Bleh, she's terrible all around. I disliked Merkel for a long time, but compared to "AKK", she's great.
R2, shut up, you idiot! Merkel has been certainly no saint with regard to Europe, but there are many other European leaders who have been just as bad (if not worse) for the European project. The trend towards right-wing populism and nationalism started before Merkel and it will further develop without her. With regard to financial policy, well, a lot of countries in central and northern Europe are on the same page there, so it's hardly Germany alone to blame.
