Anyone try it?

Propecia works! It really does. I've kept my hair but I think I would have been bald by now, if not earlier if I dod't start taking it early on. It really is one of the easiest ways for the common DLer to continue getting mistook for "much, much younger." Seriously, it comes in generic form now and there are no side effects. It's all about the PrEp+Prop combo. A full head of hair and barebacking.

R1 WTF are you talking about? Propecia’s number 1 side effect is impotence and erectile dysfunction. Doctors are averse to prescribing it to younger men.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 22, 2019 12:34 AM |
I tried propecia. It definitely had sexual side effects for me—difficulty with erections and when I had them, my cock felt oddly number. My boyfriend also said it made me somewhat of an asshole.
So I stopped taking it and have kept using rogaine with success

OP Viviscal is basically a multivitamin with herbal stuff thrown in. You can get similar results taking biotin and zinc together.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | December 22, 2019 12:35 AM |
Biotin is cheap and effective. You will see a change within a week. But also be ready for the rest of your body hair and nails to grow even faster/thicker as well.

Vivisical professional in the grey box makes a difference for me but you have to stay on it in perpetuity.

“Hair thinning treatments” sounds like a treatment intended to thin hair.
“Thinning-hair treatments” is clearer.
Either way, it needs to be hyphenated.

You can get finasteride for around $13 a month with a GoodRx coupon. Holding on to a full head of hair is worth any side effect.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 22, 2019 4:48 AM |
R2 - I am late 30's and started to taking Propecia when I was 23 or so with no erectile side effects or any adverse effects (never say never though). My ex who had a shaved head started taking it just b/c I was such an enthusiast. His hair started filling in at the receding temples which I thought was amazing. My hair hadn't gotten to that point when I started. He was always erect. It's worth a shot, give it a month to gauge any effects. Yes - R12 - it is all about the Good RX coupon. I did have another boyfriend who used Rogain and I see it at the gym, but seems so messy and inconvenient. Also, check your shampoos. There are chemicals in cheap shampoos that thin your hair. A female friend told me that Pantene really thinned her husbands hair out. Good luck!

Not if it causes impotence.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 22, 2019 8:19 AM |
Yes, the full head of hair is more important than a side effect. Sometimes you have to make hard choices and hair is the better choice.

Why is Viviscal and other products only marketed to women? Keranique is another one. I'm wondering if there is estradiol in these. They used to put thos estrogen compound in many hair 'tonics'. Shiseido Flowlin is one of many that the brand comes to mind. It has since been taken off the market for the US/UK.

r6 yes..Biotin does work to make your hair and nails grow thicker and long....it did take me about 6 months to actually see any results
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 23, 2019 1:23 AM |
Keranique is marketed to women, but it's just marketing hype. The active ingredient in the growth treatment is minoxidil; the shampoo and conditioner contain keratin and ginseng, which are good for your hair but not proven to regrow it.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 23, 2019 2:12 AM |
wow r23, Im surprised it took that long so see results from biotin, I guess everyone responds differently.
Biotin doesn't help hair grow back out of my dormant follicles, but the hair I do have left gets stronger, thicker and grows faster in a matter of a week, for me. I guess I take a high dose.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 23, 2019 2:23 AM |
R20, did the Shiseido stuff work good?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 23, 2019 4:27 AM |
R26 It seemed to make my hair stronger, and it smelled good! I was young and had long hair at the time, and blow dried often. I was buying some things at a Shiseido counter, and was "sold" it. I used it for several years until I realised it had this estrogenic compound, and stopped using it. It was quite expensive, and came in a glass bottle. There were herbal compounds too, which were meant to promote increased circulation. It was definitely marketed as a men's hair tonic, but I didn't think estrogen was a good thing.

A fool and his money are soon parted.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 23, 2019 8:05 AM |
R28 In my case, in all honesty, the beautiful bottle with Japanese characters and the delightful fragrance was worth the money to me. It had a nice tingley feeling as I massaged it into my scalp too. I wasn't necessarily a fool, just rich, and without any financial responsibilities at the time. Being young, without a mortgage, any debt, dependents, or a payroll to meet was the perfect time to treat myself to such indulgences.
At almost £40 in the 80s, I wouldn't buy it now, even without the hormone, but people want to do whatever they can afford to have healthy hair.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 23, 2019 8:17 AM |
r25 yes it took that long for me to see the results but it was worth the weight. I take 10000 mcg a day. My nails are unbelievably strong now. They used to be thin and papery. My hair, although I know it's not growing it out of old dead follicles, is super strong and healthy looking.
Biotin a cheap fix for getting the vitamins we need for hair and nails. 10,000mcg a day is need for the results (most people)
For hair growth...at least 5% Minoxidil twice is a way to start...anyones will do as long as it's 5%
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 23, 2019 12:06 PM |
I'm not quite sure I believe the hype, nor do I understand the mechanism by which it works, but for several years I've read about Nizoral shampoo having an ability to arrest hairloss and thinning.
Removing DHT thoroughly from the scalp is said to be key in keeping as much hair as possible with MPB, but am curious as to HOW an antifungal agent could do this more effectively.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 23, 2019 6:27 PM |
I thought Nizoral worked by killing fungus and bacteria which block hair follicles
by Anonymous | reply 32 | December 23, 2019 8:15 PM |
R32 Interesting, reading about it, It was said to increase the diameter of the hair shaft, and new hairs. How would this work in those without Dandruff or M. Furfur colonisation is the real question.

by Anonymous | reply 34 | December 23, 2019 8:37 PM |
I used RX Nizoral shampoo for quite sometime and has made no difference in my hair whatosever. However, i already have quite a head of hair, so maybe that's it.

R35 Nizoral doesn't work very well on it's own (plus you need to leave it on for 20 - 30 minutes), works well at blocking more 5AR (DHT) when used in conjunction with Finasteride (Propecia).

by Anonymous | reply 40 | December 23, 2019 11:20 PM |
Rogaine is a waste of time. Propecia (finasteride) really works. A welcome side effect is that it cleared up the prostatitis I'd been suffering from for years. If I stop taking it, the prostatitis returns. I don’t have any erectile dysfunction but I'm definitely much less horny than before. It has the effect also of reducing the volume of sperm and the ejaculate is less thick, almost watery. I think that's why the prostatitis is better, everything comes out easily and there's no back up of sperm or pressure on the tubes/prostate post-ejaculation as before. It has a reputation for making you depressed, and I do suffer from low key moods and apathy but that's infinitely preferable to prostatitis and a bald head. Everyone says what an amazing youthful head of hair I've got.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | December 24, 2019 12:10 AM |
R40, those are just internet companies that send propecia to you when you send them an Rx
by Anonymous | reply 42 | December 24, 2019 1:07 AM |
I’ve been using Propecia since the FDA approved it in 1997. I have retained a decent amount of my hair. I do not have ED and I definitely do not have a decreased libido. Unlike R41, it did not stop me from having recurring prostatitis for several years, but I haven’t had that in a few years. One benefit is that my prostate has not enlarged.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | December 24, 2019 2:47 AM |
R42, R43 You make great points for men greater than 40ish, which is not old. Listen up. Per my urologist, eventually all men will suffer prostate enlargement, if they don't die first. IMHO, there's nothing wrong with losing your hair! A man can be attractive and/or sexy bald. Just own who you are.
I was shocked to learn The DL considers 45 "eldergay" so i'm elder. Specifics of appearance don't matter to me if a man's genuine, honest and respects me. Muscles never appealed to me, but i can't have sex with an ugly man. My genetics are that my relatives generally look and feel younger. I've always had abundant, thick hair. Yes, my hair thinned, but still have a lot. Per my urologist, i have a naturally large prostate; i found it easily. Usually shoot big loads. First of the day often hits my face and sometimes my headboard. No prostate symptoms and my PSA test is normal. I bottom because a top's dick on my prostate feels great and i can orgasm by just getting fucked. Still pre-cum big and can orgasm by just kissing or having nips worked. I'm not a 10, but not a 3. Many gay men think life & sex are over at 40, which they've stated here. I didn't start having great sex that lasted all night until i was 30. Youngsters are often rushed and cum too fast. Hope you don't mind that i "overshared".
Many men i've known use Rogaine; it usually works, but only for male pattern baldness per instructions. Propecia is excellent,if a very few don't mind some mild side effects; life isn't about sex. Don't waste your money on OTC products per my dermatologist. Happy holiday!

by Anonymous | reply 47 | December 24, 2019 11:59 PM |
R47, Dutasteride, a DHT blocker. It's for an enlarged prostate and other diagnoses. Sort of similar to Finasteride (Proscar/Propecia), but from a different company and often more expensive. It will treat baldness.

Want to say thanks to R5 R6 R30 and others that mentioned biotin. I started biotin the week of Christmas, and while I don't know if I'm getting any new hair (I have a lot of hair, just that it's very thin), but I've noticed that I'm no longer having to clean hair out of the shower drain.

by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 7, 2020 2:56 PM |
Another vote for Nizoral shampoo. I don't know how/why it works, but it is amazing. I hope it stays (realatively) under the radar as just a dandruff shampoo, or they are going to jack those prices up to kingdom come. (And I will still buy it, and those cunts probably know it too.)
by Anonymous | reply 51 | February 7, 2020 3:08 PM |
R47 Avodart has already been approved in Europe and Japan for hairloss, but not in the US, although it is only a matter of time.
I considered using it, as I am on Propecia currently, but decided the possibility of a little more growth wouldn’t be more important than possible side effects which some say are more common thab with Propecia.
Propecia changed my life. I am 30 with a full head of hair as opposed to bald at 23 like my father and brother. I do not believe I have sexual side effects. I have sex or jack off at least once a day. My erections may be a little less hard than if I was not on Propecia, but I will never know.
Some of the rumors about Propecia are just that. You have some people who claim that it causes ED long after you stop taking it. That makes no sense. If it is out of your system then it is out of your system.

R50 Probably anecdotal, but I usually only have to shave every 4-5 days. That's gone down to every 3-4 days since I've been taking biotin. I haven't noticed anything with my chest hair.

Any negative side effects from taking 10K mcg of biotin? (That dose being 33,333 percent above the RDA.)
by Anonymous | reply 58 | February 8, 2020 10:56 PM |
Found this R58:
Safety Biotin is considered very safe. Even mega doses of up to 300 milligrams (mg) daily to treat multiple sclerosis have not led to adverse side effects (33).
To put this in perspective, 300 milligrams is 10,000 times the commonly recommended 30 microgram dose for adults.
Because it's a water-soluble vitamin, excess amounts are excreted in urine.
However, there have been some reports of high-dose biotin causing strange results on thyroid tests, so check with a doctor before using if you are currently taking thyroid medication (37).
Summary: Biotin appears very safe, even at extremely high doses. There are no known side effects of supplementing with biotin.

Order gooseberry powder from Amazon. It’s called Amla.
Stir it in water or juice. Drink every day. Get thick hair.
Topical treatment: Jamaican, black castor oil. Rub it on to your scalp, place a secure plastic cap, and place it over your head. Make sure to grab a pillow you can hide and never use, other than when you do this oil treatment, and use the cheap linen. Go to sleep. Rinse out the treatment. Shampoo and condition hair. Style. Do this once or twice a week.
Monistat. The Frauen stuff. Go to Cheryl’s house and raid her medicine cabinet, because she’s obviously not using it. Apply it on to your scalp. Leave on overnight, like the oil. Do not do this more than once a week. Unfortunately, when you discontinue use, your hair will go through excessive shedding for several days, to a week. Not recommended if you have skin conditions or autoimmune conditions that predispose you to systemic Candida.
Wear latex gloves when handling any of these treatments, obviously.
Eat salmon 3x a week.
Egg whites daily.
Daily Biotin supplements, along with Keratin supplements. Folic acid. Easiest solution? Prenatal vitamins, daily. Yes. They work for men, too. Keratin will have to be purchased in addition to the prenatal vitamins. Hair vitamins only work properly when consumed with Keratin. Source: Dermatologist.
