Pete Glezman sounds better. Was it because the new name sounded too Jewish, or because Pete is the Top and wouldn't take someone else's last name.
Why didn't Pete take Chasten's last name?
by Anonymous | reply 54 | December 2, 2019 10:45 AM |
Chasten explained this - because he has two brothers who will carry on the family name and Pete is an only child. He also took it so their children will have only one last name.
By the way, strategists advised Pete to change his last name to Montgomery (his middle name) because it would play better in a presidential campaign, but he was having none of that.

"The" top? How fucking stupid can you get? As if every relationship has a designated top and bottom. What an idiot.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | November 30, 2019 10:44 PM |
Mayor Pete is an alpha exclusive top. Get with the program.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | November 30, 2019 11:06 PM |
They switch, which is why they both have such well-balanced energies to them. Or it might be the Midwestern presence that's throwing me off.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | November 30, 2019 11:10 PM |
I guess he's trying to look butch or some shit. Except straight people think all gay men are the same. They don't make the distinctions that gay men do. So, he basically did it for nothing. God, I hate them. Especially Chasten. If I have to look at this guy's ugly face as the "first gentleman", I'm going to have daily meltdowns.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | November 30, 2019 11:21 PM |
R5= dyke.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | November 30, 2019 11:26 PM |
May not be a top vs bottom thing, but it defiantly an alpha vs beta thing. Lol at Chasten, god forbid their children have to live with a hyphenated last name. End of the day, it's their family and their business. We assume that First Ladies take on the President's last name. Pete had his eyes on the WH since her was a little gayling, no way would he take his husband's name.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 1, 2019 12:27 AM |
“Chasten Glezman” is both a horrible first and last name. Buttigieg was actually an improvement for poor Chastity.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 1, 2019 12:31 AM |
r5 You're just awful. Who the hell "hates" any of the Dem candidates and their spouses, regardless of one's policy disagreements with them? What exactly have any of them done to you? Unless you're a deplorable, that is.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 1, 2019 12:41 AM |
Ever hear of pointlrss bitchery?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 1, 2019 1:44 AM |
I feel like they try to be as close to a straight couple as possible. I’m not saying Chasten is feminine, but it seems like they promote him in a nurturing and supportive role to Pete. “I was fretting” “That man” “picking out china.” Taking Pete’s name. That’s as close to being a wife as you can be without a sex change! I don’t know if I even believe it. It could just be role playing to make themselves more relatable to clueless straight people. If instead they were two men with ambiguous “roles” I think it would be too confusing to people unaccustomed to gay couples. It’s almost like Pete and Chasten are purposely dumbing it down for these people. Strategy.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 1, 2019 2:06 AM |
Why can't you believe that they're just being themselves, R11? Chasten has similar statements to "I'm fretting" going back years. He's not the type to put on a show.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 1, 2019 2:10 AM |
Well, he has been a political spouse for years...
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 1, 2019 2:14 AM |
I like them.

Adopting a fake public persona that panders to the desired voting audience is part of the job.

r11 Gay couples - just like straight ones - have all sorts of different relationship dynamics. This just happens to be theirs and it obviously works for them. Chasten is a drama teacher who's been working with kids throughout his career - of course he'd be the nurturer. They didn't change this for the campaign.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | December 1, 2019 2:29 AM |
r15 We all put on an act when we're at our jobs. Or do you seriously act at your workplace the same way you do at home? Politicians have jobs when they're not home, so they adjust their behaviour accordingly. This isn't complicated.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 1, 2019 2:31 AM |
r10 I guess we understand that phrase differently, then.

by Anonymous | reply 20 | December 1, 2019 2:49 AM |
Pete MUST assume the alpha role, even if it doesn’t actually exist. As president he is the leader. Optically, it would be too difficult a concept for most straight Americans to comprehend if there was a man in charge that wasn’t “dominate.” It’s dated thinking to us, who are in the know, but it may be necessary to build a bridge with middle America.
People were iffy about Bill as first gentleman.
I think the gender revolution, as much as it is derided on DL, is helping to dispel these old ways of thinking.
And never mind that Nancy Regan wore the pants!

So are the screaming, name-calling, self-righteous attack dogs on this site paid trolls? They sure sound like it.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 1, 2019 2:55 AM |
W gotta be pointlrss now, too? I didn't sign up for that!
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 1, 2019 4:32 AM |
R14 I like them as well. Both have unusual names really, but I highly doubt "Glezman" was WTJ, or sounded "too Jewish". Most people know Chasten is German and was raised RC.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 1, 2019 4:51 AM |
I don't see why this would be a subject of interest. In hetero relationships, 20% of women don't take their spouses name.
Same sex marriage is new, we're typically older and have established careers and identities that don't require surrender of our identities. But thanks, OP, for pulling yet another Boris out of your ass in your relentless imaginary "issues".
by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 1, 2019 5:27 AM |
Chasten's family sucks, that's why. Brother "Rhyan" (jesus christ) is an anti-gay preacher.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 1, 2019 5:46 AM |
I love Pete and Chasten. They are a great couple and can't wait until they are in the White House. But the truth is a lot of gay marriages take on certain heteronormative traits. You don't see it as much with the lesbians.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 1, 2019 5:53 AM |
Glezman does sound a little bagel-y.

by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 1, 2019 6:23 AM |
Christ Pete is ugly at R27. The wife might actually leave him when he loses.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | December 1, 2019 6:27 AM |
I don't like Buttigieg. But I'll vote for him over Trump. I also think he's attractive (I don't like admitting that). And I really can't stand the name "Chasten" as a first name.
This is where I'm at presently. I know how important it is for you all to know, lol.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 1, 2019 6:30 AM |
R33 I'd vote for gas station sushi over Trump. And Chasten has a brother named RHYAN. He got off easy. God only knows what the 3rd one is named.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | December 1, 2019 6:32 AM |
This is a non-issue for me. None of my business and respect whatever was decided when they got married. Though, I'll admit that when I thought we would have a president with the last name of Bush (regardless of political party) I was a bit horrified. And then we had two of time!

by Anonymous | reply 39 | December 1, 2019 7:13 AM |
The more trivial the attacks on Pete are, the more confident I am of his winning. All this is good for the abusive trivialities Trump will try on him.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | December 1, 2019 7:31 AM |
They should call Chasten “Chuck.” It’s more butch and would appeal to Middle America. Catchy too.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | December 1, 2019 2:11 PM |
Bitchboy Buttigeig has a nice ring to it too. That would appeal to middle America. Democrats ain't ever voting for tiny racist Republican Pete.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | December 1, 2019 4:29 PM |
Except I don't think Chasten would go for that, R41.

Better than the affect of taking both names with a hyphen. Even straights have given up on the affectation.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | December 2, 2019 12:06 AM |
Buttigieg needs to got Hollywood and have a great plastic surgeon and possibly a cosmetic dentist renovate that weirdo smile.

Okay, my last name is European, but very undistinguished.. My BF's name (he's black) is a slave-master's name. When you walk into this discussion, you're walking into a firekeg. Maybe it's nice to think about, from the outside. I finally agreed to share my partner's name, but it was difficult for me. I agreed with my BF's choice (little German town + white slave master) came up with.
