I'm seriously thinking of filing for bankruptcy but I'm not too sure. I'm in my late 20s, I had a decent job in retail making almost $80k. Earlier this year I had a major depressive episode and quit on a whim. I was miserable and they were asking me to do things like work off the clock and other things that I found morally and legally reprehensible. I got them to pay me for some of the unpaid overtime and I used this money to hold me over while I looked for a job that utilizes my degree. However, its been a lot more difficult to find a paying entry level job in the field since its been about four years since I last interned in a relevant position. I have around $60k in student debt which I know can't be discharged by bankruptcy and $10k in credit card debt. I have deferred payments for my student loans but now I've fallen behind on the rest of my bills. Is it worth it to risk defaulting on credit cards and hope to pay them back when they go into collections or should I bite the bullet and file for bankruptcy?
Bankruptcy?

Look up bankruptcy lawyers in your city. This isn't the place to get any more advice than just do it. The lawyer can tell you which part of your debt is dischargeable. Your first meeting with the lawyer is typically no charge.
