[R198] I know where you got that "gossip" about NCW and these brunettes--from Lipstick Alley, a real cesspool. That source was not exactly creditable as she seemed to know a laughable amount of peculiar sexual foibles among the cast members, such as the Ramsey actors likes oral and Alfie likes this and this person likes this. She listed a whole catalog, which made me think she was either the go-to madam/hooker in Belfast for the GoT cast or she was a celebrity sex fantasist. I lean toward the latter. There is no way she would know every person's sexual peculiarities/idiosyncrasies like that unless she was a working professional or making it up. I didn't feel her believable one bit.
As far as NCW's brunette preference might go, I can believe it because his wife is dark, exotic and slight. BUT, I also remember reading in several articles that he said his first big crush was the blonde from ABBA--whatever her name is. She had very pale blonde/platinum hair and very light, luminous skin. Gee, who has the same hair and skin coloring? I'm racking my brain.
Now the person who started one of those Game of Thrones tea threads in Lipstick Alley seemed pretty informed. I believe she was a student who knew someone who worked on the show so she had a direct insider contact. I found her information somewhat believable. Yes, she did talk a lot about the Kit/Emilia/Rose triangle but that's only because everyone kept asking her about it. She also talked about the others. About NCW, she said he was a big flirt (we know that) but not a cheater. She also said earlier in the thread when the show was in one of the earlier threads that NCW could be an asshole at times. He was generally a very nice person but he could snap. I believe that too.
I think she also said that Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei) had a crush on Kit and had some sort of flirtation with him but didn't pursue anything further because she didn't want to a potentially uncomfortable with Emilia with whom she worked on a regular basis.
[R203] Where's her boyfriend? He must be with her during Fashion Week. She should be surrounding herself with a clique composed of actors, directors and writers so she could act more. I think someone in another thread who has a contact with Giles said he's a pompous jerk who has told Gwen that her real talent is modeling! Of course, she was drawn to NCW--not only because she was working with him and he's incredibly good-looking and charming but he was a big champion for her, supporting her such as introducing her to his agents at WME (when GoT was her only big credit at that time) and promoting her, like telling people to watch that series she did with Elisabeth Moss at events. He also cast her as his wife in a play he co-wrote with that writer friend of his. I have no idea if their friendship crossed over to the physical/romantic stage but I wouldn't doubt it.
And yes, to the poster above who said Giles always acts like he's bored at these awards/premieres Gwen brings him to, acting like he's superior and it's all so "pedestrian." Perfect description. That's what I get from him too.
Another person on a different GoT gossip thread said that about five or six years ago, NCW was having problems with his marriage, he hated the writing for Jaime (this was Season 4 and on), was dissatisfied with where his career was, etc. This was when he fired his manager.
About NCW's marriage--my sense is that his wife is a shy, introverted type who seems uncomfortable attending these big, splashy events. (Yes, I know she's an actress, too, but there are quite a few actors who have a similar personality type and seem uncomfortable attending high-profile events, I present Joaquin Phoenix as a great example). I'm guessing she didn't want GoT because she doesn't care for that genre and she might have found NCW's character storyline to be way too distasteful for her. Who can blame her for that!?
