I can't believe they dragged it out for 11 years.
The only good thing about that tedious show was the display of cocks.

I assumed it had died a quiet death 5 or 6 years ago.

Will Emmy return?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | January 13, 2020 4:47 PM |
I don't get Show--oh wait, I DO get Showtime, but I've never seen this show.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 13, 2020 4:49 PM |
I quit watching when Mickey left. I have read they brought him back a couple seasons later, but I was over it all by that time. They brought back that awful Jimmy character and spent too much time on ugly Lip and Debbie. All I really wanted was Mickey and Ian, with a side of Kevin.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 13, 2020 4:50 PM |
Mary Kay Place is on this season which makes it fun.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 13, 2020 4:50 PM |
I know the actors have loved the paychecks, but they must be shitting on the scripts in private.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | January 13, 2020 4:56 PM |
I stopped watching this shit show many seasons ago and I have cable. I can think of better ways to waste my time.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 13, 2020 5:00 PM |
the UK version was actually good
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 13, 2020 5:31 PM |
It's time. How many more crazy schemes and situations can they get into? Especially the stupid neighbors/bar owners.
It should have ended when Emmy Rossum left. The show just isn't the same without Fiona.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | January 13, 2020 5:48 PM |
Did they kill Frank yet? He should die in the final episode.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 13, 2020 6:05 PM |
I assume ratings were decent to keep it above water but it looks like too much of a grim/depressing show to last that long. I'm all for shows like this but after season 3, 4 or5 I would stop watching. Ive never seen this show though ha.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | January 13, 2020 6:22 PM |
I FF through anything that is Frank-centric. He's disgusting, and not in a fun way.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 13, 2020 6:23 PM |
R12 season 7 was nearly the last, partly because everyone’s contracts went up for renegotiation. But at that point the show had just found a new audience on Netflix and so they decided to keep going. They shouldn’t have bothered.
I loved seasons 1-4 and will watch them again, but it’s embarrassing what this show was allowed to become.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 13, 2020 6:29 PM |
R5 He did a couple guest spots then came back for Season 10. There was a lot of initial excitement over a developed Ian / Mickey storyline for Season 10 but the writing / editing wasn't great and it was kind of a peripheral story that didn't get much development or airtime.

It remains Showtime's highest rated program. Exec Prod John Wells said last year he could see it running for many more seasons -- but I assume escalating talent and productions just became untenable for Showtime.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | January 13, 2020 6:36 PM |
R14 OIC, wasn't aware of that. Thanks for sharing.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | January 13, 2020 6:36 PM |
The UK version is far superior

Or Macy wanted out. I suppose they could have continued the show without, but good riddance. Shows about white trash are not high on my list.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | January 13, 2020 6:42 PM |
I'm glad they announced a final season where there will be a proper ending. I hope they wrap things up nicely.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | January 13, 2020 6:44 PM |
R21 the writing's been crap for years, why should the ending be different?
by Anonymous | reply 22 | January 13, 2020 7:18 PM |
I stopped watching when Kevin got fat.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | January 13, 2020 7:22 PM |
I kind of liked this season without Fiona. Mickey and Ian's wedding was sweet.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | January 28, 2020 2:29 PM |
This show was impressive for how it tested the boundaries of American television's censorship. Aside from that it is barely mediocre. The nudity, cussing, and graphic qualities of the show were the only thing going for it.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | January 28, 2020 2:34 PM |
I enjoyed the first few seasons, but lost interest around season 4 or 5.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | January 28, 2020 2:42 PM |
I agree R24 about the wedding. I don't necessarily agree about the whole season being that great but this season finale was pretty impressive. I actually choked up a bit. There were some great interactions between the siblings. The actress who plays Deb actually has some acting chops (poor girl rarely gets good material because her character's an idiot). I liked her scene with Ian when they were talking about missing Monica. I felt like this was kind of intended to be a series finale before they knew there'd be one last season.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | January 28, 2020 2:43 PM |
I enjoyed it back when Cameron and Jeremy were put on display all the time. Now the nudity has died down in favor of the soap opera plot.

I want what this guy is smoking.
Moving beyond this episode specifically, it was recently announced that the show was ending after one more season. You’ve told me in the past that you would make this show as long as everyone still was on board, so why was this the time to wrap things up?
Well, I haven’t changed my opinion, I’d write it forever. I love this show. But Showtime really felt that it was their time to end doing the show. And we respect that; they’ve been such great partners to take us through 11 years of making the show. It took almost seven years to get the show made in the first place, so I never thought I would make it this long. But I haven’t changed my opinion, I could do it forever. They were just ready to be done. With the cast, we never had a conversation with Bill [Macy] or anyone else about whether they wanted to stay longer because Showtime let us know that they were ready to close up shop. Like I said, I’m so appreciative of all the support they’ve given us all these years that it would be very ungrateful of me to not just thank them. But, if anybody else wants to make it, let’s make it. I’ll make it. There’s just so much to write about and I love these characters.

I bet there will be a spin-off somewhere down the line. Or a movie. It's the American way these days.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | January 28, 2020 7:38 PM |
I think it could have continued being potentially interesting if they had actually gone through with killing Frank off when his liver died, but when he survived, I was stopped watching. He's insufferable.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 28, 2020 7:42 PM |
Everything the UK does originally is better: Shameless, House of Cards, Queer as Folk, Prime Suspect, and running hundreds of hours shorter!
by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 28, 2020 8:01 PM |
They'll probably completely fuck up Gallavich next season.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | January 28, 2020 11:37 PM |
I fucking hate Tammi.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | January 31, 2020 4:17 AM |
Never seen it. How did it end?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | January 31, 2020 4:18 AM |
I agree r34, Lip is my favorite and they should have paired him with a better woman.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | January 31, 2020 4:23 AM |
Liam gets the short end of the stick. Mickey usually makes me laugh but I thought it was cruel when Liam was talking to Ian and Mickey goes 'get out of here shithead' to Liam. Frank only uses Liam when he has a scheme and his mother figure Fiona took off.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | January 31, 2020 4:24 AM |
UK original launched a career for this blue eyed boy.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | January 31, 2020 4:25 AM |
You can kind of see the direction in which they are taking Lip & Tammi storyline: they become one of those husband and wife HGTV duos who go around, renovate and flip houses.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | January 31, 2020 4:45 AM |
I've found this show to be mostly watchable, if not enjoyable at times. But they need to let it go. So many scripts and plot lines have been recycled.
By far my favorite character this past season has been Liam. He's so dry in how he's onto everyone's bullshit especially Frank's.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | January 31, 2020 4:58 AM |
I wonder if they'll bring back Fiona for a few episodes.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | January 31, 2020 2:40 PM |
R42 Probably for the finale. Is Emmy doing more screen roles or is she returning to opera?
by Anonymous | reply 43 | January 31, 2020 3:00 PM |
Aww. It’s fun if you don’t take it too seriously. I only watched one season when Fiona owned (?) the laundromat. And then the most recent two. There were a few references I didn’t get, but it’s okay.
Mary Kay Place is killing it.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | January 31, 2020 3:58 PM |
I've been binging it and I imagine Svetlana the Hand Whore as one of our lovely Russian trolls.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | September 6, 2020 5:53 AM |
They just discard so many characters. Joan Cusak and her family, the milkovich sister, the lesbians in Fiona's building, Frank's babies and then hang on to characters who suck.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | September 6, 2020 6:29 AM |
Did they mention at all where Fiona went?
