Do people hate Trump too much?

This is only quasi-political, but it seems like people are too worked up over Trump. Not just the media, not just celebrities, but IRL people too. I live in a big city so maybe it’s not like this everywhere but when you talk to people, especially women, about anything associated with Trump, they get bent out of shape like they know him personally.

Lifelong Democrat here btw, but I feel really weird as someone who didn’t vote for Trump but doesn’t have a strong opinion about him one way or another.

by Anonymousreply 68November 18, 2019 12:00 AM

IF you didn't vote for him, you should be furious at the things he's done to this country in three short years.

The fact that you're indifferent about him says more about you than others.

by Anonymousreply 1November 14, 2019 12:11 PM

OP=Donald Trump

by Anonymousreply 2November 14, 2019 12:11 PM

They don't hate him enough, unfortunately.

by Anonymousreply 3November 14, 2019 12:17 PM

Donald J. Trump is a con artist, grifter, thief, liar and all around dirtball scumbag. It's in his DNA, because he comes from a long line of dirtball scumbags. And he's passed it along to his dumb ass kids, who are all dirtball scumbags who have married other dirtball scumbags. His "university" was a sham, as was his "charity." His businesses have filed for bankruptcy not once, not twice, not three times. If we ever see his tax returns and get a detailed view of his finances, we will find the following:

1. He doesn't have as much money as he claims.

2. He's in debt up to his eyeballs.

3. That debt is owned in large part by Putin and his Russian oligarch buddies.

4. A good portion of Trump's income is from illegal sources, including money laundering and drug/human trafficking.

Should I go on, OP?

by Anonymousreply 4November 14, 2019 12:19 PM

OP if you're a lifelong democrat and you don't have a strong feeling about Trump one way or the other then there is something seriously wrong with you.

by Anonymousreply 5November 14, 2019 12:21 PM

He is a buffoon. He shouldnt be president. But way worse things happened during W’s presidency and people werent this outraged so to me that says at least some of the Trump rage is manufactured. Can you imagine if Katrina, Abu Graihb or the 2007 financial crisis happened now?

by Anonymousreply 6November 14, 2019 12:23 PM

R1 This is the usual hysterical response I hear on the off chance I tell someone I don’t hate Trump.

Even as a Democrat I get that at some point there are going to be Republicans in power, including the White House. I don’t think Trump has been any more radical on balance than any other Republican. Trump’s mouth and moral failings make him an outlier, but even those were on full display prior to him being elected.

by Anonymousreply 7November 14, 2019 12:24 PM

One wonders—but is not going to use ignoredar to find out—whether OP is a major contributor to the "underwhelmed" threads.

by Anonymousreply 8November 14, 2019 12:24 PM

I have never had such a visceral hatred of someone in my life. He is an ugly, vile, hateful conman and grifter. He is literally destroying this country singlehandedly. Every morning I pray he drops dead. The world will be a better place without him.

by Anonymousreply 9November 14, 2019 12:25 PM

Destroying this country. haha. This country was already destroyed.

by Anonymousreply 10November 14, 2019 12:28 PM

OP, your response is normal. The other responses here are not. and is part of the reason he won.

by Anonymousreply 11November 14, 2019 12:31 PM

I wonder if OP would have been indifferent about Hitler?

A lot of people were. And a lot of other people died.

by Anonymousreply 12November 14, 2019 12:34 PM

That said, we should be outraged by certain things that have happened during Trump’s presidency. Russian collusion and babies being ripped from their mothers’ arms at the border is some scary immoral shit

by Anonymousreply 13November 14, 2019 12:34 PM

You're up early, R11. Oh, wait. Moscow is how many hours ahead of US EST?

by Anonymousreply 14November 14, 2019 12:35 PM

R5 Maybe there is something wrong with me. I just don’t develop strong feelings for politicians. And I guess I’m a bit cynical because I always feel like all the bullshit goes away the minute the person stops being a political threat.

People hated Bush, but he’s been out of office over ten years now you have a lot of people who don’t think he’s that bad. Joy Behar said on the View last week that she never wanted to meet Bush because she was afraid she would like him. But if you watched the View while he was in office she was singing a different tune.

So maybe that’s why I’m not caught in the hysteria. It just feels like it’s just for the moment.

by Anonymousreply 15November 14, 2019 12:36 PM

I may be proven wrong one day, but I believe there is a good reason for everything. And I believe the ultimate reason for Trump being in the White House is to shock a large percentage of people in this country into realizing just how corrupt the GOP is overall. People who have voted Republican for years are beginning to wake up to the massive con the GOP has been running on the public. No, the Democrats are far from perfect, but they are infinitely more honest than the republicans. I'm hoping and praying that the elections next year will be an even bigger blue wave across the country.

by Anonymousreply 16November 14, 2019 12:40 PM

OP is the definition of white male privilege.

He doesn't care because he doesn't HAVE TO

by Anonymousreply 17November 14, 2019 12:41 PM

OP, do you enjoy the benefits and freedoms of living in a democratic republic? Do you value the constitution?

If so, then you should be furiously angry about the actions of Donald Trump.

Seems like you might be an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 18November 14, 2019 12:43 PM

Because the President is always blamed for whatever horrible direction the country goes in (rightfully so in Trump’s case) during those times, but never by the party they identify as. Republicans hated Obama with a passion back when he was in office and blamed him for all of America’s fuck-ups, including the Middle East and the housing crisis. Then, before that, Democrats hated Bush with a passion for things Clinton fucked up, and so on and so forth. Trump’s a piece of shit, but still, this is a pattern.

Also, as incel-ish it sounds of me to say, Hollywood hates Trump. Well, they don’t hate him as much as they like to profit off of hating him. That’s another contributing factor. Nowadays we’re fed entertainment 24/7, and having so many of the people responsible for that entertainment talking about how much they hate Trump all the time, it makes the people that watch the things they’re in hate Trump. Hell, the Mavel actors use that strategy amazingly well.

by Anonymousreply 19November 14, 2019 12:44 PM

There are about 4-5 dominoes that if they fall the wrong way, we become full on fascist: Ruth Bader Ginsburg's health, a Democratic Congress, no major terrorist attack since 911, a military establishment with some principles, Putin remaining covert and not overt. He has a mental disorder and his general incompetence is the only thing than has stopped things so far. You can't hate him too much.

by Anonymousreply 20November 14, 2019 12:45 PM

OP, PLEASE DIE IN A GREASE FIRE !!!!

by Anonymousreply 21November 14, 2019 12:47 PM

I think Americans hating Trump makes sense, but oddly enough the rest of the world kind of just wants us to shut the fuck up. I just visited a close friend and his boyfriend in Canada, and we got into a conversation about how saturated the media is with Trump stuff, and they both said that they’ve stopped watching television that’s broadcasted from America because they’re tired of the Trump shit. It got them to stop watching SNL and Kimmel. They hate him too, but more importantly, they’re tired of American politics trying to take over the rest of the world and poisoning all the entertainment that comes out of the US.

by Anonymousreply 22November 14, 2019 12:51 PM

R7, this is what really shocks me. You do not see any difference between Trump and other Republican presidents?

I just do not understand that.

Even Trump supporters recognize the difference.

What papers are you reading? What magazines? What news media?

by Anonymousreply 23November 14, 2019 12:55 PM

I agree with some of that r19 but nobody hates Trump for things Obama fucked up. He’s brought the hate entirely on himself. I hate Trump but I think I hate the GOP more. Traitorous scum that they are.

by Anonymousreply 24November 14, 2019 12:58 PM

This is just trolling, though. OP is probably the guy who always posts that story about how a Millennial woman he works with goes into a literal rage seizure every time Trump is mentioned.

by Anonymousreply 25November 14, 2019 12:59 PM

I, for one, can't hate him enough!

by Anonymousreply 26November 14, 2019 1:03 PM

From Canada. As r22 says, soooooo tired of hearing about this asshole. We wish you'd get rid of him and resume acting like a civilized country again. Nobody looks blameless from my perspective. Nobody. It's just Americans in their weird devolving bubble.

by Anonymousreply 27November 14, 2019 1:11 PM

So OP you think his actions as President haven’t been so different from others? You’re gay- you don’t know what he has done with executive orders to gays in health care and employment? You don’t know about gutting the EPA. You don’t know about the lowest levels or corporate tax in history (and a deficit out of control?). You don’t know about trade wars and the 30 billion paid to farmers? (All loans to banking and auto industries under Obama were paid back with interest). And much much more- No hate is not required. Outrage and disgust perhaps. Guess you are uninformed or dumb as a rock!

by Anonymousreply 28November 14, 2019 1:12 PM

R27 Exactly. And yet Americans will continue to blame the Russian boogeyman instead of facing the fact that their own idiot populous voted for him. Yet another case of America refusing to take responsibility for their own mistakes, or mistakes they had a part in.

by Anonymousreply 29November 14, 2019 1:14 PM

[quote]I think Americans hating Trump makes sense, but oddly enough the rest of the world kind of just wants us to shut the fuck up. Two people from Canada equals the rest of the world. You should get out more.

by Anonymousreply 30November 14, 2019 1:16 PM

ALL politicians are scum. ALL. Even your precious Obama. R29 Yup, that's America for ya!

by Anonymousreply 31November 14, 2019 1:18 PM

It sounds to me as if most of you hate him just the right amount.

by Anonymousreply 32November 14, 2019 1:21 PM

I hate him because he is a smug asshole. He absolutely doesn't know what he's doing and lashes out at everyone that questions anything he does. I also think he is perhaps the ugliest human being I have ever seen, yet he thinks he is KING SHIT STUD. It's nauseating. Don't even get me started on that orangutan frizz he calls HAIR. Jesus PETE.

by Anonymousreply 33November 14, 2019 1:24 PM

If you watch American television with political content like SNL or Kimmel, you're going to see the president mentioned.

What kind of idiot Canadian doesn't understand that concept? If you don't want to see American political content then stop watching American shows that have historically for decades contained political content!

by Anonymousreply 34November 14, 2019 1:28 PM

r34 reminds us non-Americans to be careful -- they tend to lash out when desperate.

by Anonymousreply 35November 14, 2019 1:31 PM

There really should be a law that requires presidential candidates to disclose their tax returns for a period of time. And they should call it the Trump Act for Presidential Candidate Financial Clarity.

by Anonymousreply 36November 14, 2019 1:36 PM

I believe in a lot from the Art of War... like the line always leave your enemy a route of escape. But I would love to see this horrible man humiliated in every way possible for as long as he lives. He is truly the most terrible person to occupy the office. He should be shunned. If he comes to a future inauguration, the other living presidents should decline. If he is re-elected, they should not attend. He should be excluded on the basis of his bad character at every turn. None of this respect for the office rationalization. He disrespects the office, he doesn't deserve any courtesies. He should be shunned.

by Anonymousreply 37November 14, 2019 1:42 PM

I wasn't that aware of Trump way back when, like New Yorkers were. The first time I heard of him was when he was building casino in Atlantic City. He bought up some houses to build a parking lot, except one stubborn 80 year old widowed lady wouldn't sell. It was her lifelong house where she raised her children and took care of her husband when he was ill. The house was her life. Trump took this little old lady to court and sued her. But, she won. Trump was furious and that asshole built all around her house, making her last years miserable with all that construction going on. I hated him ever since. He is truly a monster.

by Anonymousreply 38November 14, 2019 1:43 PM

OP, Trump has create and stoked divisiveness among Americans in a way that I haven’t seen at least since the Vietnam Draft. His “birtherism” should insult the intelligence and moral compass of every American. He rode that lie into the White House.

He has normalized routine dishonesty as a political tool; and elevated ignorance and coarseness in culture. He has set an awful example for young people who might grow up, seeing him as a role model, and not knowing the difference, like you, perhaps? Society has degenerated as a result of this one jackass.

He has collided with Russia. We’ve seen it in plain view. Wittingly, or unwittingly, he is a Russian asset and working against American foreign policy interests.

Trump is an entirely new phenomenon. Clearly the worst president ever. Bush was bad in his own ways, but no one reasonably questioned his sanity or patriotism, as we do with Trump.

The above are the reasons I dislike Trump, that are foremost in my mind today.

by Anonymousreply 39November 14, 2019 1:46 PM

In the famous case of a boiling frog that doesn't know when it is being cooked or at what point it is impossible to reverse the impact, the majority of Americans now recognize that Donald Trump, if not the party that is using him and vice versa, is an existential danger to the United States that citizens recognize as valid, true and worthy.

Whatever the hidden and often overt forces that have produced and sustained many U.S. acts of aggression, self-help over international concerns, land grabs, double-dealing and outright wickedness, people in the U.S. have held to an ideal for their country. We recognize the genocidal horror of slavery, the crimes committed in the name of national and special interests. But we have been, to ourselves, at heart and at root, a decent, honest, progressive, fair and zealously good nation, founded on a careful constitutional basis that protects against creatures such as today's Republicans and the non-party egomaniacal Trump.

We see now how the U.S. Constitution is only as strong as the willingness to abide by it and preserve its integrity. Treasonous (don't quibble), conspiratorial, violent, xenophobic, obstructionist and dishonest acts are being defended. A putsch from within, long in the making (go back to the Reagan years and beyond for its start), has taken the Executive Branch and now holds half the Legislative. The Judicial Branch is riddled with outliers poured into office against credibility and worth, including the Supreme Court. State houses and governorships are held as well across a majority of our territory, if not among the majority of our population.

Hate Trump too much?

He is out Hitler. And just as Hitler was not a German issue alone, neither is Trump and his cabal of greedy, power-mad, corruptive and unhinged demagogues.

If the present process in Congress, with a subsequent defeat of Trump (he won't be convicted in the Senate) and the GOP, we not only will have a continuation of the destruction of the international order. We will have what can only be called a civil war.

While Putin grins and China shrugs.

by Anonymousreply 40November 14, 2019 1:47 PM

r7, 0p, He is not like a republican. He is not a republican. He has completely re-branded their party.

Isolationist? Tarrifs? Anti-immigration? Since WHEN?

I could stomach a conservative president who was a republican who wanted fiscal responsibility and smaller government and wans conservative in social issues I don't but I would get over it till the next election. But he takes what is worse about every party and ramps it up several notches.

He is a nationalist who wants to preserve the White European majority on this country. He has sounded an alarm to others who fear white genocide. Wants to be a dictator. Is a con man who thinks he is above the law and profiting off of this country. Every move he makes is to make Donald great again. He doesn't give 2 shits about this country, it's all to better the Trump Organization and his friends. FUCK this fat fuck and his entire family. I hope is internal organs explode from his bad diet.

by Anonymousreply 41November 14, 2019 1:52 PM

I, for one, am thankful for OP's troll thread. It gives actual DLers the opportunity to list all kinds of stuff about Donald Trump's illegal and morally corrupt actions.

DL newbies get a fair picture of DL that way.

by Anonymousreply 42November 14, 2019 1:54 PM

Hey OP, if you knew someone and this was the only bad thing he tried to do, you would hate him. Now times it by the hundreds of things this shitbag has done.

"Donald Trump really did try to take an elderly widow's house for a limousine parking lot"

by Anonymousreply 43November 14, 2019 1:57 PM

just reading about his quirks and fetishes squicks me out, OP. after that you contemplate what an awful human being he's been to all around him, he condemning those guys to death in the nineties, that he's a complete and total sheister fake, yeah,

there is a lot to dislike, just saying, OP.

by Anonymousreply 44November 14, 2019 2:18 PM

I hate his Swamp Thang little slitty eyes and his teeny little sippy-cup lips. And he looks like he has really bad breath and stinks in general.

by Anonymousreply 45November 14, 2019 2:20 PM

[Quote]OP, your response is normal. The other responses here are not. and is part of the reason he won.

What does "part of the reason he won" mean?? Our future revulsion compelled Trump voters in 2016? I can't figure out what r11 is trying to say.

by Anonymousreply 46November 14, 2019 2:26 PM

There is no way to hate him enough. Anyone with the intellect of a gnat can see that he is destroying the country and our democratic institutions. OP is trolling.

by Anonymousreply 47November 14, 2019 2:29 PM

I think Cher in Witches of Eastwick summed it up the best:

I think... no, I am positive... that you are the most unattractive man I have ever met in my entire life. You know, in the short time we've been together, you have demonstrated every loathsome characteristic of the male personality and even discovered a few new ones. You are physically repulsive, intellectually retarded, you're morally reprehensible, vulgar, insensitive, selfish, stupid, you have no taste, a lousy sense of humor and you smell. You're not even interesting enough to make me sick.

Yes. They do.

It’s why I can’t watch news anymore. EVERYTHING is about Trump 24/7. Every idiot on the planet has something to tell about Trump but don’t even know their congressional representatives.

Most everything that governs our lives is more regulation via the unelected bureaucracy in the Federal Register. No one knows what that is but no doubt just KNOW!! that TRUMP!! is single-handedly ruining the country.

I want to retire abroad just to get away from it. Cholera can’t be too bad... can it?

by Anonymousreply 49November 14, 2019 2:47 PM

NICE TRY BORIS

by Anonymousreply 50November 14, 2019 2:47 PM

"Most everything that governs our lives is more regulation via the unelected bureaucracy in the Federal Register."

Give the tired ass libertarian bullshit a rest, R49. Just because the EPA refuses to allow you to put a toxic waste dump on vacant land you own across the street from an elementary school and a day care center doesn't mean some "dark state" is out to get you. You sound as paranoid and delusional as Trump about this massive bureaucracy/conspiracy infringing on your personal liberties.

by Anonymousreply 51November 14, 2019 2:53 PM

Having a sociopathic toddler representing and speaking for this country breeds hate.

by Anonymousreply 52November 14, 2019 2:58 PM

No they don't, OP.

I read R49 and my eyes rolled so violently that I'm blind now.

by Anonymousreply 53November 14, 2019 3:00 PM

"I want to retire abroad just to get away from it. Cholera can’t be too bad... can it?"

Don't let the door hit your fat ass on the way out, R49. Try going to China. There are rumors that the Black Plague has reemerged there. Can I book you a ticket on the next flight out?

by Anonymousreply 54November 14, 2019 3:04 PM

Got a Tin Man to go with your Straw Man, R51? I’m looking for a complete set.

by Anonymousreply 55November 14, 2019 3:04 PM

Could Hitler be hated too much? Can any truly evil, not just bad, but evil person be hated too much? I don't think so.

If it makes you feel any better I hate McConnell, Paul Ryan and 99% of Republicans in office just as much and hate the crazed, racist supporters very, very close to almost as much. I ended a 40 year friendship over this person's unyielding support for mobster/monster Trump.

by Anonymousreply 56November 14, 2019 3:14 PM

Name one single fucking area where you feel the "dark state" is impinging on your personal freedoms, R49/R55. Go ahead, we'll be waiting while you plumb the depths of your paranoia for a response.

by Anonymousreply 57November 14, 2019 3:17 PM

What’s really funny is that the idiots who won’t shut up about him are just doing exactly what Trump wants them to. The American people have become his puppets and have been giving him the attention he craves since day one. Congrats, you’ve all played yourselves.

by Anonymousreply 58November 14, 2019 3:20 PM

I didn’t say a “dark state” was “impinging” my freedoms, you dumb cunt R57.

I said most rules and regulation that govern us comes via the Federal Register. And those rules come from the unelected bureaucracy.

Not that it’s right, not that it’s wrong, just that it IS. That most people are unaware of it. And that is TRUE. Any hungover TA in some poli sci 101 course would tell you as much.

Now go back to setting your hair on fire and screeching about Donald Trump.

by Anonymousreply 59November 14, 2019 3:27 PM

If nothing else, the last few years have left me certain in a way I wasn't before that the US is done. Just look at this thread. Scary to wonder who will step into the vacuum, the alternatives are all worse.

by Anonymousreply 60November 14, 2019 3:36 PM

Shouldn't you be sucking DJT's puny cocklet right about now, R59? That is before you have lunch eating out Trump's shit encrusted asshole.

Trump exemplifies all Seven Deadly Sins. All seven is quite an accomplishment, because most people excel at only one or two at a time. Greed, lust, pride, sloth, gluttony, anger, and envy. And he has so many other character flaws, it’s really quite amazing. It’s too bad that I am personally affected by him.

The Seven Deadly Sins come from Don Quixote and is not religious doctrine. It simply serves as a good indicator of a person’s character.

by Anonymousreply 63November 14, 2019 6:43 PM

R59, we live in a modern representative democracy. That means the public does not directly make the laws. We vote for representatives to do so, but of course they can’t do everything themselves, so we hire others to implement the laws that our representatives make.

The “hungover TA in some poli sci 101 course” that you reference knows this, as do we all here. The US could not function as a country without these people. Incidentally, these people are “us”, not some foreign entity forced upon us. I can’t understand why anyone would have a real problem with this, other than the normal griping that taxes are too high, the line at the motor vehicle office is too long, and so forth, that people sometimes do.

by Anonymousreply 64November 14, 2019 6:58 PM

Right, r58.

We should just let a crooked megalomaniac do whatever he wants.

by Anonymousreply 65November 14, 2019 7:36 PM

R58, you are partially wrong. Trump should be pilloried right and left for his policies. His terrible personality and fetishes should be ignored. That includes his hate tweeting.

by Anonymousreply 66November 15, 2019 12:32 AM

R66, according to the White House Trump's tweets are official statements by the president. They should not be ignored.

by Anonymousreply 67November 17, 2019 12:28 AM

OP you could NEVER hate Trump too much.
