Fred Arminson can not be normal.

He had a grandfather who was Korean but pretended to be Japanese when he immigrated to Germany. Now there is a museum dedicated to FRED'S grandfather, in Japan.

by Anonymousreply 91April 5, 2020 8:12 AM

He's a freak who mentally/emotionally abuses women, OP. It's well documented on Jizzabel and similar blogs; just google it.

by Anonymousreply 1December 8, 2019 2:34 AM

He is Armisen.

by Anonymousreply 2December 8, 2019 3:16 AM

R1

He is losing interest in his partners really fast and constatly cheats. It's shitty, but abuse? Really?

by Anonymousreply 3December 8, 2019 3:18 AM

Do they have sex with each other?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 4December 8, 2019 3:21 AM

R4

Lol. She is so out of his league, it's insane. But they were together for five years.

by Anonymousreply 5December 8, 2019 3:32 AM

Why should I care who he is living with? I really don't.

by Anonymousreply 6December 8, 2019 9:48 AM

They still are together R5.

by Anonymousreply 7December 8, 2019 10:03 AM

R7

Yeah, seems like it. Her last ig post is about him.

by Anonymousreply 8December 8, 2019 10:36 AM

He does not seem like a sexual being to me. I can't visualize him having sex with man or woman. I liken it to trying to visualize your parents getting it on. Ew. Just ew.

by Anonymousreply 9December 8, 2019 11:50 AM

R3, point taken... I don't mean to trivialize physical abuse or anything like that. But the online warnings from women who have been with him are a bit more than, "He was shitty to me." It's more like, "STAY AWAY FROM HIM!!! PLEASE I BEG WITH YOU WITH EVERY FIBER OF MY BEING!!!" So, I don't know exactly what dude is up to, but...

by Anonymousreply 10December 8, 2019 1:55 PM

Physical abuse? I’ve never read anything about that.

by Anonymousreply 11December 8, 2019 2:08 PM

You misread my post, R11, or I was not clear enough. No one here-- or anywhere, as far as I know-- is accusing Armisen of physical abuse. I said in my first post that he was alleged to have been mentally and emotionally abusive. R3 replied that the word "abusive" might be taking it too far, since no one has accused him of *physical* abuse. I agreed to consider that, but said that the warnings I've seen have nevertheless been alarming.

That's it.

Most of it is anonymous comments, now deleted from the net. This famous Fred Armisen has a reputation article on Gawker, written by Jordan Sargent, of all people. Author of infamous article that pretty much destroyed Gawker (among other things). This guy is a hack who helped crazy ex porn star blackmail private citizen. He would've sell his soul for a scandal.

Elisabeth Moss' comments are amazing though. Terrific burn. But it's obvious she was madly in love with him, and he just wasn't. It's sad, but not a crime.

by Anonymousreply 13December 8, 2019 2:26 PM

Elisabeth Moss isn't normal either. She was born into a cult and is still a member. I'm sure she is just as weird as Fred is.

by Anonymousreply 14December 8, 2019 2:27 PM

Knew Fred in the late 90's right before SNL. He was always "on" but that was okay because he was (usually) funny. Also fucked then dumped dozens of women just in the short time I knew him. Strange fellow but was always nice to me.

by Anonymousreply 15December 8, 2019 2:34 PM

Lots of Koreans took, or were forced to take, Japanese names when Korea was a colony of Japan. The grandfather became a famous choreographer during the war. There are about 2 million Koreans in Japan today who have Japanese names but Korean ancestry. They are called "jeil kyopo" in Korean or "zainichi kankokujin" in Japanese.

That said, I hate Fred Armisen and don't care who he is fucking.

by Anonymousreply 16December 8, 2019 2:40 PM

I have no idea why his family history makes him not normal. He's weird on his own.

by Anonymousreply 17December 8, 2019 2:49 PM

R15

So he was a slut even before he was famous? Really? And women was attracted to him?

by Anonymousreply 18December 8, 2019 3:12 PM

He's really funny in Documentary Now!

by Anonymousreply 19December 8, 2019 3:14 PM

R19

Yes! This show is amazing. I loved him in "Juan loves chicken and rice" episode. It was a serious acting, and he was surprisingly terrific.

by Anonymousreply 20December 8, 2019 3:31 PM

I actually also liked him on SNL. He was fearless performer, and i loved his gay chemistry with Will Forte. I remember at least three sketches with them fucking.

by Anonymousreply 21December 8, 2019 6:00 PM

[R15]

Yeah, he had an intensity and goofy charisma. He'd focus on a woman, be alternately silly jokey and super serious, and use these little seduction tricks (like using their name a lot.). Then he'd go info the kill and fuck them, dump them, ghost them. At the time, these girls weren't A-listers (mostly waitresses or aspiring whatevers) but all were out of his league. Gotta admit, Freddy was very impressive in his sociopathy.

by Anonymousreply 22December 9, 2019 3:47 AM

I knew him before fame. Yes girls liked him. He’s supposedly got a big penis.

by Anonymousreply 23December 9, 2019 4:26 AM

R22

People are using this word very easy those days. He sounds like a slut, maybe intimacy issues, but sociopath? Really?

by Anonymousreply 24December 9, 2019 5:35 AM

I pride myself on my gaydar, but I cannot see Fred fucking a woman. I am shocked he likes women.

by Anonymousreply 25December 9, 2019 5:48 AM

This was Elizabeth Moss's assessment:
“One of the greatest things I heard someone say about him is, ‘He’s so great doing impersonations. But the greatest impersonation he does is that of a normal person.’ To me, that sums it up,” the Mad Men actress, 29, tells Page Six Magazine.

She has crazy eyes. She is a devoted scieno, and she's a good actress, but there is something unsettling about her. But i do feel sorry for her in this marriage. She loved him, and it seems like he started cheating right after the marriage. He talked about Elisabeth with Howard Stern, and it seems like he never really loved her.

by Anonymousreply 28December 9, 2019 7:50 AM

I cant stand him. He's the opposite of funny. I want to slap tje smug right off his smirking face

by Anonymousreply 29December 9, 2019 8:21 AM

I wish i could find old sketch from SNL, where Fred and Will Forte were playing two robots, and Will was fucking Fred in the ass so hard his head was hitting the door. It was insane. I still remember the audience groaning and laughing nervously. Old sketch with Will reviewing their sextape is definitely online. Those two really were something on SNL.

by Anonymousreply 30December 9, 2019 10:01 AM

There was anti-Scieno blog several years ago where a few people claimed that they infiltrated Celebrity Centre in LA. One of their claims was that Moss is bipolar. I can't remember the blog's title, but it was discussed here on DL. The blog was scrubbed from the Internet shortly after the post about Moss.

No. It was the old sketch, and Will Forte and Fred were fucking in the end. I think Julia Louis-Dreyfus was in it as robot's owner.

by Anonymousreply 34December 10, 2019 4:55 AM

They also played BDSM couple in cold open with Nancy Pelosi. Fred was the ashtray. It's on YouTube. Unfortunately i can't post links.

by Anonymousreply 35December 10, 2019 7:43 AM

For much of his life, Fred had incorrectly thought his paternal grandfather to have been Japanese; his grandfather was actually born in Ulsan, Korea, and had adopted a Japanese name and persona after the massacre of Koreans in 1923 when he was a high school student.

Japan ruled Korea as a colony before the end of WWII. There were many Japanese who were born in Korea and many Koreans born in Japan

To this day, Koreans and Japanese are mostly cordial at best

by Anonymousreply 36December 10, 2019 9:30 AM

I love the "Women found him attractive?" comments...

Surprise, women aren't nearly as shallow and simple as most gay men. Some women need to be fulfilled in more ways than just abs and coiffed hair. I'm a gay man and would totally go out with Fred Armisen. I think he's funny and so odd, it's attractive. I've always like weirdly funny guys, which, unfortunately, turn out to be straight in my experience.

by Anonymousreply 37December 10, 2019 10:50 AM

He is clever. And judging by his comedy, he is a very good observer of human character.

I do wonder how his relationship with Natasha works. Is it open? She's fine with his cheating? Or he cleaned his act? Can you cure sex addiction?

by Anonymousreply 38December 10, 2019 5:30 PM

He's brilliantly talented. I loved him in "Documentary Now' and 'Portlandia'.

by Anonymousreply 39December 10, 2019 6:12 PM

I think he is pretty talented as a musician. Songs in musical episodes of Documentary Now are very catchy and good. Their Talking Heads episode is very good.

by Anonymousreply 40December 11, 2019 9:52 AM

R39 did you watch Forever with Maya Rudolf? I liked it; Wondering what others on here thought about it

by Anonymousreply 41December 11, 2019 11:21 AM

I am watching old snl episodes, and this guy is impressive. In one of the episodes he played parrot, and it was genius.

by Anonymousreply 42December 11, 2019 3:19 PM

Speaking of Forever, i do question his relationship with Maya Rudolph. They pitched Forever only because they wanted to work together. In NYT profile she said that being with him is pretty much her favorite thing in the world. It's strange to see such a friendship between two heterosexuals. Especially considering his slutty ways.

by Anonymousreply 43December 12, 2019 4:13 AM

Fred is funny!

by Anonymousreply 44December 12, 2019 5:05 AM

I wish to God Seth Meyers would stop doing the bits with Fred on Seth's show. Fred must have a huge piece of Seth's show and a solid contract. The bits are NEVER funny. Torture. And that's odd because Fred knows how to make funny snarky TV.

by Anonymousreply 45December 12, 2019 5:17 AM

The characters he plays in Portlandia are hard for me to watch. Not because he does them badly but because they cut too close to the bone. They are only slightly off real people, which is sorta genius. But I've known too many of those people in real life and can't stand them. (I regret every moment I've spent in their presence and any tolerance I've extended them.)

by Anonymousreply 46December 12, 2019 1:16 PM

The parody he and Bill Hader did on Documentary Now of Grey Gardens was one of the funniest things I have ever seen.

by Anonymousreply 47December 12, 2019 1:19 PM

Documentary Now is a masterpiece.

by Anonymousreply 48December 12, 2019 2:19 PM

I disagree. After watching all seasons seceral times, this episode doesn't really stand out for me. I loved their musical episodes and Juan loves rice and chicken. And of course, Marina Abramovich one, with Kate Blanchett and Fred playing himself.

by Anonymousreply 52December 14, 2019 3:56 AM

Genuine question - is it possible for a sociopath in personal life to be a good and loving friend and nice person in general? This guy is a friend with so many strong and interesting women - it's so strange considering his reputation of a sociopath who loves hurting women.

by Anonymousreply 53December 14, 2019 8:21 AM

He strikes me as someone who gets off on making fun of people. Right to their faces for as long as he can get away with it.

He has mastered subtlety and nuance.

I hope to never meet him. I’m sure I would feel like I’m being studied and appreciated.

This is more than slutty, quirky behavior. It's straight up text book sociopathy. Charm bombing, then gas lighting, and finally ghosting are all HUGE red flags. He obviously hates women. I wonder who he's punishing over and over again---for decades, with hundreds of women. Probably Mommy?

by Anonymousreply 68December 20, 2019 10:43 AM

Lots of women will ignore warnings about men like this creep. Because they like to fantasize that they're special and superior to other women. Only 'they' have the power to tame him and get him to change. They are competitive and envious with other women. If they can hold on to a difficult man, they feel like they won something.

Narcissistic and BPD women are drawn to these assholes-- over and over. And then act confused when they get the same treatment every other woman gets. Not so special after all.

by Anonymousreply 69December 20, 2019 11:15 AM

R68

Really? I am not arguing with you, there is something wrong with this guy. He did talk about how he never gets nervous, he said he doesnt have human emotions, those are red flags. Things you talk about are just a tricks of a seductive person.

by Anonymousreply 70December 20, 2019 11:34 AM

lol, complicated? maybe not. Take SoftBank's founder, Masayoshi Son, a second generation Korean in Japan, a role model for Korean Japanese. But back to Korea, Son's family was actually traced back to Chinese.

by Anonymousreply 71December 20, 2019 11:53 AM
Things you talk about are just a tricks of a seductive person.

Treating people like garbage? Making them doubt themselves and their sanity/judgement? Leaving them devastated because they fell for all the lies and manipulation? Getting off on humiliating people?

You think that's normal?

by Anonymousreply 72December 20, 2019 4:16 PM

R72

None of those things were mentioned in the post you quoted. How do you know all those things?

by Anonymousreply 73December 20, 2019 5:38 PM

Fred and Tina Fey? Old sighting from 2010 from Page Six.
Tina Fey and Fred Armisen with their kids in the Tecumseh Playground at 77th and Amsterdam, where witnessess buzzed over Fey trying to go unrecognized in sunglasses and a wool cap and “Fred Armisen was dressed as Fred Armisen, but no one was buzzing about him.”
by Anonymousreply 74December 21, 2019 3:21 PM

OP, you missed the best part. His grandfather worked for Nazi Germany and Japan at the same time.

by Anonymousreply 75December 23, 2019 7:25 PM

R74 "their kids"? Armisen's wikipedia article doesn't mention any children.

by Anonymousreply 76December 23, 2019 8:23 PM

R76

Yeah, that was strange. Maybe they meant her husband?

by Anonymousreply 77December 23, 2019 9:13 PM

Lol, Aubrey Plaza worked on SNL in design department when she was 19-20, and she was obsessed with him. She talked about it on WTF podcast. She was stealing his sketches and basically was stalking him.

by Anonymousreply 78December 24, 2019 5:09 PM

Why SNL men are so fucked up? Pete Davidson is another crazy slut.

by Anonymousreply 79December 28, 2019 2:47 PM

Because, R79, it takes an enormous amount of swagger and confidence to survive the cutthroat world of comedy—epitomized by the SNL pressure cooker. Normal people often can’t deal with the insanity of it. Narcissists and sociopaths thrive on it.

One of my favorite comedic actresses, Catherine O’Hara, was hired by SNL in the early 80s. She left after about a week. She said she just couldn’t take cutthroat environment. She has more talent in her little finger than Ivy League boy Colin Jost has in his whole body, but look who survived AND got the Weekend Update anchor spot.

by Anonymousreply 80December 28, 2019 3:13 PM

R80

But Bill Hader, who is a very sweet and decent guy, was the star of SNL. I am sure there are other perfectly decent snl stars. I never heard anything bad about Tina Fey or Dratch or Will Ferrell or Dana Carvey.

Also i am not sure Davidson is actually surviving SNL. He's never on and when he is on, he's terrible. At least Armisen is a workhorse.

by Anonymousreply 81December 28, 2019 3:21 PM

Agrees R81. Some normal people succeed. But I think it also depends on the particular mix of people on the show at any given time. And who’s in charge the writer’s room.

They used to call Phil Hartman “the glue” who held SNL together in the late 80s/early 90s. He always was portrayed as a great, normal guy. Then I watched the 20/20 special earlier this year, when they interviewed some of the women in his life (including his ex-wife before he took up with drug-addled, crazy Brynn). And quite a different picture emerged: namely, a passive-aggressive jerk.

by Anonymousreply 82December 28, 2019 4:17 PM

R82

What? I loved Phil Hartman, and i remember reading thread about this special or about his kids, and thinking - Of course. There was supposed to be something wrong.

by Anonymousreply 83December 29, 2019 2:39 AM

R83 I agree with R82 I loved Phil Hartman, but after watching the 20/20 special, I feel the same way as R82.

by Anonymousreply 84December 29, 2019 5:06 AM

I read thread about Phil Hartman's documentary, and it seems like he and Fred were very similar in the way they treated women.

by Anonymousreply 85December 30, 2019 4:33 AM

I must say that it's interesting how Armisen gets labeled as a sociopath and basically metoo-ed for being a whore who fucks a lot and doesn't like commitment, and someone like Michelle Williams with history of cheating and broken marriages is just a little messy.

by Anonymousreply 86January 2, 2020 11:08 AM

I had no idea he also dated Janeane Garofalo.

by Anonymousreply 87January 27, 2020 4:43 PM
and someone like Michelle Williams with history of cheating and broken marriages is just a little messy.

That's because women are portrayed as eternal victims in our culture. Ironically, that is eagerly taken up by many feminists, despite the fact that the "helpless female" is one of the prime rationalizations for women being subordinate to men.

by Anonymousreply 88January 27, 2020 9:18 PM

I have to give it to him, he was a good Bloomberg. Even more so in his old seasons, when writing on SNL was decent.

by Anonymousreply 89March 5, 2020 4:29 AM

He has eyes of a serial killer.

by Anonymousreply 90March 18, 2020 6:37 PM

What women see in him? He's dating Natasha Lyonne, who is talented, rich, succesful, attractive. And she's with that ugly whore.
