Sorry R2 but you have not kept up with NYPD demographics over the past 15 years. Whites makeup about 50 % of NYPD currently. The rest of NY cops are non white.

The trouble with the studies is they fail to focus on paying customers to non paying ratios.

Furthermore it makes no difference if the person was targeted or not. All that matters is did the person commit the crime.

If 30 people run a stop sign and 10 are white, 10 are black and 10 are Asian and the cops only ticket the Asian and black motorists, what is overlooked is the fact, they still did the crime and deserved to be ticketed.

It would be really easy to determine the demographics of people jumping turnstiles in the NYC subway system. Then the racial profile of people who are fare skipping could be compared to the racial profile of the people who are arrested for fare skipping.

Such an approach would be logical, rational, and based upon verifiable facts.

As such I have complete faith that it will never happen.

The minority neighborhoods have higher crime & poorer population that can’t afford transit therefore more police presence in those stations. They’re not having to monitor the Lexington & 63rd station for Turnstile Jumpers leaving Barney’s.

I genuinely agree with the idea that cops should stop arresting people of color. Give them a pass from the law for a year and see how quickly Americans will change their tunes about POC being innocent little angels.
