R69 Vikander has struggled to follow up her excellent 2015 but she also has five projects primed for next year. You figure at least one will be good (the Gloria’s movie with Julianne Moore could be it). She’s a good actress who maybe had too much creative input in her films too soon.

Fassbender's career slump is a combination of overexposure and bad personal habits: He drinks like a fish and it began showing in his face fairly early. Also, he only works in certain roles. You can't cast him as an everyman or as a standard romantic lead. He really only works as antiheroes and villains.
Vikander was Harvey's last protege, wasn't she? Because otherwise, it's impossible to explain why such a bland and mediocre actress had as much success as she did so quickly. It's the classic Weinstein pattern (see also Lawrence, Jennifer).

The weird thing about this is that Peter Jackson was hellbent on casting her even though by the time the LOTR movies were actually happening, she had already seemingly aged out of the part - even though she was only about mid-30s she looked a lot older. I mean, I could have seen it back around the time of the Indiana Jones movie, but by the early 2000s...not.

I can't imagine anyone thought Radcliffe was the next big thing, considering it's hard to see him as anyone by Harry Potter. The fact that he's still working in film & theater seems admirable, since he could be sitting back getting high everyday & spending his HD money.
I argue that Angelina Jolie is another one - granted, she's a celebrity and a Meghan Markle type before MM became a thing, but I don't know that she ever became the actress that people thought she would be when she overshadowed it girl Winona Ryder in Girl Interrupted.
