She is awesome! First watched her show on local access channel with an older boyfriend when I first moved to the city in the late 80s. He was an old time NYer and his friend, a lesbian who was a slightly more glam but equally freaky version of her, was friends with Robin. When he took me to Fire Island and I hung out with her, I felt so cool. I assumed she was a drugged out mess who would die young. But she was just crazy. And fun. Totally unpretentious.
I love that she is still around - both in Fire Island and NYC (she does occasional tea dances on Sundays at Monster). One of the few connections to old school NYC. So glad she is alive and well. A truly fun, warm, seemingly loving person. Never seen her upset. Long live Robin Byrd.

Thank you R2 -- that is exactly the sort of story I was hoping to get, someone who'd actually met her.
I do remember that she was always upbeat and that she'd talk about pron scenes with her guests like she was discussing the PTO bake sale.

I mean, can you describe to us the actual steps you will say that you took to find the other threads that you inevitably will tell us you couldn't find? Did you use google? Did you? Tell us. DID YOU!
