Does anyone else think about him ? Tonight I was wondering why he committed suicide. Wiki says mental illness and stress. The Netflix documentary I’m watching right now ( was it shown before his death !)which covers his physical health.
Avicii

He was staying in a beautiful hotel by the beach in Oman but still committed suicide. Probably a huge overdose.

he destroyed his health.

About 50 % of suicides are committed by persons under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Avicii was abusing alcohol and drugs which destroyed his health and probably led to impulsivity that caused him to act upon his negative thoughts.

no

I like his music, although after a while the pieces sound rather alike.

I took a pill in Ibiza, to show Avicii I was cool.

I don't get why he was able to fill stadiums. He didn't write music, he didn't play instruments or create music. He was a DJ. On stage he admits he dances and adjusts volume, but that's it.
I suspect he knew he was not really talented and the fear of exposure must have been crippling.

I don't know much of his output, but this demo version of "Rebel Heart" that he produced and was scrapped when it prematurely leaked could have been a decent hit for Madonna.

As far as I can tell from the documentary, his gift lay in using computers to generate the kind of music which enhances rave drug experiences.
I came away feeling he was a good guy. Watch out for depression coupled with drugs/alcohol. Like having a gun in your hand. Being an addict can make you feel hopeless. I think he needed a genuine rehab and change of career.

I thought they were a tribe.

He was murdered to cover up an international pedo scandal.

Kind of surreal -- I was indeed just thinking of him earlier today. They played "Hey Brother" at the ice rink, and I remarked that you could make songs that become a gift to the world, but even with knowing what you accomplished, it might not be enough to save you.

Talentless drunk. Next?

Seeing this thread right now is so odd. I randomly thought of him this morning at work. I wasn’t a huge fan of his while he was alive but I was really saddened by his death. He was incredibly talented, but more important than that he seemed like a genuinely good and kind man. The world lost a beautiful soul and it’s so incredibly sad that he ended things the way he did. I was expecting more information about his suicide to come out, but after the shock of the first week wore off there was nothing. I can’t imagine what would drive someone with so much to give the world and so many options open to him to take his own life. It still makes me so sad to think of how much he must have been hurting and how alone he must have felt.

Dr Pamela Stephenson, an actress herself - says fame is a kind of trauma. It is unnatural and stressful to the human body and people have to work with it or through it like they do a death. Very few survive. Even Tom Hanks is a drunk and a swinger.

I heard Hanks was a drunk but didn’t know he was a swinger. That is like telling me Jimmy Stewart was an sex addict.

There was a song out a few years ago by one of those electric djs. The video showed him as a strapping long haired blonde ( who I thought was Avicii)young man doing all sorts of outdoor activities like water skiing and had his father in it. Please Help me with the name of the song it was something like Live Like There Is no Tomorrow..

Why did it matter to him that some people were pressuring him to preform ? Why couldn’t he tell them to go fuck off ?

OP, you need a hobby. I suggest bowling.
Anyone who gets obsessed with someone who inflicted "Hey Brother" upon the world that is already suffering enough, must've taken a wrong turn somewhere in their life that got them to that place.

Music snobs are the worst.

Talented? Please. He was a dj. Couldn't sing. Couldn't play. Couldn't read music or compose. But yeah, he played a nice computer.

Madonna writes lyrics like a 10 year old doing poetry for English class. But she’s a one of kind broad so she gets a pass.
