i love how Dems think winning the Senate is easy. Hillary won by 3 million votes and still lost the electoral college. Trump is going to lose the 2020 popular vote by upwards of 5 million--and that may not be enough to prevent the same thing from happening. Impeachment is actually ramping that up--its firing up both parties but in the states that actually matter, he's getting a small but real bump.

Democrats routinely get 5-10 million more votes in Senate races (nationwide) and remain in the minority. And unlike Trump voters, Dems still haven't figured out a way to turn their vote out in off year elections with any regularity. The result is that in a great year, Dems get small margin victories and then Dem incumbents get wiped out in off year elections. Look at what happened in 2018 to the three Democratic senators--all worked hard to stay competitive, ran quality races against middling to weak opponents and lost by 4-10 points on election night. and that was an amazing night for Democrats nationwide. Structurally, we're fucked. And the result is lots of elderly Dems staying in power because literally thousands of Dem officeholders between congress, senate, and statehouses get flushed out in off year elections.

funny how some people talk about the ways repubs have changed in just 4 years. It's true they've gotten WORSE but they've been garbage for the last 50 years. Look at all the "principled" repubs who were associated with Reagan and the Bushes who are now up Trump's ass (whether real or just for the cameras).

It is true that the Republican Party (largely through blowhards like Levin) has been slowly ramping up to someone like Trump for decades. I think a lot of Never Trumpers still haven't come to terms with that. They think their party was hijacked, but the base rejected them, not Trump.

Levin is a pig, and is the most annoying and patently miserable voice of the right in America.

I honestly think his rants are more terrifying than the other guys. He always starts out quiet, and by the end he's pretty much screaming and exhorting straight into the camera. Pure uncut populist-fascist demagoguery.

Trump may fix this. By which I mean, the back lash against him may be so severe in 2020 that the Dems win more state houses, and are therefore be in control when the 2020 census is used to redraw congressional districts, nationwide, to be used for the next 10 years. Then, in 2022 or 2024, we may find considerably more Dems in Congress. That is my hope, anyway.

Levin's FOX News show is an example of how Fox is part of the Republican party....They give him a bullshit timeslot where nobody watches but the contract is rich enough that he is essentially being paid to be a megaphone for Trump. If he were to speak against Trump, he'd lose his show immediately. Not that he would ever do that, but part of what Fox does is spread big money around in order to keep people in line.
