I've just discovered that Kelly Clarkson covered Imogen Heap's "Just for Now". And, if anything, she improved on it.

Nothing brings me back to my childhood & gives me the Christmas feeling like this album does. Itโ€™s a tradition to play โ€œIโ€™ll Be Home With Bells Onโ€ as we set up the tree

Carol for Another Christmas by Henry Mancini.

It was written for a Rod Serling Christmas tv movie and would have been forgotten forever had it not been featured on the WPIX Yule Log, which as a boy growing up in the NYC area was an absolute fixture of Christmas for me.

Itโ€™s the very last song played, I mean before Joy to the World, which also begins the Yule Log.

Itโ€™s poignant and lovely.

And for a rousing medieval touch, I love Gaudete. Itโ€™s so cool and really puts you in a medieval frame of mind.

"Mistletoe and Holly" and "I'll Be Home For Christmas" - Frank Sinatra

"Silver Bells" and "Toyland" - Doris Day

"The First Snowfall" - Carpenters

"Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" - Judy Garland

And anything on the "Voices Of Christmas" album by the Voices of Walter Schumann. Released on vinyl in 1955, it finally made a brief appearance on CD in 2007, before disappearing a few years later. On Amazon at the moment, the CD is offered at $249.99 (new, unopened). The LP goes for way less -- but imagine the pops, scratches, and hisses on an LP from 1955! The Amazon customer comments regarding the album are mostly 5-star, and an interesting and sometimes hysterical read.

"The Voices of Christmas" is a blend of familiar holiday tunes ("Frosty the Snowman," "The First Noel," "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "The Christmas Song," etc. and lesser-known tunes ("Christmas in Killarney," "Christmas Chopsticks," "Lully, Lully, Lu," "Christmas Gift," etc. Walter Schumann's main claim to fame is that he composed the "Dum-Da-Dum-Dum" theme for the "Dragnet" TV show.
