I just bought three bottles of Pennsylvania Dutch Egg Nog
Jealous, bitches?
I passed a display at the grocery store, and I had to buy it.
Regular price is almost 20 dollars a bottle, but I got it on sale for $9.99!!
I might go back and grab some more. Do you think that people might like this as a christmas gift?

I can't believe that these assholes are trying to sell this Egg Nog online for $54.99.
FIFTY FOUR DOLLARS.
And I got it on sale for $9.99.
This is why I don't shop online. Most of these sites are ripoffs.

But was yours handcrafted by the Amish ?

Is their booze in this product? I would think fresh eggnog spiked with the liquor of your choice would be. Better.

Yes, R3.
The label says Rum, Brandy, and Blended Whiskey.
That's a lot of booze for egg nog!

I would definitely open one and try a glass before giving it as a gift. I am from PA and I have never heard of such a thing. And I have PA Deutch relatives. We just bought some pasteurized egg nog at the grocery store and then doctored it with a dark whiskey of choice and sprinkled nutmeg on top.

The alcohol content is 14.75% by volume, or 29.5 Proof.
Sounds like it could be fairly strong.

I'm from, and still live, in Pennsylvania Dutch country (Lancaster) and you couldn't pay me to drink that shit, but I hope you enjoy, OP. Like R5, I don't recall ever seeing such a thing in the state stores (commonwealth-owned liquor stores for those not familiar), but I'm far from a regular customer, so that's probably why.

Obese alcoholics are undesirable.

R5, it's chilling in the refrigerator, and I'm going to pour a glass or two, this weekend.
I'm really anxious to try it!

Yes, I just bought some eggnog yesterday, but I don't think it contains alcohol (I don't think Ohio would allow that). I feel bad enough for the calorie transgressions, but I've had a touchy stomach for the last week, and was hoping to find something nourishing,

Why doesn't Ohio allow alcohol in egg nog, R10?

OP, I don't think it's a good gift. Not everybody likes egg nog, no matter how good it may taste to you. IMO, egg nog is like drinking melted ice cream.

I live in Ohio and buy egg nog with alcohol.

I think it's a steal and an amazing gift! If they don't like it, they can just regift it - it looks fancy enough. Try it, OP, and if it tastes nice, go back for more!

I finally tried the egg nog, and it was delicious!
A bit sweet for me, but nice and boozy.
I might have another glass.

People will love it the same way people love getting fruitcake as a gift.

Fresh eggnog is so delicious that, unless you don't own a blender, I don't see the point in buying it.
I suppose you could buy a bottle of advocaat instead. Be sure to smear some on Grady's jacket after the clown mashes into you with a tray full of the stuff.

Anything close to 30 Proof will give you a buzz .... but Amish or not, I don't associate egg nog with them, can mor easily pour brandy & rum & whiskey into whatever's on hand in a wax container.

I buy the non-alcoholic version. I have it as a meal, when I have it at all.

Giuliana Rancic, is that you at R19?

Who has time to make your own egg nog, R17?
Store bought is so much easier.
I have to admit, though. This Pennsylvania Dutch egg nog is STRONG.
The alcohol is a bit overpowering, to the point where you taste the alcohol, more than the egg nog. The ratio is a bit off.

OP, I got PA dutch eggnog two years ago and it was fantastic. Everyone loved it at our Christmas party. I tried to find it last year but I waited to long and everyplace I went was sold out.
Get it now, bitches.

I went back to the grocery store and bought five more bottles, R22.
Now I have eight in total! Rofl.
I might actually give some away as a secret santa gift or take a bottle to Thanksgiving dinner.
It would go great with pumpkin pie!

The Amish brand has never been the same since Kelly Mcgillis showed her breasts to Harrison Ford. I like their root beer.

R24, Wait, what? Their eggnog could be tainted by Lesbian titties? That might be a selling point!

Question:
How long does this egg nog last, if kept in the refrigerator?
Is it like milk, with an expiration date, or will it last longer, because of the alcohol?
I drank some in December during the holidays, then refrigerated it, and it's been sitting there ever since.

Envious of an egg-nog purchase?

R7, I live in Lancaster County, PA, too. The Egg Nog spirit is sold in the PA Liquor stores, around Thanksgiving and Christmas.
