This film captured him at peak hotness, no? I've never really thought much of him, but he was gorgeous in this movie.
It’s one of my favorite movies and I find it utterly unerotic. He is objectively attractive, but he does nothing for me.

He used to be a beautiful man and a real movie star but I don't remember even once wanking to him like I've done to countless other male stars. The only thing I ever found truly interesting about him were the gay rumors, and I did like him as Lestat. Then the cult happened and my indifference turned into dislike.
BTW, I've never seen him as a great actor. He's a true movie star but he's never been very versatile. I remember being embarassed for his performance in Magnolia. He was certainly acting his ass off but he was totally unable to sell the emotional aspect of the scene, like there was a serious disconnect between what he was doing and what his character was supposed to feel. It was like watching a sociopath perform. A sociopath who doesn't realize how fake he comes off as.
Cruise was sexy to a point in Eyes Wide Shut and I agree that was probably him as his hottest but the movie itself felt rather lame. It's well made, for sure, but it's missing something to make it a truly great film.

R2 Disagree totally about the film. It’s great. I just think you have to watch it for its hidden meanings (as is the case with all Kubrick movies, including ones that are more entertaining on the surface) and ignore the red herring that the movie is supposed to be “erotic.” It’s not about that at all.

His acting is so crappy that it undermines any hotness factor. His worst performance that I've seen.

He is hotter in Magnolia.
