Pearl appeared on 227, shit 4 brains!

She and Jackee were by far the best thing about 227.
Apparently she was threated by Jackee (according to Jackee) and once in between takes told Jackee "You think you're the star of this show, don't you?" to which Jackee responded to with "Yes, you old bitch, I am!"

"And I grew up to not only win an Academy Award, Golden Globe and Emmy, but I am SISTER NIGHT."
Love, Brenda (a/k/a Regina King)

I watched the show pretty much only for Jackee.

Loved seeing a few of the surviving cast members pop up on the A Black Lady Sketch Show except for of course Regina King.

The actress who played Pearl died in 2000.
R.I.P. Helen Martin.

My mother used to call this show “Two Twenty Seven” as opposed to “Two Two Seven”. The “2020” troll would kill my mother.

2-27 was a religious part of my Saturday nights along with Amen, The Golden Girls, and Empty Nest. That was the some entertaining TV.
I loved Sandra, Pearl, Brenda & Calvin, Mary, Rose, and Lester. And that theme song. “Well, there’s no place like home ... with your family around, you’re never alone ...”
I do wonder why TV shows about middle and lower classes died out shortly thereafter. Maybe people don’t like to watch themselves. I don’t know. But it’s interesting and maybe says something about what society thinks of those with little money.

R18, the Jenkins fam were rich compared to Fred Sanford and the Evans fam.

I mean NO place, child!

Pearl! What a gem! Rest in peace, Helen Martin.
In the right hands, "227" could spawn a successful spinoff much like what Spectrum did with "Mad About You." Bring in veterans like Tim Reid and Paris Barclay with experience in the dramedy genre; Tracey Ross might be up to the challenge. The much beloved "227" could easily evolve into a show similar in tone to the iconic "The Golden Girls."
Or maybe a full length feature film based on the series!

She was on Carson's Tonight Show and talked about how she liked to "smoke reefer".

Oh, “wax” she, R16?

Jackee did her own shade when she said she thought Martin was really 100 when she died.
