Any Scousers or people who've experienced the Liverpool gay scene on here?Share your stories please!

Liverpool one of the UK's most famous and unique cities full of many unique characters .The city itself certainly has it's own unique character. Friendly, tenacious, cheeky, naughty, shady, humorous place with a special status or position in the uks psyche.

Comparing my own experiences with those of others I'd say in it's own way the Liverpool gay scene in its own way is just as naughty and mad as London.Big enough to be classed as a major city, small enough for everyone to know everybody else and their business!

Please spill the gossip and share stories on this thread please!

Here's one of my snippets. Gordon the late owner of Pacos bar never let very bad arthritis prevehim from enjoying sexual favours backroom with the fresh new faces on the scene. His brother was disgusted but Gordon died unexpectedly and his homophobic brother inherited the bar putting its future viability in doubt in 1998.

PS info or gossip from any era .

by Anonymousreply 4November 13, 2019 10:07 PM

R4 I've been there.

by Anonymousreply 5November 13, 2019 10:09 PM

Lived or visited r5? Did you experience the gay scene?Any tales to tell?

by Anonymousreply 6November 13, 2019 10:19 PM

I've been to Liverpool twice and thought it was fine. I hired a driver to take me around to some of the Beatle sites (childhood homes, Penny Lane, etc.) and saw several neighborhoods and they seemed in fine shape. Anyway, that is beside the point.

I met up with a true Scouser and we almost didn't hook up because I couldn't understand him very well. We had a good laugh about that. The gay scene I thought was fairly typical, a nice selection of bars and men. My Scouser friend was fun to be with. Both times!

I'm glad a scouse man clearly kept you happy in bed and charmed you r7!!!๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜˜ The accent can be a culture shock!

Did you visit the legendary Lisbon pub? May I please ask what era or roughly what year you visited?

The majority of the time it's been my experience that liverpool/scouse men are great in bed! They take performing sexually seriously without taking themselves too serious. It's their relaxed scouse humour that underpins the combination of not taking themselves too seriously but delivering on the fun and pleasure of sex!

by Anonymousreply 9November 13, 2019 10:33 PM

R8 I already got the ball rolling with talking about the owner of Pacos.Plenty of other tales to tell but waiting for others to contribute too!

by Anonymousreply 10November 13, 2019 10:36 PM

Scousers are asthmatic fatsos who eat too much fish and chips (fried in beef dripping) and smoke too much.

I went to Liverpule once, to the Adelphi Hotel before it crashed. It was quite good, inside. Once you were outside the hotel front door, it was like the Soviet Union only worse.

by Anonymousreply 21November 13, 2019 11:46 PM

What on earth is like the Soviet Union in Liverpool r21?? Are you referring to the historic architecture across the city?

by Anonymousreply 22November 13, 2019 11:54 PM

R20 Kind of sexy in a quirky way!

Anybody any tales or gossip?

by Anonymousreply 23November 13, 2019 11:57 PM

The trouble is that the UK is very London-centric. It is hard for a city which is not London, to compete with London. Even the so-called 'trendy' bits of, say, Manchester, look like the slums of London. Edinburgh holds its own. Cardiff is a shithole. The London Derriere, I can't comment on as I have not been there but I understand that Northern Ireland is a beautiful country.

by Anonymousreply 24November 14, 2019 12:03 AM

UK politics certainly needs to change to counteract the countrys London centricness. The political pressure from the regions is building on those point r24.

by Anonymousreply 25November 14, 2019 12:14 AM

R25 I meant on this point!

by Anonymousreply 26November 14, 2019 12:14 AM

by Anonymousreply 42November 14, 2019 1:55 AM

Is there any Scouse gay porn out there? It'd be interesting to hear a verbal top or bottom with that accent.

by Anonymousreply 43November 14, 2019 2:14 AM

r43 Yes, I've noticed quite a few of them in videos by Triga Studios over the years, though I can't give you the exact titles. You can also spot the accent in CMNM videos as they go through a lot of guys. And of course there's HungYoungBrit, who features all sorts.

It's a hot accent on a top, definitely.

by Anonymousreply 44November 14, 2019 2:29 AM

OK, perfect thread to ask this. On Hollyoaks there is a character Diane who is overly sentimental and has this habit of always referring to loved ones as โ€œOur Lilyโ€ or โ€œOur Harry,โ€ especially if they are dead as Lily and Harry are now. I find this so annoying and stupid and when I asked about it on YouTube people said it was because sheโ€™s a Scouser, which until this week I never heard of before. Is this how they really talk? Where does this come from?

by Anonymousreply 45November 14, 2019 2:33 AM

r45 Seems a pretty generic thing. It's common in my language as well among... let's say older rural people. That really bothers you?

by Anonymousreply 46November 14, 2019 2:45 AM

R46 Yes, I find it maudlin, infantilizing and weirdly controlling in a ownership way in not allowing a person to grow up to become an independent entity. It would be one thing coming out of the mouth of an 80 year old rural granny, but not an educated adult person. If itโ€™s meant as a term of endearment itโ€™s just downright creepy.

by Anonymousreply 47November 14, 2019 3:25 AM

I was in Liverpool only once in my life and just for one full day. With all the Beatle sightseeing and listening to their music performed live at the Cavern, I must have missed the gay part. Actually, I never even thought about it, until now. No regretts though ...

by Anonymousreply 48November 14, 2019 4:38 AM

Why is it infantilising r47 ? Its actually just about emotional warmth and affection not control. Its a term of endearment.

by Anonymousreply 49November 14, 2019 7:06 AM

R45 - on the Scouse soap Brookside, almost every single character referred to members of their family as "Our ____" every time they spoke. I always just assumed that was commonplace in Liverpool.

by Anonymousreply 50November 14, 2019 12:41 PM

It is commonplace r46

by Anonymousreply 51November 14, 2019 2:52 PM

The characters on "Keeping Up Appearances" always used "our" "your" when referring to family members. I think that was the first time I'd heard it (or noticed it) and thought must be a regionalism (although I have no idea what part of England in which the show is set.)

by Anonymousreply 52November 14, 2019 4:52 PM

R52 Tgat is set in the Midlands but at least three of the actors in that show were from liverpool/Merseyside so perhaps that subtly had an effect explaining why that happened?Hyacinth actress Patricia Routledge was from Birkenhead were they do indeed speak like that .

by Anonymousreply 63November 21, 2019 4:11 AM

Now r53 that is a good question and could elicit some interesting answers as I believe he did visit or frequent the liverpool gay scene sometimes during the 1980s.

A British actor Dean Sullivan who starred in Liverpool soap Brookside used to go clubbing at Garland's nightclub and was known for taking groups of 3 upwards of young men back to his home on the wirral for fun!

Scouse lads are so sexy with their friendly 'roughness or unvarnished charm '.

by Anonymousreply 67November 25, 2019 8:32 PM

One of Liverpool's oldest gay venues the Masquerade has apparently closed. It had been doing poor trade for months.

by Anonymousreply 68December 21, 2019 9:50 AM

I remember back in the 1990s the owners and sometimes managers of the main gay pubs and clubs in Liverpool having sex or receiving sexual favours on the premises from whatever new young customers they successfully chatted up.Often several per week and different ones week by week.It was quite debauched!!๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜ Jimmy the owner of the curzon club was notorious for this as were some of his security staff using the staff office or storage rooms for sex with hot young customers or taking them home at closing time. Some young fellas even briefly got jobs as barmen after shagging the staff!! The Lisbon, Masquerade, Pacos and Escape all had similar things going on! Any fellow Liverpool scene folk remember this ? Oh I'm sure it didn't just happen in Liverpool though.....!

by Anonymousreply 69January 11, 2020 6:42 PM

Anyone from the Liverpool gay scene remember bisexual Terry B?Always chasing other people's boyfriends and got obsessed with a few gays he couldn't have like John D from Wavertree?Unnerving to be on the receiving end of his persistence. Creepily obsessed until he got his shag and if he never got his shag he stayed obsessed for a very long time!!

Dated bisexual blonde Alan and cheated on him and treated him badly very early on.Nothing unusual in Terry behaving like that except for the big complication that Alan was from one of the most notorious, violent and biggest gangster crime families in Liverpool (if you know you know) and Terry hurting him like that was a big foolish mistake. Lots of trouble flowed from this. Drama.

Terry still visits Liverpool gay scene when he is visiting from Lincolnshire but he can be quite sheepish and shy after the enemies hes made and the feathers he has ruffled over the years in Liverpool.

Are the Beatles from Liverpool? It's not as if Liverpool ever mentions it. 95% of their tourism is down to the Beatles. All the bookshops have Beatles books in the windows, the cafe chains all have Beatles (or solo) music playing in them.

I do like Liverpool though, it has a nice vibe about it. Almost every street corner has a working class lad on it, in trackie bottoms, playing with his bollocks, at least it seemed that way to me. And I have no objection to that. I've had a thing for scousers ever since I saw Tony Forsyth in the gay movie The Fruit Machine.
