When I list something on ebay and it doesn't sell

I always feel rejected.

And stupid for buying the thing I'm trying to sell that nobody wants.

Yeah, pretty stupid.

OP what the fuck is wrong with you? How the hell do you even manage to use a computer let alone post on Datalounge? You are one of the rudest son of a bitches I’ve ever encountered on here in years. There’s already been a thread on this OP. As a matter of fact, you selfish asshole, there have been several threads on this, but ohhhh nooooo “I don’t have to do a search” says Mister Head Up His Ass. Well pull your fucking head out of your ass for once in your life you selfish son-of-a-bitch and have some consideration for others for a change and do a goddamn search first. Is that going to kill you? Is it? Can you just answer that question? Can you? Is it really going to kill you to do a search first? What is wrong with you? Are you that much of an idiot that you can’t use Google? Don’t even try the old “search function doesn’t work” line because every cunt on here knows how to work around that. Do a search before you post a thread next time you fucking asshole. You’ve ruined my day and I hate you.

Does anyone still buy on eBay anymore?

by Anonymousreply 3December 11, 2019 11:13 PM

R3 Still beats swap meets and garage sales. Lots of stuff on there may not be worth much, or worth buying, but it's always fun to browse.

by Anonymousreply 4December 11, 2019 11:15 PM

I bought something on there a few days ago for the first time in years. It was something very specialized that I couldn’t find elsewhere.

by Anonymousreply 5December 11, 2019 11:16 PM

Unfortunately, a lot of scammers got hold of the site. Ebay just looks the other way. If you think you got a deal on a dvd box set or priceless autograph, think again.

Start the bidding out at zero. People love to feel like they got a bargain or "won". You have to get them in a competitive or casino mindset.

I sold an old Volvo wagon like that. Near the end of the bidding it was nuts. It sold for $1,200- just about what I thought it was worth. But if I had put that as the buy-it-now price, no one would have bit.

by Anonymousreply 7December 11, 2019 11:20 PM

The problem with starting the bid at zero is you commit to selling it even at a loss.

by Anonymousreply 8December 11, 2019 11:23 PM

I still buy stuff on eBay (not very often, though). You can find stuff on there you can't find elsewhere.

I heard that the sales skew in favor of the buyer getting a refund.

R7, If you start the bids at zero do you at least put in a reserve price?

by Anonymousreply 10December 12, 2019 4:08 AM

The way sellers get sneaky with it is to have a "make offer" button but have a hidden reserve. For some sellers, that hidden reserve could be 90% of the asking price, but the buyer may be suckered into making additional offers when his initial bid gets turned down.
