It's as if they writers think the public is going to forget them. I was watching W&G reboot the other night and remembered there was some odd Latino character hanging around her office for a few episodes who just never showed up again.
TV show characters who inexplicably disappear with no explanation

We’ve never had this thread before.

The Nanny, Fran's sister Nadine. She was on one episode and we never heard from her again. You would think she would at least attend Fran and Max's wedding.

In an early episode of Seinfeld, Jerry's dad mentions Jerry's sister. She was never mentioned again.
On Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Sabrina's female friends tended to disappear after 1-2 seasons. Her first friend Jenny was referenced as having moved to Alaska, but most didn't even get an explanation.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 18, 2020 8:28 PM |
Excuse me, it was Valarie who moved to Alaska, not Jenny.

R9, George also had a brother. In one episode, anyway.

Tina Pinciotti, Donna's little sister who appeared in one episode in the first season of "That '70s Show," only to be never seen again

^ 'Mandy' wins from the West Wing.......although after she just disappeared after season one.......I think she was mentioned once more in later seasons.
Her character was going to be Josh's long term should they/shouldn't they get together arc, but Donna's perky, funny banter with Josh, kind of put an end to that. That is not a fact, but my presumption as a long time fan of the show.

Chuck Cunningham - Richie and Joanie’s older brother on Happy Days.

The younger daughter on Reba. But she did return and I thought it was very funny how they dealt with it.

Topanga had an older sister named Nebula on Boy Meets World. The show is really inconsistent with Topanga and her family.

Legal assistant David Gideon on "Perry Mason". He was added for two seasons and then disappeared without ever being mentioned again.
Warren Ferguson, Barney Fife's replacement on "The Andy Griffith Show".
Corporal Boyle on "Gomer Pyle".

The "Designing Women" spinoff "Woman of the House" had Valerie Mahaffey in a role written for Julie Hagerty for a few episodes, then Julie for two, then Valerie back for one, then the character simply disappeared midway through a 13-week run.

That was just par for the course on Teen Wolf. And 7th Heaven would just drop characters that the kids were dating without explanation.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | January 19, 2020 1:41 AM |
The Doris Day Show owns this thread. Her kids (among other characters) disappeared without a clue during the season three hiatus and were never heard from again.

Rhoda had a sister named Debbie on MTM.

I don't think we want to hear the explanation for why child actors suddenly disappeared from that set.
Did [italic]One Life to Live[/italic] ever explain where Oliver and Kyle disappeared to? I know in reality the execs scapegoated the gay storyline for the soap's dropping ratings (which went into free fall once they were gone), but I don't recall hearing what was supposed to have happened to the characters, if anything.

The characters of Josh and Danny both disappeared on 30 Rock for long stretches, Josh permanently.
Half the cast of Mad About You disappeared for most of the final season, including Lisa and Fran. Of course, that season was all about that fucking baby, Mabel.

Crystal on Roseanne. Her role got smaller and smaller once Nancy largely replaced her as Roseanne and Jackie's best friend. Her last appearance was in the season 8 premiere at Roseanne's baby shower.

That was because she was in rehab for anorexia. It was always meant for her to come back when she got better.
