Anyone remember these two idiots? They kidnapped people, held them hostage and tortured them to death? They’d even take babies and twist their heads off in front of the mother and then eat them? They filmed everything and the property around the house was a virtual grave site. Leonard was arrested and took a cyanide tablet and died. This happened in San Francisco in the early 80s. Portions of the tapes are on Youtube.
Serial Murders: Leonard Lake and Charles Ng

Are these the baby in the microwave people?

The hitchhiking thread made me think of them. IIRC, when Leonard Lake had been arrested and Charles Ng was still on the loose, there were news reports that Ng might be trying to hitchhike, possibly while wearing a military uniform. This was mid-eighties, and hitchhiking certainly was in decline, but it was not uncommon to see young soldiers on leave hitching near military bases. I remember discussing this with friends, and we agreed that the era of casual hitchhiking was officially over. Laurence Singleton made women quit hitching, and Charles Ng ruined it for the men.
Also, Leonard Lake vowed he'd never be captured alive, but he got caught like a bitch and then did a cyanide suicide in custody a few days later. What a coward. I'm not religious, but I hope the universe made an exception and created a special hell for these two subhumans.

Charles Ng always looks so dateable.. What a hunk.

I watched a documentary on this years ago and they actually showed a clip of one of the women they’d killed. She was tied up topless asking “why are you guys doing this? Where’s my baby?” And Ng said “Don’t worry about your baby. He’s sleeping....like a rock.” I had no idea a victim was going to be shown (they blacked out her face and breasts) or I never would’ve watched it. I think she was their next door neighbor. Ng & Lake invited her, her husband and their baby over for dinner.
The horror has never left me.

Yes, I remember these two. They were an odd couple, for sure. I always wonder how two people meet and discover that they both like something that is completely taboo and illegal. Not just Lake and Ng, but husband and wife teams who kidnap little girls, like Jaycee Dugard's kidnappers.
Nightmare material.

“They’d even take babies and twist their heads off in front of the mother and then eat them?”
They apparently didn’t work the Boulder circuit.

I’m sorry you ran across that footage unknowingly, R4. These two are of the most vile true crime stock out there. Bone chilling.

With so many documentaries gone on serial killers, how come there aren’t more on these two? They have to be the worst in modern American history. They actually had people changed to floors to beds, etc. They just randomly kidnapped people and filmed it. It’s so unbelievably disturbing and surreal.

I don't think they ate babies but they did kill them. They'd kill the men and kids to leave the women free to torture and rape for weeks. Is Ng in prison somewhere? Seems like he fled to Canada IIRC and was fighting extraditions or something.

Yes, Ng's sister lived in Canada, and he managed to get across the border and live in an urban park for several months. Then a security guard caught him stealing a can of salmon and he was arrested, and fought extradition for over 4 years.

Lake and Ng met through an ad in the back of Soldier of Fortune magazine.

Deborah Dubs might have been the woman in the video.

Another case of serial killers existing without police putting 2 + 2 together.
I looked at real estate listing for that town they lived in - Wilseyville. They should call it “Williesville” because the houses gave me the willies.
Here’s an example

Toy Box killer? I don't think I even want to know.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | November 23, 2019 11:39 PM |
Trust me you don't. David Parker Ray aka The Toy Box Killer would play a tape for his victims telling them exactly what they were in for. You can find a transcript online.

Has serial killing decreased? We just don’t hear about it anymore.

It's moved on to industrial scale murder

How that bitch “ Cricket“ got away without being charged I’ll never know. She’s currently married, hot a kid and living the good life. She participated in all of it.

It's interesting how some serial killers are known to everyone, but others are not. Randy Kraft may have killed over 60 young men , but virtually no one knows who he is. Yet Charles Manson, who never killed anyone is probably the most famous ever.

Ng hated gays and killed them.

Charles Ng is among "10 brutal killers on California death row who have been saved by execution moratorium." Gov. Gavin Newsome signed the executive order. Also among the ten: Scott Peterson, killer of wife Lacie Peterson.

Put Newsom in the same cell as Ng, or at least make him watch the videos.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | November 24, 2019 2:40 AM |
R22) Yes, there are still serial murders but increasingly the victims are society's forgotten people: prostitutes, addicts and the homeless.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | November 24, 2019 3:12 AM |
Well, there are now cellphones, cctv, GPS, EZ Pass, and cars that have 180 degree cameras. I think this makes it easier to find killers before they can rack up a huge number of victims. I think serial killers have to pretty much stick to prostitutes nowadays.

Leonard Lake’s wife & mother went to the house & removed a ton of evidence the day before police got there.
