WTF? Jenny Jones is making cooking videos on YouTube now??

This appeared in my feed and I clicked on it. After a minute or two I realized why she looked so familiar — it’s former talk show host Jenny Jones!

What in the actual hell??

Jenny Jones has always been a cook - she even had her own catering company before she turned to stand-up comedy

When she had her own TV show, she asked for a kitchen in her dressing room so she could make her own meals.

Well, at least no gay men will perish for ratings.

by Anonymousreply 3January 16, 2020 8:04 AM

i remember when her cooking videos had 2000-4000 views each. I thought it was sad. Now she's getting 50,000 hits per day and the video linked here has 7 million views already. That's like $7,000 in her pocket. She wouldn't be getting paid that per day on a cooking channel show which will likely be available to her soon if not already in the works

by Anonymousreply 4January 16, 2020 8:41 AM

Everyone, PLEASE at least watch 2:02 - 2:17 in the video. It will blow your mind.

by Anonymousreply 5January 16, 2020 2:02 PM

Interesting tidbit: Jones was born Janina Stronski in then Bethlehem, British Mandate of Palestine.

by Anonymousreply 6January 16, 2020 2:20 PM

A murderess by proxy attempts to redeem themselves with a YouTube cooking video...how NOBLE.

by Anonymousreply 7January 16, 2020 2:22 PM

You guys really blame her for that psycho who killed the gay guy crushing on him?

What about the psycho?

by Anonymousreply 8January 16, 2020 2:25 PM

R4 Jenny rocks!

by Anonymousreply 9January 16, 2020 2:43 PM

Did Jenny get a Jenny Jones makeover?

by Anonymousreply 10January 16, 2020 2:48 PM

I didn’t really have an opinion of her one way or another during her talk show days, but these cooking videos are very endearing.

by Anonymousreply 11January 16, 2020 3:17 PM

Her cabbage rolls look delicious

by Anonymousreply 12January 16, 2020 3:56 PM

You have to admit she looks great for her age, though. If she's had work done, it was very good work.

by Anonymousreply 13January 16, 2020 4:04 PM

I'm going to make this today. She said you could make olive bread with it, or whatever you want. I want to add garlic cloves and a few cubes of cheese.

At what point in the process would I add this to the dough?

by Anonymousreply 14January 16, 2020 4:21 PM

R14 I’m halfway through the first rising, so I can report later today how it turns out. It’s a little odd there’s no fat or sugar in it to feed the yeast, but we’ll see.

by Anonymousreply 15January 16, 2020 4:26 PM

Is she BACK to making videos? Because she made videos (which were great) years ago and then for some unknown reason, put out a statement on her website that she would no longer be making videos and to stop asking.

by Anonymousreply 16January 16, 2020 4:29 PM

R16 I didn’t realize that. Her last video was one year ago, before that was a three year gap. Wonder why she stopped.

by Anonymousreply 17January 16, 2020 4:34 PM

Her kitchen looks very modest. (aka small)

by Anonymousreply 18January 16, 2020 4:43 PM

Google says her net worth is $10 million. Why such a small kitchen?

by Anonymousreply 19January 16, 2020 4:45 PM

Because some people actually prefer to live within their means, R19

by Anonymousreply 20January 16, 2020 4:52 PM

Cooking, drumming, and inciting honor killings... Is there nothing this gal can’t do!

Honestly though, I’ve always liked her. I think she got wrapped up in fame and success and did things she’s ashamed of and tried to avoid since.

by Anonymousreply 21January 16, 2020 5:17 PM

Well this bread recipe is SHIT. I did everything exactly as instructed, and after the 3 hour rising period it had not grown at all in size.

FUCK YOU JENNY JONES!!!!

by Anonymousreply 22January 16, 2020 5:34 PM

R22, Do you think your water was hot enough? The measuring cup cools it down some. I was waiting to see how yours turned out before making it, but I'll attempt to make it and report back.

The semi homemade lady made a Thai rice pudding once and I followed the recipe to the T and it was a big fucking flop and I've hated her ever since.

If JJs recipe fails again, we'll make a voodoo doll.

by Anonymousreply 23January 16, 2020 5:45 PM

I made the bread recipe as well as her rolls (and her apple pie) and they all turned out.

by Anonymousreply 24January 16, 2020 5:54 PM

The profits from this lucrative YouTube venture will pay for her new breast implants.

by Anonymousreply 25January 16, 2020 6:00 PM

R8, maybe if she and her show didn't think it'd be 'funny' to humiliate a guy (turns out a closeted crazy guy) by telling him another guy wanted to have sex with him on national TV, the guy wouldn't have killed the other one.

Yes, the killer is at fault. 100%. he pulled the trigger.

But the JJ show loaded the gun and handed it to him.

by Anonymousreply 26January 16, 2020 6:01 PM

Thank you, r26. Exactly.

by Anonymousreply 27January 16, 2020 6:40 PM

After I calmed down, I checked the yeast I used: it had expired last month. Sorry Jenny!

Bought some new yeast and have started attempt #2 now. Will report back in 3 hours, bitches.

by Anonymousreply 28January 16, 2020 6:49 PM

Well fuck, R28, I nearly doubled the yeast the recipe called for because yours didn't rise. I mixed it all up and then I stepped out for lunch.

by Anonymousreply 29January 16, 2020 7:17 PM

^I meant to sign off as R14/R23.

by Anonymousreply 30January 16, 2020 7:20 PM

Looks fine so far, hasn't risen much.

I did spray the resting bowl with avocado oil and turned the dough to coat before covering.

by Anonymousreply 31January 16, 2020 7:24 PM

Can she possibly achieve the fame and belovedness of DataLounge icon Simply Sara?

by Anonymousreply 32January 16, 2020 7:26 PM

R32 she could if she still made videos. Her last one was a year ago.

by Anonymousreply 33January 16, 2020 7:33 PM

I love her YouTube cooking show and I love her kitchen. It's not small, it just seems that way because she only films in that one spot that she's set up in a U formation. Notice you don't even see her refrigerator/freezer in her videos so the kitchen is more expansive than the videos show. That's a kitchen set up by someone who knows the proper way to set up a kitchen. That green granite or marble counter top is fabulous and that stove and oven she has cost probably $7-$10 thousand. That is top grade equipment.

And I've made her no kneed bread. It's quite good for a quick bread with little effort. It's not the best bread recipe I've ever made but when you don't have the time or the energy it's a great bread to have with soup and chili, etc. You can't use it for sandwiches though. It just doesn't hold up well for that.

I remember after the chat show went off the air she made the comment that she wanted nothing more to do with the TV industry.

Loved her in The Song of Bernadette.

by Anonymousreply 35January 16, 2020 7:42 PM

Guess she ran out of recipes. She posted one video in the past 4 years.

by Anonymousreply 36January 16, 2020 7:47 PM

Well, good for her. It's better than doing infomercials.

In hindsight, it was really stupid to have guests ambushing each other with "confessions" on talk shows. But her show wasn't the only one doing it. I guess it's actually a good thing that Jerry Springer guests were mostly fake and there weren't more stories like that.

by Anonymousreply 37January 16, 2020 7:49 PM

by Anonymousreply 38January 16, 2020 7:49 PM

"No knead bread", I should have typed.

by Anonymousreply 39January 16, 2020 8:01 PM

That tragedy that happened on her show was most likely dreamed up by producers. Jenny just had to do the best she could with the guests and scenarios they gave her. Plus those people were all told that the person with the secret attraction could be male or female. The problem arose because one of their guests was clearly an undiagnosed mental case. Jenny had no way to know that unless they guy had demonstrated some signs of insanity before he went on the show.

by Anonymousreply 40January 16, 2020 8:04 PM

She's 73 years old so she quit her show when she was 69. Maybe she just got tired. And I must say she looked damn good in those videos for someone 69.

by Anonymousreply 41January 16, 2020 8:06 PM

I can't make yeast breads by hand. They all turn out like bricks. I finally gave up and bought a bread machine.

by Anonymousreply 42January 16, 2020 8:10 PM

She replied in the YouTube comments that she started making the cooking videos for fun, and it was just her making them. She was genuinely happy that people were enjoying them, but they were generating too many questions from viewers and she just couldn’t keep up with it. She’s happy being retired and this was turning into too much of a commitment.

Mary! You fierce!

by Anonymousreply 46January 16, 2020 8:29 PM

r42 if your breads came out too heavy it was very likely because you unknowingly used the wrong amount of flour. Many people will just dip a 1 cup measuring cup into the flour container and scrape off the top and think they actually have 1 cup of flour. They don't. They actually have more than 1 cup because the flour becomes very compressed as it sits in whatever container it's in. You need to swirl the flour around in the container to loosen it up and aerate it before you scoop out your measurements. Otherwise you end up with overly heavy baked goods

by Anonymousreply 47January 16, 2020 8:31 PM

Real bakers use a food scale and weigh the flour. Baking is science and you have to be precise.

by Anonymousreply 48January 16, 2020 8:47 PM

R34 Jennie made really good $$$ from her talk show. So it's not like she has to work or anything. She's independently wealthy, and can do whatever she wants now.

At least she knows when to walk away from the spotlight. Some people just hang on and they humiliate themselves on all of these various has been reality tv shows you see so many of them doing nowadays. Good for her that she's living a nice quiet life now.

She's probably sitting on $25 million and judging by her kitchen, she seems to have a really nice home. Probably paid for too. Good for jennie, enjoy your life.

by Anonymousreply 49January 16, 2020 8:54 PM

R22, how's yours looking?

by Anonymousreply 50January 16, 2020 9:25 PM

She set up a charitable foundation with $2 million of her own money. At the time her Wikipedia was written she had already given $1 million of it away.

She sounds like good people.

by Anonymousreply 51January 16, 2020 9:25 PM

R50 it’s got 15 mins left on the rise, and it’s still not double in size. WTF?? I’m gonna continue with it anyway.

by Anonymousreply 52January 16, 2020 9:28 PM

I am doubtful as well that mine doubled in size. It went into a 435 and climbing oven ten minutes ago and I can see it's rising a little.

I think.

by Anonymousreply 53January 16, 2020 9:43 PM

It will continue to rise somewhat while it cooks.

by Anonymousreply 54January 16, 2020 9:46 PM

For the bread baker: what the temperature in your house right now?

by Anonymousreply 55January 16, 2020 9:46 PM

My house is 68 degrees.

by Anonymousreply 56January 16, 2020 9:49 PM

Mine is definitely rising now. I kneaded about five large cloves of garlic and a handful of Costco Parmigiano into it before I put it in the oven.

by Anonymousreply 59January 16, 2020 9:57 PM

I'm not keeping my house that hot, it will give my face an unflattering flush, R58.

Better if JJ had actually said to put it in a warm place to rise, not 'you don't have to...'. There are warmer places in my house than my kitchen.

by Anonymousreply 60January 16, 2020 10:00 PM

Please post photos of the bread when it's done guts.

Thanks in advance.

by Anonymousreply 61January 16, 2020 10:02 PM

R19 Her show ran all those years and she’s only worth $10 million??? Wow she got ripped off.

by Anonymousreply 62January 16, 2020 10:07 PM

You give me the instructions on how to do that R61 while I clean my counter top.

by Anonymousreply 63January 16, 2020 10:14 PM

I’m not holding my breath.

by Anonymousreply 70January 16, 2020 10:43 PM

But the point is that we're MAKING it TODAY, R68.

by Anonymousreply 71January 16, 2020 10:43 PM

Is it rising at all, R70?

by Anonymousreply 72January 16, 2020 10:44 PM

Up until Scott Amedure was murdered, Jenny Jones, in most of her interviews, boasted about how she picked her own topics for her shows and how important it was for her, as a woman, to call the shots on her show. But when her stank ass was on the witness stand, she played dumb And said that the producers did all that. Lying slag. Fuck Jenny Jones, fuck her right in her saggy ass.

by Anonymousreply 73January 16, 2020 10:52 PM

I don’t know, it has the lid on the Dutch oven. 5 more mins, then I remove lid and parchment then bake for another 15-20

Trying to reinvent herself. But how many professional hausfraus do we need in this world?

by Anonymousreply 82January 16, 2020 11:36 PM

This is mine. Pretty good for minimal effort. Next time I'd omit the garlic and just work in a lot of Parmigiano reggiano and some black peppercorns.

A second loaf would be sun dried tomatoes and italian herbs.

Next time I'm definitely putting sea salt on top. I thought it could use more salt. I'm very glad I added stuff to it though. I wouldn't make it plain.

It’s not the best homemade bread I’ve ever had, but it’s pretty damn good.

by Anonymousreply 89January 17, 2020 12:34 AM

Great jobs DL bakers. Both breads look delicious.

by Anonymousreply 90January 17, 2020 12:43 AM

she's had that youtube channel for quite some time. like three years or more?

by Anonymousreply 91January 17, 2020 1:09 AM

That bread looks delicious. I’d like it plain with Irish or cultured butter. I’d also put the stale leftovers in the food processor to make breadcrumbs. I really like how there is no sugar, or oil. It looks like the simple rustic breads we eat in Italy.

by Anonymousreply 92January 17, 2020 1:23 AM

[quote] Well this bread recipe is SHIT.

"Fast" and "no-knead" are enemies of good bread. Bread takes time to make and you have to knead it. That's what makes it bread.

by Anonymousreply 93January 17, 2020 2:41 AM

As I said up-thread I've made this recipe before. It's an okay bread for eating with soups, salads, chili, and the like. But it simply won't hold up to anything like making sandwiches or anything where it's going to have to hold together. It falls apart rather quickly, but if you cut off of hunk and dip it into a nice bowl of hot soup it's very nice

by Anonymousreply 94January 17, 2020 2:31 PM

I wonder why she stopped making videos? She seemed to be enjoying herself in them.

by Anonymousreply 95January 18, 2020 7:29 PM

I’m making this bread right now. It’s just nearing three hours of proofing. The dough looks a bit smallish in the bowl.

The video’s content is pretty clear, but why does she use cheap, plastic utensils and bowls? Her implements look like she’s teaching home economics in a group home. She seems very sweet, but a little spacey. When she stepped away from the camera, I wondered if she remembered to put on pants, or if she might turn around a few times and ask the camera “did I get up today?” She sounded like she told the signed baseball joke Under duress, like someone off camera said she’d better tell that joke “or else!”

by Anonymousreply 96January 18, 2020 8:58 PM

R98 That guest chef was really out of line. And her ingredients are awful.

by Anonymousreply 99January 19, 2020 12:20 PM

I like her.

by Anonymousreply 100January 19, 2020 12:34 PM

R96 here. That bread is exactly like she describes it. It’s delicious and looks pretty much exactly like a really expensive French “Boule” from an artisanal bakery in SoHo. The production quality of her video isn’t so great, but her messaging and process are clear. It’s a really handy recipe. Now YouTube is “recommending” other videos with similar recipes, but they are all longer and way too chatty.

by Anonymousreply 101January 19, 2020 12:49 PM

R94 I don’t have that issue at all. Mine held up very well and I used some for an egg salad sandwich

by Anonymousreply 105January 19, 2020 5:04 PM

Where does Jenny live?

by Anonymousreply 106January 19, 2020 5:50 PM

Should a remorseful woman say "blow your mind" in the first 5 seconds of a video after someone on her talk show was shot/killed in such a horrific way?

What if someone who knew Scott saw that? If a husband (who was a guest on her show) had fatally killed his wife by setting her on fire, would she say "This recipe will really light you up" at the start of a video?

I'm glad to hear that she is giving some money to others but did she give any money to Scott's family for creating (if not causing) the situation where he lost his life?

by Anonymousreply 107January 19, 2020 7:46 PM
