by Anonymousreply 328January 28, 2020 11:33 PM

Wtf? Could they not have tased him first? Why shoot him like that? He was surrounded by three fully armed officers, ffs. Could they really not have subdued him?

by Anonymousreply 1November 29, 2019 2:11 PM

No fucking harm to shoot the bastard dead. Let it be a lesson to his fellow travelers.

by Anonymousreply 2November 29, 2019 2:26 PM

The courts are there to dole out lessons.

by Anonymousreply 3November 29, 2019 2:27 PM

Are you sure he was "surrounded" with no possible escape? Those special units in London are very highly prepared to snuff out such incidents QUICKLY before they steamroll, as they have in the past, to many casualties. Tough shit for the perp!

by Anonymousreply 4November 29, 2019 2:35 PM

The civilians who fought back are real heroes

by Anonymousreply 5November 29, 2019 2:37 PM

r4 Yes, there are several videos floating on Twitter right now. He was done in the end, but they still shot him. Seems cowardly.

I'm so glad Owen Jones was nearby so he could experience the panic and confusion while stone cold sober this time.

It's so very different when you're involved isn't it Owen.

by Anonymousreply 9November 29, 2019 2:48 PM

Is that a giant knife the guy in the foreground is holding before running away at the end of the clip?

by Anonymousreply 10November 29, 2019 2:56 PM

Yes, he disarmed the attacker.

by Anonymousreply 11November 29, 2019 3:01 PM

That's the famous London Bridge in R8's video? Not much to it.

by Anonymousreply 12November 29, 2019 3:04 PM

Glad to see your priorities are in order, R12!

by Anonymousreply 13November 29, 2019 3:07 PM

Brexit would have prevented this from happening.

by Anonymousreply 14November 29, 2019 3:12 PM

Another angle . I don't understand what's happening here. Everyone runs after the gunshot but was that the cops shot or his?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 15November 29, 2019 3:13 PM

Some say he had a suicide vest, but isnt it even more dangerous to shoot him if he had one? He was on the ground, why not shoot him in the shoulder or leg? He no longer had the knife and was probably unarmed.

by Anonymousreply 16November 29, 2019 3:24 PM

R15, the gunshots were from the police. From what I've read, the attacker had a knife (which another man wrestled off him after the stabbings) but no gun.

by Anonymousreply 17November 29, 2019 3:25 PM

Who cares if they shot him? Don't wanna be shot? Don't go out and stab people.

by Anonymousreply 18November 29, 2019 3:26 PM

Reporting he had explosive device on.

by Anonymousreply 19November 29, 2019 3:27 PM

Didn't appear to be a reason to shoot him from viewing both angles in those twitter posts. I hope the reality of the situation reveals the shooting was justified.

by Anonymousreply 20November 29, 2019 3:27 PM

Police confirm that it was a terrorist incident. The suspect is dead.

by Anonymousreply 21November 29, 2019 3:27 PM

I wouldn’t be running with that knife for fear a cop would shoot me too.

by Anonymousreply 22November 29, 2019 3:29 PM

R20 he might have been ready to detonate a vest.

by Anonymousreply 23November 29, 2019 3:29 PM

R22 looks like he was in shock. What did he throw away from his pocket?

by Anonymousreply 24November 29, 2019 3:30 PM

So I have an explosive device strapped to me in order to carry out a terrorist attack and I leave the house with a large knife because?

by Anonymousreply 25November 29, 2019 3:31 PM

But if you shoot him and he had the device in his hand the bomb could go off. It's just so weird to see someone being shot point blank without trying to arrest him first.

by Anonymousreply 26November 29, 2019 3:32 PM

The police say it was a fake bomb.

by Anonymousreply 27November 29, 2019 3:35 PM

Oh "it's just so weird". Bloody crissakes, take this to an Oberlin bakery.

by Anonymousreply 28November 29, 2019 3:35 PM

Shooting the (suspected) terrorist dead is common practice over much of Europe. Avoids uncomfortable questions that the media has no desire to investigate and the government has no desire to answer.

by Anonymousreply 29November 29, 2019 3:38 PM

^Cold blooded Freak

by Anonymousreply 30November 29, 2019 3:39 PM

R27 WTF?? What kind of self respecting religious lunatic wears a FAKE bomb?

by Anonymousreply 31November 29, 2019 3:41 PM

[quote]So I have an explosive device strapped to me in order to carry out a terrorist attack and I leave the house with a large knife because?

I watch movies made in Hollywood.

by Anonymousreply 32November 29, 2019 3:56 PM

In his press conference the Mayor referred to London as the world’s greatest city. I HATE this. There ISN’T a “greatest city.” Why do so many people and media outlets feel the need to do this? The Mayor also, of course, mentioned how diverse London is. He managed to leave out the word “vibrancy.”

by Anonymousreply 33November 29, 2019 3:57 PM

President Trump has been briefed and is monitoring the situation - I feel so much safer now.

by Anonymousreply 34November 29, 2019 3:59 PM

It arguably is. But no matter. Have you never heard a big city mayor speak?

by Anonymousreply 35November 29, 2019 3:59 PM

Those stabbed will probably have to deal with years of PTSD.

by Anonymousreply 36November 29, 2019 4:27 PM

Is the attacker Muslim?

by Anonymousreply 37November 29, 2019 4:46 PM

So they didnt need to shoot him. They should have been more compassionate and careful . Is that it? I wonder if you would feel the same way if you just watched this animal butcher someone you love.

by Anonymousreply 38November 29, 2019 4:58 PM

It would be nerve-wracking to live in London with all the knife and acid attacks, but also because there are so many suspicious looking people there.

by Anonymousreply 39November 29, 2019 5:14 PM

R39 with a very suspicious mayor

by Anonymousreply 40November 29, 2019 5:17 PM

Two civilians dead, not including the attacker.

by Anonymousreply 41November 29, 2019 5:52 PM

R39 come to America :P

by Anonymousreply 42November 29, 2019 6:26 PM

R39 at least we don't have daily spree shootings.

by Anonymousreply 43November 29, 2019 6:28 PM

I see Dominic Cummings has moved into the last wave of campaigning tactics.

by Anonymousreply 44November 29, 2019 6:31 PM

I've lived in London for nearly 40 years and have never met anyone who was a victim of a stabbing nor an acid attack. Those kind of events get in the papers cos they're so fucking rare, not because it's a daily hazard.

by Anonymousreply 45November 29, 2019 6:32 PM

I was raped.

by Anonymousreply 46November 29, 2019 6:35 PM

R45 Which part of London do you live? How often do you see people in a letterbox?

by Anonymousreply 47November 29, 2019 6:39 PM

R45 It cracks me up to see Yanks scared of traveling here when they're more likely to get shot at home than in an active war zone.

by Anonymousreply 48November 29, 2019 6:39 PM

London has turned into a dirty, crime ridden 3rd world shithole the last 15 years. Sad.

by Anonymousreply 49November 29, 2019 6:48 PM

Tow dead. Attack in Netherlands now

by Anonymousreply 50November 29, 2019 6:55 PM

How do the Miss It's-so-alarming-to-shoot-the-perp Things above, think about this now, knowing this human shit stain killed 2 people before being shot to death himself?

by Anonymousreply 51November 29, 2019 6:55 PM

Two dead.

by Anonymousreply 52November 29, 2019 6:55 PM

Yes in The Hague today. Where , also, 2 days ago, terrorist shit stains were arrested for planning holiday bombings.

by Anonymousreply 53November 29, 2019 6:58 PM

R35, it’s FAR from “the greatest city in the world.” The Mayor and others say that only because they suffer from an inferiority complex. It’s even ceased being looked on as a “cool” city. I go there every year and it’s steadily become overcrowded and dangerous and way too much like NYC. A lot of its charm has vanished.

by Anonymousreply 54November 29, 2019 7:12 PM

Some of those Dutch police are hot! Has anyone sampled their cop meat? Do we know if they escort on the side? I'd pay more for the "Spring Tulips Experience"

by Anonymousreply 55November 29, 2019 9:15 PM

News out of Britain that the terrorist was an ISIS member previously jailed in the UK for terrorism and then released with agreement to wear ankle bracelet and observe curfew. Had been guest at some conference in the City. Good God!

by Anonymousreply 56November 29, 2019 9:53 PM

So they held a conference for ex-cons (XConConference?) and then one of the convicted terrorists... committed a terrorist attack.

Oops.

[quote]News out of Britain that the terrorist was an ISIS member previously jailed in the UK for terrorism and then released with agreement to wear ankle bracelet and observe curfew.

That seems like such a European thing. With all those residual overseas territories, surely the UK has a place to ship terrorists to .

by Anonymousreply 58November 30, 2019 12:32 AM

The terrorist had recently been released early from UK prison for terrorist crimes. LOL. GB is so light on crime. If I ever decide to kill someone, I'm dragging them to England first.

Hopefully, Boris will set the tone to crack down hard on terrorists and suspects and do away with European coddling.

You can also see the object flying over the bridge around the 40-second mark of this video. Again, the footage is graphic.

by Anonymousreply 71November 30, 2019 1:52 AM

Listening to UK talk radio and of course a lot of the callers are engaging in self-congratulatory gushing over the people who put their lives at risk by neutralizing the terrorist. So predictable.

by Anonymousreply 72November 30, 2019 2:24 AM

[Quote]I didn't offer any thoughts or prayers. You let Islamic terrorists out of prison early (with nothing more than an ankle monitor!), you deserve what you get.

Well, the difference is in the UK he could only buy a knife and wear a fake device and stab 5 people (and sadly still kill 2). But in the US terrorists or lunatics can buy an assault weapon at Wal-Mart and kill 50 people. Both systems are obviously deeply flawed.

by Anonymousreply 73November 30, 2019 2:39 AM

Was the attacker on the ground when the police shot him dead? If so, I'm conflicted. On the one hand, the police shouldn't shoot him after they subdued him. But, on the other had, look at what wanker pulled after being released early. Tough one.

But the big news is some random Brit grabbed a narwhal tusk and joined in the fight.

by Anonymousreply 74November 30, 2019 2:43 AM

Are narwhals a sparkly animal from a Ye Olde England Narnia-like place?

by Anonymousreply 75November 30, 2019 3:04 AM

I wish the general public would morph into people who now turn on assholes like this and take them out.

First sign of shit like this and boom, swarm and attack!

by Anonymousreply 76November 30, 2019 3:04 AM

So did the stabber practice the religion of peace?

by Anonymousreply 77November 30, 2019 3:06 AM

by Anonymousreply 78November 30, 2019 3:07 AM

R75 Yes Rose .

by Anonymousreply 79November 30, 2019 3:08 AM

R69/70. If you zoom in and slow mo the video you’ll see the object you are describing is a pigeon flying off from the gunshot

by Anonymousreply 80November 30, 2019 3:12 AM

Fuck that towel head . I wish they would have revived him then shot his ass dead again.

by Anonymousreply 81November 30, 2019 3:14 AM

[quote]Well, the difference is in the UK he could only buy a knife and wear a fake device and stab 5 people (and sadly still kill 2).

87 people were murdered in Nice using just a rental truck. What’s your point?

[quote]Was the attacker on the ground when the police shot him dead? If so, I'm conflicted. On the one hand, the police shouldn't shoot him after they subdued him. But, on the other had, look at what wanker pulled after being released early. Tough one.

The perp and another man— Mr Narwhal?— were engaged in a struggle on the ground. The cops were helping to pull Narwhal away while keeping the perp on the sidewalk. As the one cop pulls Narwhal to safety, the perp attempts to leap up from the ground (odd that there was no cop holding him down). That’s when he was shot.

by Anonymousreply 82November 30, 2019 3:37 AM

R82, I think one or more of them saw the fake suicide bomber vest and thought it was real. The cop pulled the guy off the islamic terrorist and neutralized the fucker. I hope it was a painful death, though muslims the world over believe the fucker went straight to the islamic paradise for killing infidels as the islamic god demands and sanctifies, according to their mass murdering, child raping, enslaver prophet

by Anonymousreply 83November 30, 2019 3:46 AM

The only thing deeply flawed r73 is islam.

by Anonymousreply 84November 30, 2019 3:46 AM

R68 It’s a pity he didn’t shove it up The terrace arse and out through the top of his head.

by Anonymousreply 85November 30, 2019 4:52 AM

Whenever someone does something, it's always the standard response:

Muslim = terrorist Black/Hispanic = thug White = troubled mentally ill person

by Anonymousreply 86November 30, 2019 5:09 AM

Muslims can be white moron.

by Anonymousreply 87November 30, 2019 5:19 AM

Sure, but this is acting like Muslims can never be mentally ill. There's a double standard here where someone can be White, Christian, and can get away with doing something based off mental illness. The same cannot be said for Muslims or others. Usually this is a result of bigotry and acting like non-white non-Christian groups are lesser than others.

by Anonymousreply 88November 30, 2019 5:28 AM

You really are dumb aren’t you, R20.

by Anonymousreply 89November 30, 2019 5:31 AM

[quote]this is a result of bigotry and acting like non-white non-Christian groups are lesser than others.

R88 Your post is a result of deflection based on woeful cultural ignorance and agenda.

by Anonymousreply 90November 30, 2019 5:36 AM

R90 Please explain. If a perpetrator of a crime happens to be a Muslim, somehow people (mostly right-wingers) act like his religion had something to do with it and all Muslims somehow share responsibility with that perpetrator. Time again I see this. I don't see this happening with White Christians perpetrators.

by Anonymousreply 91November 30, 2019 5:41 AM

R91 Yet another post displaying complete ignorance of Islam, Muslim societies, culture and mentality. But, carry on.

by Anonymousreply 92November 30, 2019 5:43 AM

No one can refute that these Muslim terrorists are acting out what's in the Quran and hadith. Moderate Muslims just say that these terrorists are taking Allah and Mohammed's words too literally. Just like with Christianity, you have to turn a blind eye to many fucked up things in order to be a "moderate".

by Anonymousreply 93November 30, 2019 5:49 AM

R91 Oh, are you telling me you are an expert on these topics? You can say what you want about Islam and how bad it is, but acting like 2 billion Muslims are all somehow conspiring with each other to attack others is conspiracy drivel, and shows true ignorance.

Do western people realize Muslims can have different interpretations of their faith like Christians can?

by Anonymousreply 94November 30, 2019 5:53 AM

[quote]Do western people realize Muslims can have different interpretations of their faith like Christians can?

For 1.7 billion Muslims, Islam is not a "faith" or a "religion". It is the foundation of their culture, mentality and lifestyle and very existence. Their lives are circumscribed by Islam 24/7/365. There is nothing else. No choice, no freedom, and certainly no diversion from, let alone interpretation, of The Truth.

by Anonymousreply 95November 30, 2019 6:02 AM

This bloody Muslims was an ISIS supporters? And just few hours back Muslim lovers on this thread were weeping and complaining about why those cops shot the poor Muslim

Cambridge University has become a hub of Muslims terrorist 😱

by Anonymousreply 99November 30, 2019 6:45 AM

In fact, Boris Johnson has explicitly said that he would not limit immigration.

Also, the existing conservative government has not done anything to curb radicalization of Muslim or punishing the Jihad terrorist.

Brexit party is also a joke .

This election is dentfinely lenaing towards conservatives but It will not be landslide

by Anonymousreply 107November 30, 2019 7:07 AM

The attacker was an invited guest by The Cambridge Centre for Community, Gender and Social Justice Studies, for their 'Learning Together Alumni Event'. by Anonymousreply 126November 30, 2019 1:42 PM

The problem is that the Quran is all about killing infidels. The goal is to take over the world and create an Islamic empire: the caliphate. Muslims who commit these attacks aren't distorting the Quran - they're following it. Muslim leaders aren't condemning the actions of terrorists because many on them are on their side.

by Anonymousreply 127November 30, 2019 2:08 PM

[quote] Quran (5:33) - "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement."

[qupte] Quran (17:16) - "And when We wish to destroy a town, We send Our commandment to the people of it who lead easy lives, but they transgress therein; thus the word proves true against it, so We destroy it with utter destruction."

[quote] Quran (48:29) - "Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. And those with him are hard (ruthless) against the disbelievers and merciful among themselves."

The concept of "jihad" is mentioned frequently in the Quran.

There has to be a prioritization of values. That way when there is a clash, we have some idea of which values take precedence of which. In a western democracy, democratic enlightenment values have primacy, (tell me if you disagree.) Like equality of men and women.

Islamic values are fine in a democratic country as long but they can't override it's democratic values. There are also universal values we uphold. Such as equality, justice, liberty, that we uphold and support everywhere.

Some countries may not consider them universal, or applicable in their own countries. They may think what we consider undemocratic values to be superior. Like the status of women in an islamic society.

Naturally they will promote them. Naturally we promote ours.

But we cannot support clashing values within our own society. We cannot support values like the inferior treatment of Muslim women in our own society even if Muslim residents wish to do so. And even though we generally agree people should follow whatever religion they wish.

These values have to be subservient to ours if they want to live here.

by Anonymousreply 160November 30, 2019 5:07 PM

From the inbreeding link:

But inbreeding is an issue that needs to be addressed, some European leaders say. The problem is that genetic deficiencies from consanguineous marriages is taxing European healthcare systems.

The BBC’s research, for example, found that that while British Pakistanis accounted for roughly 3.4% of all births, “they had 30% of all British children with recessive disorders and a higher rate of infant mortality.”

One study found that each year 700 babies in the UK are born with genetic disabilities as a result of consanguineous marriage. Despite this epidemic of genetic defects in babies born from consanguineous marriages, there remains a reluctance in many Islamic leaders to acknowledge the full ramifications of marriage between cousins (see below).

by Anonymousreply 161November 30, 2019 5:26 PM

As long as it is not illegal, they can marry whoever they wish.

by Anonymousreply 162November 30, 2019 5:30 PM

Fuck off, R134.

by Anonymousreply 163November 30, 2019 5:31 PM

Cousin marriage should be banned. If they want to marry first cousins, let them go back to their culture.

from wiki:

Germany[edit] A fourth of all marriages among Turks in Germany are marriages to a family relative according to Essener Zentrum für Türkeistudien.[115]

The Netherlands[edit] The Netherlands has also had a recent debate that has reached the level of the Prime Minister proposing a cousin marriage ban. The proposed policy is explicitly aimed at preventing "import marriages" from certain nations like Morocco with a high rate of cousin marriage. Critics argue that such a ban would contradict Section 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, is not based on science, and would affect more than immigrants. While some proponents argue such marriages were banned until 1970, according to Frans van Poppel of the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute, they are confusing cousin marriage with uncle-niece marriage.[116]

United Kingdom[edit] In the English upper and upper-middle classes the prevalence of first-cousin marriage had remained steady at between 4% and 5% for much of the 19th century. Then quite suddenly, after the First World War, cousin marriage became very unusual. By the 1930s, only one marriage in 6,000 was with a first cousin. A study of a middle-class London population conducted in the 1960s found that just one marriage in 25,000 was between first cousins.[117]

There has been a great deal of debate in the past few years[when?] in the United Kingdom about whether to discourage cousin marriages through government public relations campaigns or ban them entirely.[citation needed] The debate has been prompted by a Pakistani immigrant population making up 1.5% of the British population, of whom about 50-70% marry a first cousin.[118] In the 1980s researchers found that children to closely related Pakistani parents had an autosomal recessive condition rate of 4% compared to 0.1% for the European group.[118] For example, Environment Minister (later Immigration Minister) Phil Woolas said in 2008, "If you have a child with your cousin the likelihood is there'll be a genetic problem" and that such marriages were the "elephant in the room".[119] Physician Mohammad Walji has spoken out against the practice, saying that it is a "very significant" cause of infant death, and his practice has produced leaflets warning against it.[120] However, Alan Bittles of the Centre for Comparative Genomics in Australia states that the risk of birth defects rises from roughly 2% in the general population to 4% for first cousins and therefore that "It would be a mistake to ban it".[121] Aamra Darr of the University of Leeds has also criticized what she called an "alarmist presentation of data" that exaggerates the risk.[122]

A 2008 analysis of infant mortality in Birmingham showed that "South Asian" infants had twice the infant mortality rate and 3 times the rate of infant mortality due to congenital anomalies.[118]

by Anonymousreply 164November 30, 2019 5:34 PM

If you don't like cousin marriage, ban it. Then jail anyone who does so and breaks the law. Simple.

by Anonymousreply 165November 30, 2019 5:38 PM

Usman Khan was speaking after his address was raided by anti-terror police in 2008. He later admitted being involved in a terrorist conspiracy.

In 2012 he was sentenced to indeterminate detention for "public protection" with a minimum jail term of eight years.

But in 2013 the Court of Appeal quashed the sentence, replacing it with a 16-year-fixed term of which Khan should serve half in prison.

He was released in December 2018."

Anyone who has worked or lived with muslims knows that the percentage of Muslims who are violent terrorists is vanishingly tiny enough for it to be disgraceful to attribute terrorism with that religion. (Just like it was disgraceful to associate usury and international economic domination with Judaism.) Yet there are people who want muslims to be seen as monsters — that makes it so much easier to steal their land.

Islam is totally different from Christianity and Judaism, r190.

In Islam, the Koran must be followed to the letter (because it's supposed to be the actual words Allah told to Mohammad to write down and preach)

And, the Koran is full of orders to kill non-muslims. No other major religion has a book that both has to be followed to the nth degree and also orders its followers to kill all non-believers.

"The poisonous islamophobes, many of them probably zionists, at busy at work here, but we’re strangely silent about religious terrorism when a Christian gunned down 470 people in Las Vegas."

You send to have conveniently forgotten about 9/11. You are also strangely silent about the following:

On 7 January 2015, two brothers, Saïd and Chérif Kouachi, forced their way into the offices of the French satirical weekly newspaper Charlie Hebdo in Paris. Armed with rifles and other weapons, they killed 12 people and injured 11 others.

2015, Paris: Belgian-born Salah Abdeslam, 29, had links to Isis which claimed responsibility for the co-ordinated attacks that killed 130 people and left around 360 people injured in the French capital.

2004, Madrid: Fifteen years after the 2004 Madrid terrorist attacks that killed 193 people and left around 1,700 injured, eight of the 18 men sentenced by the Spanish Supreme Court for the massacre remain in prison. Of this group, three have been given improved conditions thanks to good behavior, including Otman El Gnaoui, an actual perpetrator of the bombings, according to penitentiary sources. The other five remain in the most restrictive prison regime.

Berlin, 2016: On 19 December 2016, a truck was deliberately driven into the Christmas market next to the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church at Breitscheidplatz in Berlin, leaving 12 people dead and 56 others injured. The perpetrator was Anis Amri, a Tunisian failed asylum seeker. Four days after the attack, he was killed in a shootout with police near Milan in Italy.

2004, Amsterdam: Van Gogh worked with the Somali-born writer and politician Ayaan Hirsi Ali to produce the short film Submission (2004), which criticized the treatment of women in Islam. It provoked outrage from the Dutch Muslim community. On 2 November 2004, van Gogh was assassinated by Mohammed Bouyeri, a Dutch-Moroccan Muslim who objected to the controversial film.

Germany, 2015/2016: During the 2015/2016 New Year's Eve celebrations, there were mass sexual assaults, 24 alleged rapes and numerous thefts in Germany, mainly in Cologne city center. There were similar incidents at the public celebrations in Hamburg, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart,Bielefeld and Frankfurt. For all of Germany, police estimated in a document leaked in 2016 that 1,200 women were sexually assaulted and that at least 2,000 men were involved, often acting in groups. Cologne police chief Wolfgang Albers stated that the perpetrators in his city were reportedly men of "Arab or North African appearance" and said that Germany had never experienced such mass sexual assaults before.

Just some highlights, the list is by no means exhaustive.

In 2016, French authorities stated that 15,000 of the 20,000 individuals on the list of security threats belong to Islamist movements. After the Manchester Arena bombing in May 2017, British authorities and MI5 estimated they had 500 ongoing investigations into 3,000 jihadist extremists as potential terrorist attackers, with a further 20,000 having been "subjects of interest" in the past, including the Manchester and Westminster attackers."

And those are just the numbers the EU is willing to publicly admit to - imagine, after Merkel recklessly threw open Europe's borders in 2015, what the true numbers are now...

It's just a constant media smokescreen of 'deny deny deny', alongside their knowingly untrue accusations of 'racism' made at anyone who fails to deny. All accompanied by the politicians' endless game of 'kick the can down the road'.

And, short of a mass-attack that dwarfs 9/11 (say chemical or even nuclear) none of that will change anytime soon.

Hell, even in the face of a mass attack, it still might not change, basically because too many people are too frightened of breaking the de-facto Blasphemy Laws under which all Westerners now live.

R192 If the Koran orders Muslims to kill Non-Muslims, how does this explain the fact that Non-Muslims have remained as an intact population for 1400 years in Muslim ruled lands? Why have there been instances of Muslim alliances with Jews historically, for instance? A lot of self proclaimed experts of Islam on this board, yet they mostly get their information from sources that aren't primary.

by Anonymousreply 206December 1, 2019 9:03 AM

A lot of Muslims interpret those 'kill' verses as historic against specific groups and temporary. The radicals interpret this as eternal and binding forever. So it's a matter of interpretation.

by Anonymousreply 207December 1, 2019 9:08 AM

[quote]Non-Muslims have remained as an intact population for 1400 years in Muslim ruled lands

Intact? Uh no. Discriminated against (jizya anyone?), persecuted, scapegoated, butchered and expelled.

[quote]Why have there been instances of Muslim alliances with Jews historically

You mean like that "alliance" with the Jews of Saudi Arabia whom Mohammed slaughtered when the Jews ceased to be useful? Like that?

[quote]So it's a matter of interpretation.

No, it isn't. It is one of the pillars of Islam, jihad against the Infidel until submission. Ongoing for the last 1,400 years and to be continued until non-Muslims submit or Islam is weakened/destroyed.

by Anonymousreply 208December 1, 2019 9:18 AM

Historically it was subjugation into the state of dhimmitude and impoverishing payment of the jizya that preserved any non-believers, but mainly they either converted or were automatically killed (men, mainly) often, the women were turned into sex slaves, sold or, if non-valuable, they were killed.

Remember, ALL of the Middle East and North Africa was non-Muslim. Those countries were all populated by Christians and Jews, and various Arabian Pagan tribes - until conquered 'at the sword' by Islamic warriors.

by Anonymousreply 209December 1, 2019 9:20 AM

r208 is exactly right

by Anonymousreply 210December 1, 2019 9:21 AM

Here is a visual for how vast - and how incredibly rapid - was the Islamic conquest over the Middle East and N. Africa, and then Spain. Mohammad was born somewhere around Mecca in the mid-7th century, and by the 9th century they were ruling all the land between Mecca and up to Northern Spain.

Keep on eye on the years- most of the spread happened in just under 200 years. That's what their astonishing level of brutality got them - total submission from the Middle East to Western Europe.

R208 R209 This is an extreme oversimplification of history. Why have the Yazidis been left alone until ISIS came along? Why have historical sites been preserved until ISIS? There were many cases where conversion wasn't even enforced and other faiths could practice their religions. They payed Jizya in exchange for not having to serve in the Islamic armies. Muslims also have to pay a tax called the Zakat. You're trying to paint this out as black and white with no nuances or difference in leaders and policies.

Unless you think some of the Muslims who ruled before didn't actually follow Islam.

by Anonymousreply 218December 1, 2019 11:54 AM

Wrong R216. What is an oversimplification is your apologist nonsense about the scourge of Islam. Historical sites preserved? You mean like the Bamayan Buddhas? Or Hagia Sofia? Islam has a long history of destroying "historical" sites that evince any other culture but Islam.

And it is black and white. Jizyah was not a tax for "charity" (zakat), but a tax, a punishment for not being Muslim.

The only difference between Muslim despots and their policies was the extent of brutality required to encourage Infidels to submit to Islam.

[quote]Muslims have been stealing other people's land for centuries.

To Muslims, they are not "stealing" anything. They are simply returning the "transgressor" to The Truth. Such as in Xtian Europe, which Islam spent 500 years attempting to reconquer. And they finally did it without firing a shot, thanx to gullible apologists. See this thread for myriad examples.

R219 Read some actual history and stop taking everything from right-wing sites with an obvious agenda. By your logic the Golden Age shouldn't have ever happened. Libraries and education centers where people of all faiths wouldn't have been encouraged to enter and share knowledge. This ended after the Mongols sack and burned Baghdad and other places.

Your link doesn't exactly support your point. The author states that it's a mistake to state that that time period was characterized as fully one or the other. There were leaders and periods of 'tolerance' and 'intolerance'. Your point that you are trying to prove is that the Islamic World has always been that of backwardness and intolerance, with no progressiveness or tolerance whatsoever. The author states that that is an incorrect oversimplification. That there were indeed some areas and leaders who were more progressive than others.

by Anonymousreply 223December 1, 2019 12:32 PM

[quote]That there were indeed some areas and leaders who were more progressive than others.

And it's YOUR erroneous oversimplification that Islam has ever been "progressive". And we both know that most certainly has NEVER been the case.

R222 The one mistake made by the author is that Byzantine Greeks had the ancient Greek texts already! No translation necessary. No need for The Irish to save civilization OR The Moselms to have translated texts either.

Another is how Moselms and Jews were treated in Western Europe They were treated pretty badly when compared to the Jews and Christians in Islamic Spain. Islamic Spain was no paradise BUT Christian Europe and Christian pain were extremely intolerant of non Christian religions and other Christian sects that disagreed with one another. Read about the problems that the Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic and Protestants had with one another.

by Anonymousreply 236December 1, 2019 1:50 PM

Many years ago, I met an academic who claimed that (I’m paraphrasing wildly here) Muslims were salty that Western civilization eclipsed them, and they wanted to return to the era where they were the cultured and civilized people.

At one time, Westerners were filthy and savage pagans, but Muslims were peaceful and clean and creating algebra and beautiful fine art. And the European brutes swept the world, colonizing, etc. And the Muslims just want to be top dog again.

I think about this, sometimes.

The most despicable hate crime against gays in the US was carried out by a devout Muslim.

Why shouldn't I be wary of people who devoutly follow a violent religion?

by Anonymousreply 240December 1, 2019 6:08 PM

R240, the Pulse nightclub shooting was brought up on a Jezebel thread a while ago and the posters were steadfastly denying that it was motivated by homophobia. They kept insisting it was a gay-on-gay crime, even though the FBI confirmed that the stories about the gunman's sexuality were hoaxes. SJWs feel uncomfortable about the prevalence of homophobia among radical Muslims, so they just pretend it doesn't exist.

by Anonymousreply 241December 1, 2019 9:22 PM

R192, but it is only muslims that a wreaking havoc around the globe, as they have been doing since their mass murdering prophet told them the islamic god said they should. The world has a big problem and it is called islam. I feel things are shifting quickly and the infidels are going to unit and say enough! You've killed, enslave, and raped tens to hundreds of millions of us, we will no longer allow you to kill us as your fast ticket to islamic paradise as you create hell on earth.

Besides all the violence being committed by islam, except for two or three, every one of the 57 muslim majority countries are abysmal places in so many ways, especially when it comes to human rights. Islam is VERY fucked up, that is the reason why muslims want to silence everyone from telling the truth about it.

by Anonymousreply 242December 1, 2019 10:28 PM

R237, that academic had it wrong, as so many have for so long. Muslims destroyed incredible civilizations from Constantinople to Persia, India, North Africa, the Holy Land. They appropriated everything from these lands, including culture, learning, slaves, money etc. There made have been a golden period but it wasn't this paradise they want to lie about....and it was islam that destroyed itself. Here is an excellent book about the devastation islam brought to the classical world. It was repeated all the way to The Philippines and is being repeated across the globe, in one form or another, to this day.

Islam has contributed little to nothing to the modernity.....maybe the numbers they stole from the hindus. No one is running to muslim-majority countries.....for good fucking reasons.

Basically all scholarship in the field of history is revisionist or negationist. It's the only way to get yourself published. If young people today are interested in knowing what actually happened in the past and what the actual impact was, they need to read textbooks from several decades ago.

by Anonymousreply 245December 2, 2019 12:43 AM

R245, you are correct that authors who speak truthfully about islam and islamic history face career death at best, mortal death at the hands of muslims, at worst. Theo Van Gogh comes to mind. However, there are several contemporary scholars who are telling the truth, such as:

Bat Ye'or many excellent books

Ayaan Hirsi Ali - Any of her writings or videos

Efraim Karsh "Islamic Imperialism a History"

Andrew G. Bostom "Islamic Holy War and the Fate of Non-Muslims"

Dario Fernandez-Morera "The Myth of Andalusian Paradise - Muslims. Christians and Jews under Islamic Rule in Medieval Spain"

Robert G. Hoyland "In God's Path - The Arab Conquest and the Creation of an Islamic Empire"

Ibn Warraq "The Islam in Islamic Terrorism - The Importance of Beliefs, Ideas, and Ideology"

Raymond Ibrahim "The Sword and Scimitar - Fourteen Centuries of War Between Islam and the West"

Robert Spencer "The History of Jihad"

Douglas Murray "The Strange Death of Europe"

Oriana Fallaci "The Rage and the Pride" and "The Force of Reason"

There are also recent books about the Armenian genocide, which also included the murder or exile of tens of thousands of Greeks from Turkey, books about the Hindu holocaust, and a few books about the current state of things in European countries, though these are very few. There is quite a lot once you start looking.

The Greeks for their occupation of Turkey and atrocities againt Turkish women and children and the Armenians for staging a rebellion and killing innocent Muslim women and children. In retribution, The Turks decided to get rid of all Christians. The Assyrians were not involved in the massacres against The Turks but were included anyway. The genocide against The Christians, had more Greeks and Assyrians killed per capita than Armenians! Julie Burchill has written a good piece on it:

"There will also be the usual platitudes about ‘not giving in to hate’, which means not expressing any anger and singing ‘Kumbaya’ while waving candles instead. If we say anything even slightly heated we are apparently in some way as bad as the attackers. But on the contrary, you give in to hate when you allow a violent fascist ideology free rein. As Christopher Hitchens said, ‘The barbarians never take a city until someone holds the gates open to them – and it’s your own multicultural authorities who will do it for you’. With each new attack we are told that this has ‘nothing to do with Islam’ – but even if that’s so, we’d be justified in thinking that Islam certainly attracts a higher proportion of murderous maniacs than any setup since the Manson Family."

Islam is unlike any other religion.

Just take the Salah, the ritual prayer. Described as a "physical, mental, and spiritual act of worship." The act is a series of movements and words repeated and repeated and repeated. If there's a mistake made it renders the prayer invalid and 2 prostrations have to be performed. From puberty to old age, every day, again and again, and again.

That is indoctrination and brainwashing at its zenith.

And then there's that central message. All religions have them. Islam has the worst, summed up in one word, SUBMISSION. For believers and non-believers as well.

What world wide religion can top that.

by Anonymousreply 306December 7, 2019 1:55 AM

Christians realized that much of the Bible was total horseshit a very long time ago. Muslims still believe in a literal interpretation of their holy texts, that must be followed without question. Christianity got rid of that garbage centuries ago.

R309 is so deluded that he thinks the rape and sexual assault of people from priests and rabbis never happen. To him it's only evil Muslims who do everything wrong and other groups are angels. Your information is wrong by the way. This is what really happened.

Lmao, a Youtube video is your source? My link, that you obviously didn't read through because it would ruin your narrative, explained what happened by word of the victims' mouths. Now you accuse me of being a Muslim because you are a raving prejudiced lunatic. I'm an atheist you ugly cunt.

Most atheist are Muslim lover

R298, nowhere in the New Testament does it say to hate or kill anyone. Even the violence in the Old Testament is historical. Islam is the only religion founded by a mass murderer, rapists and enslaver. Only the islamic texts have a diabolical god that orders muslims to kill, rape and enslave Christians, Jews and all non-muslims. Wake the fuck up.

Classic Muslim apologist babble

"Bible said terrible things too" "How about witch burning" "How about Inquisition and Crusades?" "How about Mike Pence?"

by Anonymousreply 317December 7, 2019 11:13 AM

Your own link stated that the perpetrators were North Africans speaking Arabic, and that they groped women.

Sexual assaults doubled in Bavaria between 2015 and 2016.

R319: that is a very typical reaction of the hard left. While I do agree, it's no use inciting hate, we also must not protect violent offenders, regardless of their race.

The only thing bad about this London bridge attack was that Jack's father was not standing next to Jack at the time of the attack

"Now you accuse me of being a Muslim because you are a raving prejudiced lunatic. I'm an atheist you ugly cunt.".

You like that word, "cunt", don't you? Cunt this, cunt that. Fine intellectual and rational thinker you are. Fact is, whether you like it or not, sexual assaults have increased in all European countries with a huge influx of Muslim immigrants. One "refugee" said after raping and murdering a woman, that it was "only a woman". You probably agree with him.

If your bar for how your religion conducts itself is "what about the crusades?" then you've already lost the argument. You're basically saying "Well, in the Middle Ages Christianity committed horrible atrocities, so all of the atrocities we've committed in the 21st century are justified." and it makes both you and the religion you're defending sound like brutish, archaic, violent morons. If you have to compare your religion to 1300's Christianity to make it sound civilized you've already failed at your objective.

by Anonymousreply 323December 7, 2019 2:58 PM

Please keep in mind, the Crusades were a reaction to Islamic expansion.

Speaking of nursing vipers, the shooter at the Pensacola Naval station was a member of the Saudi Air Force, training in aviation. Mohammad Saeed Alshamrani. “Federal law enforcement sources say he was ‘harboring anti-US and extremist views’. The FBI has not yet determined whether the shooting was terrorism-related. “

It’s not what you think, guys. He was just mistaken, shooting and killing US military. While he was living among them... why are we training these fuckheads?!

by Anonymousreply 326December 8, 2019 3:46 AM

R326 Because if we don't Americans will attack us for racism, islamaphobia, what have you. The American people, thanks to Twitter and other social media platforms, have become little more than an angry lynch-mob that will cause its own downfall.
