Brenda in Adventures in Babysitting, Joyce in Kindergarten Cop, the lady lawyer in Other People’s Money, Al Pacino’s love interest in Carlito’s Way...
Why doesn’t she have much of a career today? She should at least have a TV series.

I don’t know her but I love her in everything. Adventures, Carlitos Way, The Artist. You forgot the classic “Year of the Comet”. Anyway thank you for starting this thread. She deserves it.

I don't know how you could forget Big Top Pee Wee.
Also starring Kris Kristofferson and Susan Tyrell.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | January 17, 2020 7:02 AM |
Must admit that she never impressed me.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | January 17, 2020 7:12 AM |
And The Freshman! A charming, underrated movie.
I always liked her. I thought for sure back in the early 90s her career would have taken off.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 17, 2020 8:05 AM |
Used to be married to Will Arnett.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 17, 2020 1:14 PM |
You forgot The Relic, a major studio film trying to make PAM and Tom Sizemore happen.
.it didn't.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 17, 2020 1:18 PM |
For anybody who hasn't seen it, The Relic is awesome.
Also featuring the always watchable tiny lesbian Linda Hunt.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | January 17, 2020 1:23 PM |
Aw, she was so great in “Adventures.” But she’s white. And Hollywood currently hates white people while over-celebrating mediocrities her age like Octavia Spencer.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 17, 2020 1:27 PM |
She was luminous as Emily in Our Town on the stage.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 17, 2020 1:36 PM |
Here I found a clip of her pivotal scene in Our Town, amazing.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | January 17, 2020 1:44 PM |
She was quite pretty in a accessible kind of way. Like Amy Adams and Naomi Watts.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 13, 2020 7:40 PM |
She was also in the movie about Mary Kay Letourneau. She did a good job in it.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 13, 2020 7:44 PM |
I like her better in smaller parts. I think she does quirk effortlessly.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 13, 2020 7:46 PM |
She was pretty enough, as r11 states, but she was a terrible actress. Really awful. That's probably what sank her career once she aged out of ingenue roles.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 13, 2020 7:51 PM |
She spiked her stepmom's TAB with Drano and is serving time in prison.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 13, 2020 8:26 PM |
My father thinks Clark is an A student.
Yes, he's a very fine student.
An A student. That is what my father said.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 14, 2020 12:02 AM |
I rather wished she could have tapped as well as Ann Miller (or at least had some more presence on screen).
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 14, 2020 12:08 AM |
The weird thing with her is that I've always liked (and even loved) her in everything I've ever seen her in, but I never put her on my top ten list of actresses or anything. I can't say a bad word about her or explain why, but she's one I easily forget.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 14, 2020 12:18 AM |
You forgot the gun in Betty Lou's handbag, also starring WHET star, Eric Thal. He had that Hasidic movie with Melanie Griffith and a nude scene in The puppet Masters which I used to jerk It to frantically to as a preteen. Then poof he just disappeared.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 14, 2020 12:23 AM |
Eric Thal did have a nice ass, I jerked to it too.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | April 14, 2020 12:27 AM |
I think a successful, high-profile Hollywood film career still lasts on average 5yrs, probably even less these days as the industry seems to regurgitate the same people for role after role. It doesn't help that their's always a younger, pretty blonde just around the corner.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | April 14, 2020 12:27 AM |
I bet she's sitting on some great anecdotes.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | April 16, 2020 2:59 AM |
A decent actress, works steadily and not a fame whore. I can respect that.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | April 16, 2020 3:36 AM |
I was under the impression that Penelope Ann Miller was this Betty Draper type, but she is quite charming in the interviews I've watched on YouTube. Her voice is sweet as can be without being cloying.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | April 17, 2020 7:04 AM |
I think she fell in love with Pacino and wanted him to leave his wife. It would explain those interviews during the press tour. Pacino may have had something to do with her career taking a nosedive after 1997.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | April 17, 2020 5:17 PM |
Gross.^^
by Anonymous | reply 26 | April 17, 2020 5:19 PM |
After Kindergarten Cop, I expected to see her in a lot more things. Turns out, not so much. Then, who in their right mind would like to be working Hwood 24/7?
by Anonymous | reply 27 | April 17, 2020 5:25 PM |
R25, Pacino has never been married. He and Miller did have an affair during the filming of Carlito's Way though, and it was well known at the time that Pacino didn't appreciate her blabbing about it.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 17, 2020 5:28 PM |
I always liked her. She has a genuine warmth that's hard to find. She was perfectly cast in Kindergarten Cop.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | April 17, 2020 7:03 PM |
I liked her in Awakenings.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | April 17, 2020 7:22 PM |
I remember movie critic Joe Queenan being particularly mean about an actress when he wrote for Movieline magazine. Not just once but someone he constantly mocked. Was it her?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | April 17, 2020 7:34 PM |
Probably Sean Young, r31
by Anonymous | reply 32 | April 18, 2020 1:30 AM |
Joe Queenan mocked everyone!
by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 18, 2020 8:25 AM |
I love Adventures in Babysitting. The Brenda scenes are still hysterical. Like Brenda trying to pay for a hot dog with a cheque ("It's a perfectly good cheque!"), or when she accidentally sits in the homeless woman's place ("That's my HOUSE!"). I adore Elisabeth Shue in AIB and she's perfect but Miller was a scene-stealer.
She was also very good in the first season of American Crime.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | April 18, 2020 8:28 AM |
She's still working according to IMDB. She's also apparently turning into Gillian Anderson.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | April 18, 2020 8:48 AM |
Ew Gillian Anderson is a pretentious asshole with her ever-changing accent. Cannot stand her anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | April 20, 2020 5:07 PM |
I like her but she was miscast in Carlito's Way--if Nancy Allen was a few youngers, she would have been perfect in that role.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | April 20, 2020 5:17 PM |
ps Eric is 54 and has never been married.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | April 20, 2020 5:29 PM |
Emily Webb, in Our Town. Peerless stage performance, an actual achievement.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | April 20, 2020 5:33 PM |
I still remember her from one of her earliest roles on a CBS sitcom (“The Popcorn Kid”), which co-starred Faith Ford.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | April 20, 2020 5:55 PM |
Didn't she file a Retraining Order against her husband? Yet it wasn't well-publicized and they're still married.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | August 2, 2020 9:34 AM |
Those three-names gals were everywhere in the 90s.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Mary Stuart Masterson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Mary Louise Parker.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | August 2, 2020 7:58 PM |
Her marriage to Will Arnett didn't last 6 weeks. What happened? Was it bc Will's a ho?
by Anonymous | reply 45 | August 2, 2020 8:07 PM |
She got confused with all the other White starlets with three Anglo names who were vying for stardom at the time.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | August 2, 2020 8:12 PM |
I thought she was unbearable as Emily in "Our Town." Her Emily always seemed on the verge of a nervous breakdown and she finally seems to have one in the finally scenes: "WE DON'T HAVE TIME TO LOOK AT ONE ANOTHER!!!!" The Kennedy production of "Our Town" that she was in was fucked up in other ways, too. It also featured Spalding Gray as a kind of hipster Stage Manager.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | August 2, 2020 8:14 PM |
Wasn't she in The Shadow as Alec Baldwin's love interest? Girl could rock a white satin bias cut gown.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | August 2, 2020 8:16 PM |
R28 She had a habit of dating her costars. She was also linked to Robert DeNiro, which surprised me because I thought he only dated black women, but I was wrong about that.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | August 2, 2020 8:19 PM |
R48 Yes. Underrated movie.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | August 2, 2020 8:20 PM |
Didn't she play Mary Kay LeTourneau in the tv movie about her? As I recall that movie was sympathetic to the child raping LeTourneau. It made her out to be a sweet, simple woman in a bad marriage who finds solace and passion in the arms of a 12 year old who looks like an 18 year old.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | August 2, 2020 9:23 PM |
I only remember her as being a favorite target of Movieline,.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | August 2, 2020 9:37 PM |
Her career baffles me. She was the Jessica Chastain of the 80's and 90's.
The pussy may not show it's age, but the face sure does! Guess she couldn't get parts after the producer dudes lost interest in fuckin' her. There's always someone younger, prettier, and equally mediocre that Hollywood will try to shove down our throats!!!
by Anonymous | reply 53 | August 2, 2020 9:46 PM |
I always thought she had a weak voice. I did like her in The Freshman.
