This is a great question, because I'm really struggling to think of good answers. The majority of men who come to mind are the 40+ generation, there are not any younger guys that I consider to be true role models for young gays. The problem seems to be that the guys that are idolised in the gay community are the hot ones who are more known for the contents of their underwear than the content of their character.

I would say that someone like Mike Parrow (Wrestler) who is challenging stereotypes and showing the world that there are different 'types' (for want of a better word) of gay man is important. For a long time the only famous out gay men were singers or camp comedians, and I think a lot of straight people were only ever exposed to that. Sportsmen, businessmen, politicians who are gay and visible are demonstrating that gay men come in all shapes and sizes, and contribute to society in as many ways and at as many levels as straight men.

The gay guys you listed aren't idols in the gay community, they're entertainment for straight women. Some of the gays I look up to include NPH, Matt Bomer, and Frank Ocean, all of which have done great things for gay men through their celebrity. Mark Morris has choreographed gorgeous dances for several decades now, and his company also founded a nationwide project of teaching dance to people with Parkinson's Disease to help them stave off disease progression.
