Jenny Jones has always been a cook - she even had her own catering company before she turned to stand-up comedy
When she had her own TV show, she asked for a kitchen in her dressing room so she could make her own meals.

i remember when her cooking videos had 2000-4000 views each. I thought it was sad. Now she's getting 50,000 hits per day and the video linked here has 7 million views already. That's like $7,000 in her pocket. She wouldn't be getting paid that per day on a cooking channel show which will likely be available to her soon if not already in the works

I didn’t really have an opinion of her one way or another during her talk show days, but these cooking videos are very endearing.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 16, 2020 3:17 PM |
You have to admit she looks great for her age, though. If she's had work done, it was very good work.

I'm going to make this today. She said you could make olive bread with it, or whatever you want. I want to add garlic cloves and a few cubes of cheese.
At what point in the process would I add this to the dough?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 16, 2020 4:21 PM |
R14 I’m halfway through the first rising, so I can report later today how it turns out. It’s a little odd there’s no fat or sugar in it to feed the yeast, but we’ll see.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | January 16, 2020 4:26 PM |
Is she BACK to making videos? Because she made videos (which were great) years ago and then for some unknown reason, put out a statement on her website that she would no longer be making videos and to stop asking.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | January 16, 2020 4:29 PM |
R16 I didn’t realize that. Her last video was one year ago, before that was a three year gap. Wonder why she stopped.

Her kitchen looks very modest. (aka small)

Well this bread recipe is SHIT. I did everything exactly as instructed, and after the 3 hour rising period it had not grown at all in size.
FUCK YOU JENNY JONES!!!!

R22, Do you think your water was hot enough? The measuring cup cools it down some. I was waiting to see how yours turned out before making it, but I'll attempt to make it and report back.
The semi homemade lady made a Thai rice pudding once and I followed the recipe to the T and it was a big fucking flop and I've hated her ever since.

R8, maybe if she and her show didn't think it'd be 'funny' to humiliate a guy (turns out a closeted crazy guy) by telling him another guy wanted to have sex with him on national TV, the guy wouldn't have killed the other one.
Yes, the killer is at fault. 100%. he pulled the trigger.
But the JJ show loaded the gun and handed it to him.

Bought some new yeast and have started attempt #2 now. Will report back in 3 hours, bitches.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | January 16, 2020 6:49 PM |
Well fuck, R28, I nearly doubled the yeast the recipe called for because yours didn't rise. I mixed it all up and then I stepped out for lunch.

by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 16, 2020 7:26 PM |
R32 she could if she still made videos. Her last one was a year ago.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | January 16, 2020 7:33 PM |
I love her YouTube cooking show and I love her kitchen. It's not small, it just seems that way because she only films in that one spot that she's set up in a U formation. Notice you don't even see her refrigerator/freezer in her videos so the kitchen is more expansive than the videos show. That's a kitchen set up by someone who knows the proper way to set up a kitchen. That green granite or marble counter top is fabulous and that stove and oven she has cost probably $7-$10 thousand. That is top grade equipment.
And I've made her no kneed bread. It's quite good for a quick bread with little effort. It's not the best bread recipe I've ever made but when you don't have the time or the energy it's a great bread to have with soup and chili, etc. You can't use it for sandwiches though. It just doesn't hold up well for that.
I remember after the chat show went off the air she made the comment that she wanted nothing more to do with the TV industry.

by Anonymous | reply 36 | January 16, 2020 7:47 PM |
Well, good for her. It's better than doing infomercials.
In hindsight, it was really stupid to have guests ambushing each other with "confessions" on talk shows. But her show wasn't the only one doing it. I guess it's actually a good thing that Jerry Springer guests were mostly fake and there weren't more stories like that.

"No knead bread", I should have typed.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | January 16, 2020 8:01 PM |
That tragedy that happened on her show was most likely dreamed up by producers. Jenny just had to do the best she could with the guests and scenarios they gave her. Plus those people were all told that the person with the secret attraction could be male or female. The problem arose because one of their guests was clearly an undiagnosed mental case. Jenny had no way to know that unless they guy had demonstrated some signs of insanity before he went on the show.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | January 16, 2020 8:04 PM |
She's 73 years old so she quit her show when she was 69. Maybe she just got tired. And I must say she looked damn good in those videos for someone 69.

I can't make yeast breads by hand. They all turn out like bricks. I finally gave up and bought a bread machine.

She replied in the YouTube comments that she started making the cooking videos for fun, and it was just her making them. She was genuinely happy that people were enjoying them, but they were generating too many questions from viewers and she just couldn’t keep up with it. by Anonymous | reply 46 | January 16, 2020 8:29 PM |
r42 if your breads came out too heavy it was very likely because you unknowingly used the wrong amount of flour. Many people will just dip a 1 cup measuring cup into the flour container and scrape off the top and think they actually have 1 cup of flour. They don't. They actually have more than 1 cup because the flour becomes very compressed as it sits in whatever container it's in. You need to swirl the flour around in the container to loosen it up and aerate it before you scoop out your measurements. Otherwise you end up with overly heavy baked goods
by Anonymous | reply 47 | January 16, 2020 8:31 PM |
Real bakers use a food scale and weigh the flour. Baking is science and you have to be precise.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | January 16, 2020 8:47 PM |
R34 Jennie made really good $$$ from her talk show. So it's not like she has to work or anything. She's independently wealthy, and can do whatever she wants now.
At least she knows when to walk away from the spotlight. Some people just hang on and they humiliate themselves on all of these various has been reality tv shows you see so many of them doing nowadays. Good for her that she's living a nice quiet life now.
She's probably sitting on $25 million and judging by her kitchen, she seems to have a really nice home. Probably paid for too. Good for jennie, enjoy your life.

This is mine. Pretty good for minimal effort. Next time I'd omit the garlic and just work in a lot of Parmigiano reggiano and some black peppercorns.
A second loaf would be sun dried tomatoes and italian herbs.
Next time I'm definitely putting sea salt on top. I thought it could use more salt. I'm very glad I added stuff to it though. I wouldn't make it plain.

As I said up-thread I've made this recipe before. It's an okay bread for eating with soups, salads, chili, and the like. But it simply won't hold up to anything like making sandwiches or anything where it's going to have to hold together. It falls apart rather quickly, but if you cut off of hunk and dip it into a nice bowl of hot soup it's very nice

by Anonymous | reply 95 | January 18, 2020 7:29 PM |
I’m making this bread right now. It’s just nearing three hours of proofing. The dough looks a bit smallish in the bowl.
The video’s content is pretty clear, but why does she use cheap, plastic utensils and bowls? Her implements look like she’s teaching home economics in a group home. She seems very sweet, but a little spacey. When she stepped away from the camera, I wondered if she remembered to put on pants, or if she might turn around a few times and ask the camera “did I get up today?” She sounded like she told the signed baseball joke Under duress, like someone off camera said she’d better tell that joke “or else!”

R96 here. That bread is exactly like she describes it. It’s delicious and looks pretty much exactly like a really expensive French “Boule” from an artisanal bakery in SoHo. The production quality of her video isn’t so great, but her messaging and process are clear. It’s a really handy recipe. Now YouTube is “recommending” other videos with similar recipes, but they are all longer and way too chatty.

Should a remorseful woman say "blow your mind" in the first 5 seconds of a video after someone on her talk show was shot/killed in such a horrific way?
What if someone who knew Scott saw that? If a husband (who was a guest on her show) had fatally killed his wife by setting her on fire, would she say "This recipe will really light you up" at the start of a video?
I'm glad to hear that she is giving some money to others but did she give any money to Scott's family for creating (if not causing) the situation where he lost his life?
