I Spit on Your Grave

Anyone ever actually watch this? I dreaded slumber parties and the risk someone would rent this. Or Faces of Death.

I've always thought it'd be interesting to see this movie remade with a male victim. It could still include all of the social commentary the original had while maintaining the gratuity and vulgarity of the original. Have any movies like that ever been made?

Honestly, I've seen it and the remake more times than I'd like to admit. I even started an "analyze me" thread on it once. The original is so gritty and raw. I don't know what you want me to tell you. WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE ME?

by Anonymousreply 3July 25, 2020 2:22 PM

I always wanted to see this remade to be about a Rotherham rape victim getting revenge on a Pakistani grooming gang.

by Anonymousreply 4July 25, 2020 2:22 PM

I never saw the remake but loved the original.

by Anonymousreply 5July 25, 2020 2:25 PM

Sick. Films like this should not be made. The director should be locked away in a high security mental institution.

R6=Book burner

by Anonymousreply 7July 25, 2020 2:58 PM

I hated it. It's basically just an extended rape scene that lasts half the movie with the revenge tacked onto the end as some kind of justification. The remake is marginally better.

I watched this movie for the first time in many years the others night, and it's still a shocking and disturbing film. The extended rape scenes are very disturbing but presented in a way that shows how vile rape is.

I have to admit, I found the main rapist (or the actor "Eron Tabor" anyway, his real name is Ron Shetler) to be very handsome and sexy though despite his vile character. This was apparently his only film. He did star in a number of theatre productions though, including Hair. He became a singing coach not long after the movie came out, although he had to close his studio due to Covid. He's still a handsome man in his mid 70s.

Camille Keaton is still a very attractive older women too. And she still looks like herself, which you can't say about a lot of actresses after they ruin their faces with plastic surgery disasters.

Who would you cast in the main role, r1?

by Anonymousreply 10August 8, 2020 9:44 PM

Fun fact: the woman in torn clothes carrying a knife on the poster is Demi Moore.

by Anonymousreply 11August 8, 2020 9:48 PM

R10 I think that'd be a great breakout role for Tom Holland. He has the innocent lamb thing going on looks wise, he's an amazing actor so he could easily pull of the emotional range required, and it'd be the perfect role for him to break free from the Disney-Marvel image (which he has apparently been wanting to do for a while).

by Anonymousreply 12August 9, 2020 4:31 AM

Tom Holland would be great as the main in a remake of this thing. He's young enough and innocent looking enough to fit the part, he could easily pull of the varied emotions needed for the part and convey them convincingly, and it'd be a great way for him to shed the "Spider-Man" image.

by Anonymousreply 13August 9, 2020 4:34 AM

That poster is truly iconic. They don't make posters like that anymore.

by Anonymousreply 14August 9, 2020 4:37 AM

Suck it, bitch.

by Anonymousreply 15August 9, 2020 4:49 AM

Faces Of Death was mostly fake.

by Anonymousreply 16August 9, 2020 4:50 AM

The rape scene is shocking because it’s gritty and realistic, not glamorized with dramatic music and editing like in most films. I think 365 Days is more offensive, although that ISOYG poster of the victim in her torn, skimpy clothes is kind of disgusting.

by Anonymousreply 17August 9, 2020 5:05 AM

The bathtub scene is every mans worst nightmare. Hearing him yelling and screaming off camera and saying he can't get the bleeding to stop after she leaves and locks the door on him somehow makes it even more disturbing.

by Anonymousreply 18August 9, 2020 5:43 AM

Irreversible has a real rape scene.

R11 is one of the reasons I come to DL. That is a fun fact I won't forget!

by Anonymousreply 21August 9, 2020 3:28 PM

R19, the rape scene in Irreversible is not real. It is tough to watch though. Something sort of amusing about that scene, if you watch the bonus DVD about the making of the film, that guys dick was CGI when he pulled out of her.
