Party seems to have had something to do with it — Sanders-Trump voters were much less likely than Sanders-Clinton or Sanders-third party voters to have been Democrats.
Because in many states, you don't need to be a Democrat to vote in our primary (or a Republican to vote in theirs. )
[quote] Schaffner tells NPR that around 12 percent of Republican primary voters (including 34 percent of Ohio Gov. John Kasich voters and 11 percent of Florida Sen. Marco Rubio voters) ended up voting for Clinton. And according to one 2008 study, around 25 percent of Clinton primary voters in that election ended up voting for Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., in the general. (In addition, the data showed 13 percent of McCain primary voters ended up voting for Obama, and 9 percent of Obama voters ended up voting for McCain — perhaps signaling something that swayed voters between primaries and the general election, or some amount of error in the data, or both.)

R43/R48/R49 and nearly all of the primaries Bernie won in 2016 were caucuses or OPEN primaries. Clinton took just about all the states with closed primaries.
The reason we can't count on that demonstrating Bernie's cross-party appeal is that the GOP and libertarians are notorious for ratfucking primaries, which is why so many of them are closed. A fact which Bernie did not acknowledge, or pretended not to, when he whined repeatedly about closed primaries despite everyone knowing the rules full well years in advance.

It is absolutely amazing how many dimwits will insist that the DNC/Clinton fixed the 2016 primaries against Bernie even though she got 4 million more votes than him (and took almost all the open primaries), and then turn around and insist it's only Clinton's own fault for losing the general despite winning 3 million more votes than Trump plus all the voter suppression, biased media coverage, and Russian interference.

r67 There are many dimwits. I wonder how the non-dimwits don't have alcoholism from being outnumbered by dimwits. Dimwit A: "ummm what a mess we've been in since 2016. Oh this candidate! This candidate only! Even though a pair of dirty socks should win against an unhinged grifting sexual menace, only my candidate becomes the nominee or else I'll stay home!" Dimwit A population 8,818,424.
Dimwit B population: "What's wrong with Trump? I like everything he's done!" [When pressed to name six specific actions, Dimwit B cannot say anything other than 'he's not a career politician.'] Dimwit B population:: 65,076,482.
Dimwit C population: "Oh I won't vote. I don't care what happens.. We didn't get nuked so what's the big deal?" 90,000,000
163,894,906 dimwits. It's not helpful that GOP Senators are dimwits, corporate mass media prints news articles based on what tens of thousands of trollbots are assigned to trend on Twitter, and that Americans won't read, won't watch beyond their nation's newsfeeds and Comedy Central current events repackaging. New York Magazine: Running Bernie Sanders Against Trump Would Be an Act of Insanity
The totality of the evidence suggests Sanders is an extremely, perhaps uniquely, risky nominee. His vulnerabilities are enormous and untested. No party nomination, with the possible exception of Barry Goldwater in 1964, has put forth a presidential nominee with the level of downside risk exposure as a Sanders-led ticket would bring. To nominate Sanders would be insane.
