She was such an awkward little girl. Her face was particularly queer in Atonement. She now reminds me of a young Cate Blanchett, striking and eye catching if not delicate and traditionally beautiful
Saoirse Ronan has grown into a handsome woman

She’s the perfect combination of plain/attractive. She’s good looking enough to be a female lead but not attractive enough to be boxed into certain types of roles.
She’s going to have the career that Kate Winslet should have had and Timmy will be her Leo.

I would call her comely but not pretty.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 30, 2019 6:17 AM |
Sureshit is pretty cute.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | December 30, 2019 6:22 AM |
r2 Yes, her jaw is far too strong and her nose far to large to claim she is pretty but she looks perfectly pleasant.
Gosh, she would be the perfect Scarlett O’Hara based on her physical description in the novel. She even shares the Irish peasant stock.

Good actress. Love the accent. But she has an underlying cold vibe that I find off-putting. Accordingly, she is pretty in a cold way. I can think of many actresses I prefer.

Plays the same character everytime. Can't wait until Florence Pugh pushes Shitstorm off her It Girl pedistal.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 30, 2019 6:25 AM |
r6 Florence has an obscenely large head. Why does nearly every English woman have a flat, round face or a beakish nose?

Sah-oe-eer-say.
Weird.

Not classically beautiful, but VERY photogenic. The camera loves her odd face and haunting eyes!
No figure, though. Quite the opposite.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 30, 2019 12:07 PM |
I agree. Not pretty, but handsome. She has a distinctive but pleasant face, and I love how sharp her profile is.

That's not how she pronounces it. After her name was mispronounced at the Golden Glopbes, Ellen had a sign made for her with the way she pronounces it written on it:

*Golden Globes

I love Saoirse, and I find her quite beautiful in her own unique way. And I love her acting.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 30, 2019 5:47 PM |
She's handsomer than that Korean pop singer from the other thread.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 30, 2019 5:51 PM |
She was absolutely fantastic in Little Women and deserves an Oscar nom,
by Anonymous | reply 15 | December 30, 2019 5:57 PM |
Love her voice.

Lovely lady. Amazing actress. Can't believe she will lose an Oscar nomination this year because of political correctness and white guilt. The Academy is such a joke. Diversity my ass.

huh?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 30, 2019 9:28 PM |
She is one of the most overrated actresses working today. Never gives more than a competent performance, yet gets her twat eaten out by every critic and awards organization on an almost yearly basis.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | December 30, 2019 9:30 PM |
R20 Her long face and classical looks might have reminded critics of a young Meryl Streep.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 30, 2019 9:54 PM |
r19 Don’t mind him, he’s just a racist troll.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 30, 2019 10:03 PM |
The Academy will probably nominate 2 POC actresses (Lupita and Erivo) this year to please the woke crowd, thus Ronan will unfairly be left behind.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 30, 2019 10:19 PM |
She bores me. Has since Lovely Bones.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 30, 2019 10:21 PM |
She is a good actress, but I feel uncomfortable watching her in sex scenes. There are a lot of them in "Mary Queen of Scots", including one where she gets eaten out.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | January 21, 2020 2:22 PM |
[quote]including one where she gets eaten out.
All the critics were in on it.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | January 21, 2020 2:26 PM |
She has a very aesthetic face and she’s a good actress. She is the new Meryl. And, just like Meryl, she keeps getting nominated and losing. She’ll get a few Oscars eventually but she’ll still have a far higher nomination count.
Having said that, I agree with the poster above who noted that she keeps playing similar character types: aloof, cold-ish, standoff-ish, strong-headed. Either she is typecast or she hasn’t developed enough range yet.

I heard that she was terrible in her Broadway debut. Is that true?
by Anonymous | reply 28 | January 21, 2020 3:32 PM |
Not your classic beauty, but next to Renee Zelwegger she's Marilyn Monroe.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | January 21, 2020 5:44 PM |
What do you mean, r26?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 21, 2020 6:37 PM |
I can believe she's terrible on stage. On camera she has the unique ability to be still and let the camera see what's going on behind her eyes, that gift does NOT translate to the stage. On the stage you have to act and move and project, there's no closeups where you can be subtle.
I think she'll have a long career in film and TV, but will never be anything much on the stage.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 21, 2020 6:47 PM |
She has a very long and artistic face. Similar to a Modigilani painting.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | January 25, 2020 5:23 PM |
It seems like the more homely you are the more chance you have at winning an Oscar.
