As a gay person myself, there are two reasons I think he could be gay: 1) when he was a teen, he told people he wanted to be a priest; that would certainly remove the pressure to have a girlfriend. I do not know believe Tom Cruise is gay. Although there are men and women who would do a great deal to advance their careers, I do not believe women like Mimi Rogers or Nicole Kidman would marry him to advance their careers. Adam made some juvenile dudebro joke about shitting out a football like an egg, which earned him a blank stare from Cruise. I think Tom Cruise was bipolar or had ADHD as a child and still suffers from it. His parents were probably advised by doctors to put him on medication. He fits the profile. His intensity (see Oprah couch jumping, Matt Lauer incident) is proof, at least to me. I have a couple of good friends who have ADHD and bipolar issues. One of them despises medication for this condition, feeling (maybe rightly) that it will take the edge off his creativity (he works as a screenwriter). The other friend went on medication and has changed mostly for the better. Whether TC is gay or not, I think that is the reason he went into Scientology in the first place. Only the intense highs which tended to separate him from people, or cause them to walk away from him. CRUISE himself can't keep the story straight (no pun intended)... first he had dyslexia, and in his own words after graduating from high school (barely) was a "functional illiterate", but that scientology and only scientology cured him, then it was he had dyslexia and still has it, but only scientology has given him the "tools' to deal with it, then it was he was/is not dyslexic, and was misdiagnosed. I think he's got a Cluster B personality disorder, probably Narcissism, as well as a low-ish IQ and learning disabilities, and think the ADHD is very possible. Some people with ADHD do have an intensity and energy that registers well on film, I think it's moderately common among actors. And BTW I don't think a low-ish IQ is incompatible with a career like his, a person doesn't have to be good at pure logic or grammar or other things that count as "intelligence", to be cunning and ambitious and ruthless. That's what gets a person ahead in Hollywood, not logical thinking.

It takes a certain intelligence to navigate the publicity side of things. Cruise has had some major slip ups, and I'm sure Liz Rosenberg (is that her name?) earned every penny, but you don't do all the interviews he's done over the years - many on camera - and succeed through sheer luck. A NDA would be a civil violation not a criminal one. You would get sued civilly.

Yes, that could be it. They could also get an injunction preventing a book from being published until the lawsuit was settled. That could take a decade with stalling and no publisher is going to go along with this.

You can be sued for anything, winning is another thing, but you also have to defend yourself and that costs money. For instance, I live in Cook County, IL. Suppose I sue you for owing me a billion dollars. You obviously never borrowed the money.

I sue you. You get a subpoena and you have to show up in court to defend yourself. That means you have to file a reply. The reply is $290. That means you get the right to go before a judge and defend yourself. So you pay, the judge finds in your favor and you're out the $290.

My friend with ADHD changed for the better immediately when he got on meds. (He actually resembled TC when he was younger, and with the same "symptoms" Tom displays, except moreso.) The intensity did go away and he could follow and respond well in conversation. but it did dull other things and I miss them. He has the type of green thumb where he could stick a leaf in a pot of soil and it would grow into a plant. He'd spend hours taking care of these plants and I miss the beauty of his "creativity" if that's what you'd call it. His deck was a riot of floral profusion in the Spring. He won't touch a plant now, has none in his apartment, and won't listen to me asking him to try again. But, he no longer has racing thoughts, has never "gone off" the meds as he realizes the benefits, and his life has definitely improved because of them. It's a real trade-off though.

Just to add in Cook County if you're poor you can file a reply or file a suit for free, but the standard for this is less than rough $11,500/year.

Which would qualify you for food stamps, so if you're not that poor, you're out of luck and must pay for a reply or suit
