Hugh Grant: Nearing elderly fatherhood, why did he begrudge Liz Hurley?

"but couldn't parenthood have been better approached?"

A male and female fucking without protection is pretty much all it takes. I don't know what kind of fancy pants situation you think is the norm.

Do you watch a lot of Lifetime movies or something? I mean, if that's your thing, knock yourself out. But you should really figure out the difference between entertainment and real life.

Oh, is that it? Who knew there are such fine lines between the rich and famous, meth addicts, and Hallmark family fodder. Thanks for the enlightenment.

Any time, hon.

You do what you do best.

I've actually wondered about OP's question myself. For a long time, right through the Divine Brown era, I assumed it was a bearding relationship, and Grant was gay. I even thought the Divine Brown incident was a PR stunt to mute swelling gay rumors after all those years together with no ring and no baby.

Both Hurley and Grant went on to such weird parenthood situations, too -- a billionaire trap baby and neverending legal battles on Hurley's side (plus an apparently genderfluid son with, like, 11 prominent godparents including Elton John and Hugh Grant), and sudden multiple fatherhood with multiple babymommas at 50 for Grant.

Was Hurley successful in squeezing the piggy bank of the ugly rich guy? I guess she gambled that her genes would win out cause the kid is attractive.

by Anonymousreply 6December 28, 2019 9:05 AM

Liz Hurley is right wing (in a British sense), Hugh Grant is not.

by Anonymousreply 7December 28, 2019 9:09 AM

The kid was Bing-ugly in childhood (not that it would stop Liz's PR overdrive).

The open mouth. Why?

Maybe one of or both of them just weren't interested in parenthood during the time they were together, which happened to change after they went their separate ways? Idk why it has to be some big mystery.

After Johnny Depp and Vanessa separated after 14 years and Johnny immediately got married (to that gold-digging sociopath Amber Heard), people were asking why he never married Vanessa. By all accounts she just didn't give a shit.

by Anonymousreply 9December 28, 2019 9:23 AM

Not talking about marriage, just progeny. Vanessa and Depp had two almost at the outset.

by Anonymousreply 10December 28, 2019 9:28 AM

Damian Hurley is Grant's godson. Liz's story is that Grant was intolerably ill-tempered (confirmed by some of his co-stars) when they were together. But they've remained good friends. I admire Grant for suing the fuck out of those cunts at the Mirror Group who hacked his phone and won a six-figure settlement.

They were besties who benefitted their careeers from being "a couple". They may have fucked each other but by all accounts they fucked around too. Legendary heroine fiend Tom Sizemore (who later married Heidi Fleiss) said he was literally living with Liz for a few months. He had no idea she was still with Hugh Grant until Hugh flew into town for an industry event and she went into gf mode. Meanwhile Hugh was fucking everyone from the air stewards to street hookers. Liz and Hugh were what's best described as a loving showmance.

by Anonymousreply 12December 28, 2019 10:05 AM

He was such an all around great guy that his nickname amongst those who adored him was, "Osama Bing Laden." What did Liz see in him if he was such a tosser? I remember the interview she did on Larry King Live when she was sucking on an electric cigarette. This must have just been after she found out she was pregnant. Larry King asked her about Hughie. She replied, "I HAVE..." and Larry cut her off.

by Anonymousreply 13December 28, 2019 10:09 AM

She did good to hold out for a billionaire. Give the kid an equal shot at having her looks and his dad's shrewd brain. And if he misses at both, he's at least still an heir to a massive pile of money.

Grant suddenly became aware of his fading mortality and questionable virility at 50. It happens to many a straight man. Hence the quickly proliferation passel of sprogs.

I don’t think he ever had an interest in child-rearing or children in general nor does he now. Again, not many straight men do.

by Anonymousreply 15December 28, 2019 11:52 AM

R15 yes, Grant felt the subtle nudge of the clock ticking and the impending need to seed and seed often to memorialize his time and presence here. Any thoughts on the quality of his seed.

by Anonymousreply 16December 28, 2019 12:32 PM

He's now all about fatherhood, according to this recent interview.

Off-topic, but I just discovered this:

She might not have been ready for a kid yet when she was with Hugh. But then around 35 the biological clock kicked in. I'm guessing.

by Anonymousreply 19December 28, 2019 6:37 PM

Didn’t the kid’s dad inherit his money? I don't think there’s any evidence that Bing is smarter than Grant, just much, much richer.

by Anonymousreply 20December 28, 2019 6:48 PM

Wasn't the Bing family, or at least his grandfather, trying to shut this kid out of the family trust?

by Anonymousreply 21December 29, 2019 3:51 AM

I'm so jealous of that whore who sucked Hugh's mini uncut cock in LA.

by Anonymousreply 22December 29, 2019 3:55 AM

[quote]Wasn't the Bing family, or at least his grandfather, trying to shut this kid out of the family trust?

Yes, Steven Bing's father wanted Damian and Steve's other bastard, a daughter, to be excluded from the inheritance, but in July they were made beneficiaries.

by Anonymousreply 23December 29, 2019 4:10 AM

Even if it were possible to lock the child out of the family estate (and I'm not sure it is). Liz is definitely getting a pretty penny in child support and lifestyle upkeep. Well worth not wasting that egg on grouchy Hugh Grant sperm. If she had she would be sharing that Paddington Bear money with three baby mamas now

by Anonymousreply 24December 29, 2019 4:32 AM

After years in the modeling industry, Liz knew how to parlay her 'brand' into a marriage where she'll be set for life. She knew 'Grumplestiltskin' wasn't going to be that guy. And he found a pair of willing babymakers. Good for both of them.

by Anonymousreply 25December 29, 2019 6:39 PM

Good point, R25. Reminds me of Linda Evangelista and François-Henri Pinault (except Salma Hayek won that race).

Does the litigation these women are/were up for with their baby daddies mean damaged kids? At some point, do the kids stop and wonder if their existence wasn't about them, but the rejecting fathers' money and the mothers' willingness to use them?
