Impeachment Hearing Day!

OMG George Conway is doing MSNBC commentary for it

by Anonymousreply 605November 15, 2019 7:13 PM

And Trump is already rage tweeting.

by Anonymousreply 1November 13, 2019 1:26 PM

He is setting them up for after Trump, but how can Kellyanne come back after all her shenanigans?

by Anonymousreply 2November 13, 2019 1:29 PM

George is appalled.

by Anonymousreply 5November 13, 2019 1:33 PM

Is this the official thread?

by Anonymousreply 6November 13, 2019 1:36 PM

The only way Kellyanne can redeem herself is if she’s acting as a double agent and has a hand in taking Trump down.

by Anonymousreply 7November 13, 2019 1:37 PM

I don't buy that Miss Lindsey will not watch any of the impeachment hearings

by Anonymousreply 8November 13, 2019 1:39 PM

I know Rick Wilson is a Repug but he does make me laugh

by Anonymousreply 21November 13, 2019 2:14 PM

[quote]how can Kellyanne come back after all her shenanigans?

She's a different person depending on whether she's off the record or on.

by Anonymousreply 22November 13, 2019 2:15 PM

"While the Founders did not intend that impeachment be employed for mere differences over policy, they also made impeachment a constitutional process that the Congress must utilize when necessary," Rep. Adam Schiff said in his opening statement.

Good start so far.

by Anonymousreply 23November 13, 2019 2:17 PM

Bring in the clowns, here comes Devin Nunes

by Anonymousreply 24November 13, 2019 2:21 PM

Nude pictures of Trump? Nobody wanted that!

by Anonymousreply 25November 13, 2019 2:22 PM

Nunes you fucker, you should be in JAIL!!!!

by Anonymousreply 26November 13, 2019 2:23 PM

Nunes: “a carefully orchestrated smear campaign for the media”

by Anonymousreply 27November 13, 2019 2:23 PM

I find it surprising that people in California voted for this creep.

by Anonymousreply 28November 13, 2019 2:25 PM

Oohhh, Nunes is sooo slimy. How long does he get to blather?

by Anonymousreply 29November 13, 2019 2:28 PM

Oh, so the Repubs are going to interrupt and obstruct. Anything to disrupt the proceeding.

by Anonymousreply 30November 13, 2019 2:35 PM

The Repugs are trying to out the Whistleblower, Rick Wilson said that was going to be their strategy to disrupt the hearing

by Anonymousreply 31November 13, 2019 2:36 PM

[quote]The Repugs are trying to out the Whistleblower

I think what they are trying to do is jam the first hour so that the television audience loses interest.

by Anonymousreply 32November 13, 2019 2:37 PM

I thought interruptions weren't allowed. They should receive some sort of penalty even if it's only a fine. Jordan would probably go bankrupt.

by Anonymousreply 33November 13, 2019 2:38 PM

Looks like there is another discussion over here.

by Anonymousreply 34November 13, 2019 2:38 PM

Fuck the treason threads. R34, you disrupt another thread again and I'm going to spam the treason threads and make them useless.

by Anonymousreply 35November 13, 2019 2:41 PM

That sounds sane, R35.

by Anonymousreply 36November 13, 2019 2:42 PM

R35 has stated her boundaries.

by Anonymousreply 37November 13, 2019 2:43 PM

I'll continue to post on this thread since the title is specific to the subject.

by Anonymousreply 38November 13, 2019 2:44 PM

Lock him up! Lock him up!

by Anonymousreply 39November 13, 2019 2:45 PM

I have stated my boundaries. This poster comes onto any thread that remotely competes with the treason threads and whines that we should all be over there. I'm over this poster.

by Anonymousreply 40November 13, 2019 2:45 PM

Bow ties tickle my funny bone, I can't help it.

by Anonymousreply 42November 13, 2019 2:47 PM

by Anonymousreply 43November 13, 2019 2:48 PM

Funny since it was the other thread that directed me to this one.

But you go on with your badass arm chair self. Love it!!!

by Anonymousreply 44November 13, 2019 2:49 PM

I'm at my local diner. The place is packed. Two TV's showing the proceedings. No one is watching. I mean no one.

Everyone will go home tonight and hear Fox's spin.

by Anonymousreply 45November 13, 2019 2:50 PM

R43 is a troll.

by Anonymousreply 46November 13, 2019 2:51 PM

by Anonymousreply 49November 13, 2019 2:52 PM

by Anonymousreply 50November 13, 2019 2:52 PM

Gym Jordan is still not wearing a suit coat

by Anonymousreply 59November 13, 2019 2:56 PM

Kent is kinda dilfy

I can't wait for the questioning. Kent and Taylor are NOT with this repub shit

by Anonymousreply 60November 13, 2019 2:57 PM

BILL TAYLOR's opening statement describing Russian aggression and atrocities perpetrated on Ukraine should send the Repugs skulking away in shame.

by Anonymousreply 61November 13, 2019 3:00 PM

by Anonymousreply 62November 13, 2019 3:00 PM

by Anonymousreply 67November 13, 2019 3:02 PM

by Anonymousreply 68November 13, 2019 3:03 PM

R68 maybe Cspan? If not I'm sure online somewhere like youtube. I'm sure a lot of news outlets will have it online too in full

by Anonymousreply 69November 13, 2019 3:05 PM

by Anonymousreply 71November 13, 2019 3:05 PM

by Anonymousreply 72November 13, 2019 3:07 PM

I do like how Taylor is bringing up the Donbass region of Ukraine (the eastern border with Russia). Most people in the press and politicians only talk about Crimea.

Clearly Russia has designs on annexing Donbass too

by Anonymousreply 88November 13, 2019 3:16 PM

Is there a better thread than this one on the topic? This one if filled up with a psycho threatening others. It takes the fun out of it.

by Anonymousreply 89November 13, 2019 3:17 PM

R89 Block them.

by Anonymousreply 90November 13, 2019 3:19 PM

Taylor has all his facts in order. Something tells me that, even months ago, he knew this day was gonna come.

by Anonymousreply 91November 13, 2019 3:19 PM

r89 = r34

by Anonymousreply 92November 13, 2019 3:20 PM

R35 such a tough guy. You’re gonna single handedly make the treason threads useless if we don’t bow to your awesome power?

It’s been trying to drag down the treason threads for how long now? And they’re still going strong despite its efforts.

by Anonymousreply 93November 13, 2019 3:20 PM

I had a friend who visited Ukraine in the past few years.

They LOVE Americans, they want to be the America of Eastern Europe. We really are the only thing keeping them from Putin's violence and aggression.

They could be a great and crucial ally and Trump really molested that nation with his extortionary corruption.

I think Taylor knows what a great strategic partner they could be, and how shitty this all went down.

by Anonymousreply 94November 13, 2019 3:20 PM

R35 is a laughing stock joke.

by Anonymousreply 95November 13, 2019 3:21 PM

It's obvious that the treason thread poster is posting comments on here to try to get people to go to their thread.

by Anonymousreply 96November 13, 2019 3:22 PM

Taylor is who Mueller should've been in his hearing.

by Anonymousreply 97November 13, 2019 3:23 PM

R94 plenty of eastern European countries are that same way. Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania all want to get the fuck away from Russia and embrace the US/western Europe

the damage Trump admin has done and continues to do is infuriating

by Anonymousreply 98November 13, 2019 3:23 PM

You are right r97. Mueller came on with a wimpy voice and was disappointing.

by Anonymousreply 99November 13, 2019 3:23 PM

This thread is off to a despicable start thanks to r35. Way to ruin it.

Join me in the new thread on today’s impeachment hearings. This thread is a waste.

by Anonymousreply 100November 13, 2019 3:23 PM

It's obvious that someone is changing their browsers and posting back and forth.

Ignore the posts you don't like and move on.

by Anonymousreply 101November 13, 2019 3:24 PM

If you close your eyes I swear Taylor’s voice sounds just like Mitt Romney.

by Anonymousreply 102November 13, 2019 3:24 PM

by Anonymousreply 107November 13, 2019 3:28 PM

everyone else involved except Sondland seemed clearly against what Trump and Giuliani were doing

by Anonymousreply 131November 13, 2019 3:38 PM

wow just looked it up. Taylor looks great for a 72 year old white man

compare how he looks with Trump...

by Anonymousreply 132November 13, 2019 3:39 PM

Ryan Goodman @rgoodlaw: Taylor drops a bombshell. New evidence directly fingers President Trump. July 26 phone call where Trump checks in with Sondland on status of Ukraine’s Biden investigation. Side note: Sondland omitted this. Intentional omission of material facts is perjury. #ImpeachmentHearings

Steven Portnoy @stevenportnoy: In a new revelation -- which he says he was not aware of during his closed-door testimony -- Bill Taylor says a member of his staff was present when Sondland called Trump on July 26th. Taylor says his staffer overheard POTUS asking Sondland about "the investigations."

JackiSchechner @JackiSchechner: And there it is. Loud and clear. Taylor just implicated Sondland and Trump of attempted extortion in one sentence. #ImpeachmentHearings

Kyle Griffin @kylegriffin1: William Taylor details NEW info from a July 26 event: One of Taylor's staffers heard Gordon Sondland on the phone with Trump, "asking Ambassador Sondland about 'the investigations.' Ambassador Sondland told President Trump that the Ukrainians were ready to move forward."

by Anonymousreply 133November 13, 2019 3:40 PM

Rep. Eric Swalwell tweeted:

“More Ukrainians would undoubtedly die without security assistance,” said Ambassador Taylor.

He’s saying @realDonaldTrump put his own campaign’s needs over countless lives. People died because Trump wanted to cheat his way to re-election.

by Anonymousreply 134November 13, 2019 3:40 PM

Aaron Rupar tweeted:

NEW: Taylor discloses that his staff overheard phone call in which Trump asked Sondland about investigations into the Bidens in July Taylor's staff member says Sondland told them that "Trump cares more about the investigations into the Bidens" than anything else re: Ukraine

by Anonymousreply 135November 13, 2019 3:43 PM

And now the Republicans are going to demand to know the identity of the staff and insist on "questioning" them.

by Anonymousreply 136November 13, 2019 3:43 PM

Dan Goldman is a hot former prosecutor.

by Anonymousreply 137November 13, 2019 3:43 PM

by Anonymousreply 138November 13, 2019 3:43 PM

ok Daniel Goldman work your magic please

by Anonymousreply 139November 13, 2019 3:44 PM

Jonathan Allen @jonallendc: Bill Taylor is basically saying Ukraine looked to the west for help in securing democracy and the message that came back was an extortion note.

Max Boot @MaxBoot: Bill Taylor is utterly credible and he just directly tied Trump to the attempt to use military aid to blackmail Ukraine into announcing a sham investigation of Joe Biden. If this isn’t an impeachable offense, nothing is.

by Anonymousreply 164November 13, 2019 4:06 PM

I already know the repubs are going to say

"but you're assuming a lot of things without direct evidence, Mr Taylor. how can you know for certain?"

but Taylor's testimony is quite damning

by Anonymousreply 165November 13, 2019 4:06 PM

Fred Guttenberg @fred_guttenberg: Yo, @LindseyGrahamSC , still not watching? If not, you should be. What is being described is not a Democratic plot, what is getting described are high crimes and misdemeanors. YOU SHOULD GO BACK TO ACTING LIKE A PATRIOTIC AMERICAN AND CARE.

(My daughter is Jaime Guttenberg. She was murdered in Parkland Florida on February 14, 2018. I will dedicate the rest of my life to the cause of gun safety.)

by Anonymousreply 166November 13, 2019 4:07 PM

Goldman's scripted questions are tailored to Taylor's previous bombshell testimony, and he’s following that line of questioning. He may have another line of questions for Kent that will follow logically on this.

Can we not talk about Lindsey Graham? Every fucking thread has him in it - why not just pick one to stick the "Miz Lindsey" nomiker in?

And no, I'm not pissed about it - just confused about it because it seems like the same person says the same thing in each impeachment thread.

by Anonymousreply 171November 13, 2019 4:13 PM

Which Repub keeps letting his phone LOUDLY ring on vibrate? The first time seemed strategically timed to try to throw Taylor off during a likely to otherwise be replayed as a soundbyte section of his statement.

by Anonymousreply 172November 13, 2019 4:13 PM

"I'm going to read from the transcript as we've been encouraged to do," snarked Mr. Goldman. Yes!

Shit started getting real at high noon, eastern time.

George Kent looks like a 1950s Washington bureaucrat, but in a good way. He would have been interviewed by Alfred Kinsey, and revealed some pretty surprising details of his sexual practices.

by Anonymousreply 174November 13, 2019 4:17 PM

Why you Horny-assed bitches always trying to fuck everybody in these threads?

by Anonymousreply 175November 13, 2019 4:21 PM

How in the world can that number of people go take a piss in five minutes?

by Anonymousreply 176November 13, 2019 4:21 PM

Matt Lewis @mattklewis: Republicans: Do you want your kids to grow up to be like Ambassador Taylor or Donald Trump? Which man is more trustworthy, honorable, or heroic?

Stand Up America @StandUpAmerica: Amb. Taylor just confirmed it. We know Trump used military aid to bribe Ukraine to interfere in 2020. We know anyone else who did that would be in jail. What we don’t know is if there’s a single Republican in Congress who will uphold their oath to defend our Constitution.

Ben Rhodes @brhodes: Sondland clearly lied in his first go around. Taylor’s testimony shows us why Sondland changed his story and why the Republican “no quid pro quo” defense is a lie.

John Bresnahan @BresPolitico: The level of detail in Taylor's public statement - similar to what he'd previously given in his closed-door deposition - is a huge problem for the WH/GOP argument against impeachment.

Joy Reid @JoyAnnReid: The seriousness and sobriety of Mr. Kent and Ambassador Taylor is quite a contrast from the reprised dossier conspiracy theories, time-wasting and ranting at the outset from Devin Nunes, Jim Jordan and the other Republicans. #ImpeachmentHearings

Ryan Goodman @rgoodlaw: This should put nail in GOP Staff talking point that aid was eventually released. Schiff's Q&A with Taylor shows huge human costs to aid suspension. The suspension sent strong signal to Russia that "would weaken Ukraine in negotiating an end to the war.” #ImpeachmentHearings

by Anonymousreply 178November 13, 2019 4:24 PM

Sondland LMFAO what a moron!!

did he really think he could get away with not mentioning that July 26th phone call with Trump?

he should be charged with perjury but I think if he completely flips during his public testimony next week he'll be forgiven

Taylor and Kent are great witnesses

by Anonymousreply 179November 13, 2019 4:24 PM

I can’t wait Trump’s twitter rage. He will be on all night. I hope they’ll get him out of the WH really soon.

by Anonymousreply 180November 13, 2019 4:25 PM

guaranteed the repubs are going to say Taylor and Kent don't have direct knowledge and are making assumptions

but I think it's a weak argument

by Anonymousreply 181November 13, 2019 4:25 PM

Nancy Pelosi @SpeakerPelosi: Patriotism means putting country ahead of politics and personal ambition, and speaking out when you see something wrong. The witnesses coming forward to testify today have shown that patriotism again and again.

by Anonymousreply 214November 13, 2019 4:49 PM

What did Schiff do to Nunes? Didn't have it on.

by Anonymousreply 228November 13, 2019 4:58 PM

by Anonymousreply 245November 13, 2019 5:17 PM

by Anonymousreply 249November 13, 2019 5:19 PM

That's still using his office for personal gain, R244. Burisma wasn't violating US law, or Ukrainian law, as I understand it, so why the concern? This is nonsense.

by Anonymousreply 250November 13, 2019 5:19 PM

It’s hilarious that Trump thinks anyone will buy that he of all people is concerned about corruption

by Anonymousreply 251November 13, 2019 5:21 PM

Agreed, r250. Optically, it wasn't good to be on the board, but legally he did nothing wrong in either country. Right now the repugs are focusing on the optics and hoping it conflates with illegality in the minds of the public.

by Anonymousreply 252November 13, 2019 5:22 PM

And only in Ukraine, R251. Nowhere else, just Ukraine.

by Anonymousreply 253November 13, 2019 5:23 PM

R250 it's fake concern but also remember the repub lawyer and repubs are leaving out how the Department of Defense had notified Congress that Ukraine had met its requirements to receive more aid and then Congress voted to give the aid on a bipartisan basis. Most people watching don't know this though so Castor might seem like a valid point to them

by Anonymousreply 254November 13, 2019 5:23 PM

OMG, I didn’t realize this guy was the Repub lawyer. I thought they had refused to have a lawyer do the 45mins of questions and were just having their idiot reps go straight into their 5mins of questions. This guy, Castor, can’t have ever even been in a courtroom before, right? His public speaking manner is atrocious.

by Anonymousreply 265November 13, 2019 5:33 PM

China awarded trademarks to Ivanka Trump while Trump and Xi were negotiating about Huawei. She would never have received the trademarks if her name wasn't Trump. She didn't decline them, which means she can profit from these trademarks when daddy is out of office. Why people aren't screaming more about this is puzzling. Every Democrat should respond with ivanka's trademarks every time Hunter Biden comes up.

by Anonymousreply 266November 13, 2019 5:33 PM

I think Taylor did fine in the questioning but he was confused some of the bs questions Castor was asking. A lot of them weren't super relevant.

by Anonymousreply 267November 13, 2019 5:33 PM

Schiff is fucking smart as hell. I’m glad he’s on our side.

Taylor had trouble parsing the pinhead’s questions because the questions were all leading, speculative, crammed with lies and largely incoherent.

by Anonymousreply 268November 13, 2019 5:33 PM

Bill Taylor did exceptionally well.

The GOP Council was surprisingly weak.

by Anonymousreply 269November 13, 2019 5:34 PM

R264 Taylor's responses to off-the-wall Republican assertions leave looking confused or bemused. Republicans will take that as a sign of his lack of credibility. Any other person will note that the questions themselves are inflammatory, obfuscating etc.

by Anonymousreply 270November 13, 2019 5:35 PM

R265, no I meant Taylor. He stammered a lot and a few times there were some uncomfortable pregnant pauses. He is far more eloquent with Schiff. Kent did a far better job with the Q&A.

by Anonymousreply 275November 13, 2019 5:38 PM

by Anonymousreply 276November 13, 2019 5:38 PM

R271, because Taylor's questions were vague and unfocused.

by Anonymousreply 277November 13, 2019 5:38 PM

How long before Gym dramatically removes his glasses.

by Anonymousreply 278November 13, 2019 5:38 PM

Taylor, given his tenure and stature, has little familiarity with being jerked around and treated like a chump. Kent, being younger and spending more time on the ground directly dealing with criminals, knows how to handle scumbags trying to twist things around play 3 Card Monte.

Did Gym slam a rail of speed before showing up today?

by Anonymousreply 279November 13, 2019 5:39 PM

Gym Jordan sounds like Rosie O'Donnell with a cold.

by Anonymousreply 283November 13, 2019 5:42 PM

Back in the Nixon era, you had the network News. Only 3. And they were responsible.

Let's face it: Americans are at work while this is being shown. This evening everyone will go to their favorite news outlets...from Fox to CNN, not to mention their Facebook feeds. Everyone will see a different spin.

by Anonymousreply 299November 13, 2019 5:52 PM

There's an obvious agenda being exposed here. Because the corrupt guys Biden was trying to get rid of, were doing the exact same thing in the Ukraine, getting rid of good people, etc. in their Justice and Intel operations, that Barr & company are attempting to do right here now. It is clearly the Putin method when he dismantles a state and inserts his own people, etc. This is both fascinating and terrifying.

by Anonymousreply 300November 13, 2019 5:53 PM

Trump has put it into the minds of Americans that there must be a quid pro quo for anything to be wrong.

Yes, we now know that there was a quid pro quo BUT the actual abuse of power was the very act of asking a foreign government to investigate a political rival

by Anonymousreply 301November 13, 2019 5:53 PM

Who cares whether or not Ukraine knew about the stopping of aid at the point of the call? It would know soon enough, wouldnt it?

The real question is why did Trump hold up the aid?

by Anonymousreply 302November 13, 2019 5:54 PM

R301, right on the money!

by Anonymousreply 303November 13, 2019 5:54 PM

Of course the Ukraine President isn't going to say on the world stage that Trump was pressuring him. He needs the American aid.

by Anonymousreply 304November 13, 2019 5:55 PM

Adam Schiff is on it with getting Ratcliffe's ass in order.

by Anonymousreply 305November 13, 2019 5:55 PM

Please do not mis-ethnicize Nunes. He's of Portuguese decent, not Spanish (which would be Nuñez). We don't want him.

by Anonymousreply 306November 13, 2019 5:55 PM

22 seconds...

by Anonymousreply 307November 13, 2019 5:56 PM

R306, who happened to do that after I pointed that out?

R307, that's why his last name fits his face if you missed part of it...RATcliffe.

by Anonymousreply 308November 13, 2019 5:57 PM

Ratcliffe is annoying as hell.

by Anonymousreply 309November 13, 2019 5:58 PM

and as Schiff points out, Taylor might not know exactly when Ukraine knew about the holdup on aid

by Anonymousreply 310November 13, 2019 5:58 PM

The ONLY reason the GOP wants to out the whistle blower is to focus all attention on him and away from the actual charges. They want to vilify him/her personally

At this point, everything the whistleblower said has been verified time after time by witnesses.

His identity is irrelevant.

by Anonymousreply 311November 13, 2019 5:59 PM

[quote] and as Schiff points out, Taylor might not know exactly when Ukraine knew about the holdup on aid

Plus, do we have any idea whether Trump knew or not when he made the phone call?

by Anonymousreply 312November 13, 2019 5:59 PM

Somebody upthread, r308. I missed your correction. I hear Nuñez alot in the media and it ticks me off.

by Anonymousreply 313November 13, 2019 6:01 PM

[quote] The ONLY reason the GOP wants to out the whistle blower is to focus all attention on him

No they want to scare the shit out of anyone who ever thinks about blowing the whistle on Trump ever again because once he completely outed there will be death threats against his life.

by Anonymousreply 314November 13, 2019 6:01 PM

Who the fuck goes by Gym instead of Jim? Totally pretentious.

by Anonymousreply 315November 13, 2019 6:04 PM

In the movie version, Victor Garber should play Kent.

by Anonymousreply 316November 13, 2019 6:06 PM

Trumpanzee Ari Fleischer not happy with the morning's proceedings:

Whatever the GOP counsel is doing, it's not working. I don't undertand (sic) where he's going.

by Anonymousreply 317November 13, 2019 6:06 PM

[quote] Who the fuck goes by Gym instead of Jim? Totally pretentious.

Jordan goes by Jim, people just love to call him Gym because of his reputation in the Gym.

by Anonymousreply 318November 13, 2019 6:06 PM

so because Taylor and Kent aren't firsthand witnesses, they should be discredited according to repubs

by Anonymousreply 319November 13, 2019 6:06 PM

R314 wins the gold star. This is exactly why they want him outed. There were rumors of several other whistle blowers, as well as confirmation from the current whistle Blower's attorney, about another one that he's representing...notice this died down since the Republicans became insistent on outing the one now.

by Anonymousreply 320November 13, 2019 6:06 PM

Why did they decide to let Jordan come over from another committee that he had absolutely nothing to do with? Next thing they'll want Gaetz' ass in the room.

by Anonymousreply 321November 13, 2019 6:07 PM

Why do they keep screaming at the witnesses? It's very annoying.

by Anonymousreply 322November 13, 2019 6:07 PM

R321 all for Fox and the performance aspect of it

by Anonymousreply 323November 13, 2019 6:08 PM

Because they watch FOX opinion network all day, R322.

by Anonymousreply 324November 13, 2019 6:08 PM

Even the GOP Trump-bootlickers don't want the optics of Gaetz.

by Anonymousreply 325November 13, 2019 6:08 PM

R316, I TOTALLY SEE THAT NOW. THAT'S why I have such a boner for Kent - he looks like the daddy I really indeed want, haha. The one who likes to have fun all the time. (Yeah, I have daddy issues - not afraid or scared to admit it either)

by Anonymousreply 326November 13, 2019 6:08 PM

Rick Wilson:

Remember: the Republican questioning is not meant for anything more than feeder material for Fox and their fundraising emails.

by Anonymousreply 327November 13, 2019 6:09 PM

[quote]Next thing they'll want Gaetz' ass in the room.

I loved this tweet about this moron:

chelsea tarwater ‏ @chlstrwtr Oct 23 matt gaetz is what happens when a beer keg makes a wish to be a real boy

by Anonymousreply 328November 13, 2019 6:10 PM

R323, they should have brought more game then, honestly.

R325, I'm surprised he's not trying to storm the room again...it IS after lunch time for them because they have it handed to them by Himes.

by Anonymousreply 329November 13, 2019 6:10 PM

R312: Speaker Pelosi had the power to block his temporary inclusion on the Committee and I am clueless as to why she didn't exercise that authority.

by Anonymousreply 330November 13, 2019 6:11 PM

so according to Jordan, because Ukrainian President had 3 meetings with Taylor and didn't link aid to the investigations, Taylor did not understand things correctly

when in reality the Ukrainian President was probably trying to ignore the matter for as long as possible

by Anonymousreply 331November 13, 2019 6:12 PM

by Anonymousreply 333November 13, 2019 6:13 PM

R328, she couldn't have said it better than me. He just screams "frat, rich boy" when you look at him. I wonder if he's really gay though...

by Anonymousreply 334November 13, 2019 6:14 PM

R330, she probably didn't want any more delays and phoney claims of unfairness.

by Anonymousreply 335November 13, 2019 6:15 PM

[quote]they should have brought more game then, honestly.

The GOP game is that race scene in Mr. Mom where the employees try to tackle Michael Keaton's character to make sure the boss Martin Mull wins. They cheat over and over again on Mull's behalf to protect his fragile, rice paper ego. That's who the GOP has become. Protecting Martin Mull/Trump at all costs - including their dignity.

by Anonymousreply 336November 13, 2019 6:15 PM

R330, she should have.

Why do they keep getting Ratcliffe to speak? He hardly knows anything about foreign policy. I feel like they took a vote behind the scenes to say that he and Jordan would be the ones asking the questions and speaking the most.

by Anonymousreply 337November 13, 2019 6:16 PM

Obama Derangement Syndrome 2019.

Jackie, yield to Adam. Please.

by Anonymousreply 338November 13, 2019 6:17 PM

Better call Sall than Ratcliffe!

by Anonymousreply 339November 13, 2019 6:18 PM

That side eye queen behind Jackie!

by Anonymousreply 340November 13, 2019 6:18 PM

R313, ah, gotcha. The media does do that and it makes me mad too because Spanish and Portuguese are hardly the same when spoken.

by Anonymousreply 341November 13, 2019 6:19 PM

Does Jackie have a paper clip in her hair?

by Anonymousreply 342November 13, 2019 6:20 PM

Jackie really needs some help with her highlights.

by Anonymousreply 343November 13, 2019 6:20 PM

Gym Jordan is such a smug fucker. I’d like to push him through a plate glass window.

by Anonymousreply 344November 13, 2019 6:20 PM

Sometimes I wonder what would have really happened in politics had Jackie Speier actually died at Port Kaituma in 1978...like, if she died, who would have taken Leo Ryan's district, haha?

by Anonymousreply 345November 13, 2019 6:21 PM

All someone had to do to throw BILL TAYLOR, BLESS! Off his game was come dressed as Goofy.

Game over.

by Anonymousreply 346November 13, 2019 6:21 PM

Why is this cancer-looking Stewart even talking...?

by Anonymousreply 347November 13, 2019 6:23 PM

Rick Wilson, self described apostate Republican and generally amusing pundit, also calls him Gym.

by Anonymousreply 353November 13, 2019 6:28 PM

Decorated Vet Bill Taylor is what the GOP thinks it is as a party. It ain't.

They worship a draft-dodging trashbag of shit from Queens because he does the bidding of special interest and would've done business with the Bin Laden family on 9/11 given the chance and no one found out.

This was always how Trump did business. He has NO moral compass. A scumbag from NYC and I'm a lifelong NYer. People like Trump are a dime a dozen in how they operate. Of course this happened. Someone like me looks at it from the perspective of knowing who Trump has always been and how he does business.

In NYer lingo: He doesn't know from ethics and decency.

by Anonymousreply 354November 13, 2019 6:29 PM

Okay... and, now we know the Republicans winning strategy. They know that their base is stupid and will NEVER read anything for themselves. Therefore, they can go on about how the Democrats have told lie after lie after lie and their base will believe that.

And, on this they are probably 100% correct.

by Anonymousreply 355November 13, 2019 6:31 PM

[quote]Who cares whether or not Ukraine knew about the stopping of aid at the point of the call?

Elise Stefanik is a NY Republican. Why hasn’t she been weeded out? Is Albany all old white people, then?

by Anonymousreply 357November 13, 2019 6:35 PM

The reason why Gym Jordan never puts a jacket on is because he only ever has time enough to put his pants and shirt back on when he gets caught in the locker room with a bro.

by Anonymousreply 358November 13, 2019 6:35 PM

Who is this woman who said to the listening audience, the two most important things is that the Ukraine received the money and two there was never an investigation on Biden? Way to spoon feed bullshit. I hope someone reframes this.

They need to get rid of the "Breaking News". Is that covering the speakers names?

by Anonymousreply 359November 13, 2019 6:36 PM

R357, upstate NY is full of white Republicans.

by Anonymousreply 360November 13, 2019 6:37 PM

Upstate might as well be Ohio, that's why.

R359: those ridiculous banners are causing confusion as to whose team is at bat.

by Anonymousreply 362November 13, 2019 6:39 PM

It's curious to me these hearings don't have great urgency - even to me who is so disturbed by this President. Who remembers the Nixon years, and how those hearings gripped the nation. I think the explanation is simple:

Everyone knows that the President abused his power. Some believe that's ok. Some believe it's not ok. It's that simple. Impeachment will happen. The Senate will not convict.

Everything depends on the 2020 election.

by Anonymousreply 363November 13, 2019 6:42 PM

R363, it's because of social media. People find their own echo chambers -particularly on the right- where blatant lies and hypocrisy are sanitized to suit their viewpoint.

by Anonymousreply 364November 13, 2019 6:44 PM

Media has changed so much. Facts matter less than assertions and arguments.

by Anonymousreply 365November 13, 2019 6:45 PM

R361 she is way upstate..like Adirondaks and Fort Drum. Most people in Albany/Rochester/Syracuse are middle of the road.

by Anonymousreply 366November 13, 2019 6:46 PM

I like Joachim better than Julien. Always have.

by Anonymousreply 367November 13, 2019 6:49 PM

R364 Not really sanitized, more rationalized. I think Republicans think it's ok for the President to act like an autocrat. To abuse power for his own personal purposes, to dissemble and gaslight, to obstruct justice, and demolish traditional norms. I think they elected a strong Leader who would behave in this way. That's why it's even more disturbing to me - not just hiding in the constructed right-wing media-driven echochamber, but actually believing that abusing power is ok, if you like the Leader doing that. This is proto-fascism.

by Anonymousreply 368November 13, 2019 6:50 PM

Oh - just fuck off, Joaquin.

by Anonymousreply 369November 13, 2019 6:52 PM

R367 Absolutely... no comparison. I'd vote for Joachim.

by Anonymousreply 370November 13, 2019 6:52 PM

Joaquin Castro was good.

by Anonymousreply 371November 13, 2019 6:52 PM

I like Kent. He's confident.

by Anonymousreply 372November 13, 2019 6:53 PM

R368, amazing how the Trump supporters who scream about being such patriots and knowing the constitution, could be the complete opposite in their actual ideology.

It's like claiming to be vegan as you BBQ steaks for your dinner.

by Anonymousreply 373November 13, 2019 6:54 PM

Without sympathy to certain parties, aren't these fuckers hungry? It's three in the afternoon.

by Anonymousreply 374November 13, 2019 6:55 PM

R372 Taylor has that Mueller "old guy caught in the headlights" affect - Kent is rock solid.

by Anonymousreply 375November 13, 2019 6:56 PM

Drumpf is speaking soon? Resign!!!

by Anonymousreply 376November 13, 2019 6:56 PM

Himes really is messin with my head. I have a serious crush. Watching him slumed in his chair a terrible thought occurred to me? Is he short?

by Anonymousreply 377November 13, 2019 6:57 PM

R375 agree. I liked Kent’s “I remember that and it’s true”. It sounded like a shaded fuck you.

I’ve turned the sound down on Ratcliffe since then.

by Anonymousreply 378November 13, 2019 6:58 PM

What a turd that Ratcliffe is.

by Anonymousreply 379November 13, 2019 6:59 PM

I despise Ratcliffe

of course he had to come with a theatrical moment. Fox will now use this clip too

"what is Schiff hiding? Why won't he answer the question?"

bullshit

glad Swallwell stepped up there

by Anonymousreply 384November 13, 2019 7:04 PM

Jordan is evil

by Anonymousreply 385November 13, 2019 7:05 PM

Jordan must be one of those feeding conspiracy theories to Trump.

by Anonymousreply 386November 13, 2019 7:06 PM

Gym is unhinged. He seems to believe that saying something loudly will make it true.

by Anonymousreply 387November 13, 2019 7:07 PM

Why doesn’t Schiff tell these screeching Republicans, I dealt with the WB’s lawyer, not himself? He needs to keep repeating it, since they keep accusing him over and over.

by Anonymousreply 388November 13, 2019 7:08 PM

Jordan is abusing his time. Isn’t he supposed to be asking questions?

by Anonymousreply 389November 13, 2019 7:08 PM

haha Welch had a great comeback for Jordan

by Anonymousreply 390November 13, 2019 7:09 PM

Can we declare war on this asshole's district? Jordan is a cancer.

by Anonymousreply 391November 13, 2019 7:09 PM

by Anonymousreply 392November 13, 2019 7:09 PM

I'm glad Welch got Gym's ass and handed it back to him.

by Anonymousreply 393November 13, 2019 7:10 PM

Are these closing arguments or something?

by Anonymousreply 394November 13, 2019 7:10 PM

R390 what was it? I lost my streaming feed.

by Anonymousreply 395November 13, 2019 7:10 PM

Sweet Jesus, with one line Welch destroyed Gym.

by Anonymousreply 396November 13, 2019 7:11 PM

Did Jordan just say It really is a shame what the Democrats have put this country through for the past three years??!

HA HA HA HA...

by Anonymousreply 397November 13, 2019 7:11 PM

R395, that if Jordan wanted to know who started all this, maybe he should tell Trump to come sit before the committee.

by Anonymousreply 398November 13, 2019 7:12 PM

Schiff should be much more aggressive on how he didn't meet with the whistle blower. This is where Democrats suck at messaging and often let Republicans define the issue.

by Anonymousreply 399November 13, 2019 7:13 PM

R395, Jordan was whining about the whistleblower not coming forward "The one who started all of this"

Welch replied that he also wants to see the person who started all this and invited President Trump to take a seat over there.

by Anonymousreply 400November 13, 2019 7:13 PM

Too many speeches from the GOP. Ask your stupid questions.

by Anonymousreply 401November 13, 2019 7:13 PM

R427 their goal is to distract from Trump's wrongdoings. By highlighting Biden, they're trying to convince the public that the Democrats are the ones covering up stuff.

by Anonymousreply 431November 13, 2019 7:30 PM

I'm really curious what's gonna happen when Fiona Hill testifies and the repubs keep repeating the LIE that Ukraine interfered in our 2016 election. She was quite vocal about it in the transcript of her closed door hearing

by Anonymousreply 432November 13, 2019 7:31 PM

Katy Tur @KatyTurNBC: With all due respect, it’s odd Jordan and GOP keep harping on whistleblower when his/her allegations have been corroborated by the two men sitting in front of them - and the the other witnesses to come.

Asha Rangappa @AshaRangappa_: Has any GOP member explained why — if as Jim Jordan says Ukraine is “one of the three most corrupt countries on the planet” — Trump trusted them to investigate two U.S. citizens for...corruption? 🤔

Jacqueline Alemany @JaxAlemany: Jordan just claimed that GOP “will never get a chance” to question the whistleblower. The whistleblower made an offer to answer GOP’s written questions - Nunes has ignored the offer.

by Anonymousreply 435November 13, 2019 7:32 PM

by Anonymousreply 436November 13, 2019 7:33 PM

by Anonymousreply 437November 13, 2019 7:33 PM

From Nate Silver site:

NATHANIEL RAKICH3:30 PM Just some final thoughts as we start to wrap up here: If the impeachment hearings are a playoff series (and political scientists have found that their effect is mostly cumulative, not instantaneous), Democrats won Game 1. Kent and especially Taylor gave a detailed summary of how they saw the Ukraine scandal unfold, with the cherry on top of a new allegation that Trump himself asked about the investigations over the phone.

The Republican counterattacks mostly consisted of a difficult-to-follow staff cross-examination and trafficking in anti-Biden conspiracy theories. Although some of the individual members got around to making good points (e.g., about how Kent’s and Taylor’s testimony was secondhand), the GOP defense seemed geared toward a Fox News-watching audience who doesn’t need to be persuaded.

I think the smart bet is still that public opinion will be difficult to move, but I think Democrats did more to convince swing voters today.

by Anonymousreply 439November 13, 2019 7:34 PM

I don't listen to Republicans ask their questions, because they only lie and make false assumptions. I am afraid the right winners will get their way and it will be the end of our democracy and America will have the most corrupt government in the world. And honestly the media bares the blame, they allowed right wing liars to lie, lie and lie, not correcting those pigs for years at a time. It was disgusting.

by Anonymousreply 442November 13, 2019 7:37 PM

George Conway on MSNBC

by Anonymousreply 443November 13, 2019 7:38 PM

Sean PatrickMaloney is a hot Irish daddy. George Conway is disgusting looking. He and Kellyanne were made for each other.

by Anonymousreply 444November 13, 2019 7:38 PM

Will Kellyanne get in trouble or be fired?

Rep. Peter Welch - D VT - at large

What does the at-large mean?

by Anonymousreply 450November 13, 2019 7:56 PM

At large usually means the person who got the most votes from all parties involved.

by Anonymousreply 451November 13, 2019 7:59 PM

He represents the entire state. A few states with small populations only have one "at-large" representative for the entire state instead of individual congressional districts each represented by a different representative, R450.

by Anonymousreply 452November 13, 2019 7:59 PM

Someone should ask FOX how much the benghazi investigation/hearings cost taxpayers. And at least HRC testified, which is more than anyone can say about Trump.

by Anonymousreply 455November 13, 2019 8:01 PM

REALLY?

by Anonymousreply 458November 13, 2019 8:05 PM

[quote]Republican talking points are pretty uniformly weak here...and easy to deflate (See Welch v. Jordan today)

That's what his tribe believes. It is, of course, not at all what he really wants, does, values. Look at the dictionary to define "corrupt" and there's a pic of Trump.

He said the impeachment witnesses today "further tie Trump to Ukraine pressure".

He also called Taylor's statements about Trump "bombshells" because it shows Trump "cared more about investigating Biden than he did about the Ukraine".

by Anonymousreply 474November 13, 2019 9:05 PM

It's beginning to leak out about how nervous Republicans are about this. In my opinion, this is just now becoming real for many Republicans--not Trump yet, though. I think on some level it is already a conclusion that Trump will be impeached by the House. People would just blame partisan politics on that. By making Nicolle Wallace lead anchor alongside Brian Williams, looks like the NBC/MSBNC bosses punished Rachel Maddow for criticizing them on air the other week.

Nicolle is terrific, but Rachel has seniority. Or had...

by Anonymousreply 495November 14, 2019 1:24 AM

I don't know r495, I figured they did it because Nicolle Wallace has been shown to have good chemistry with Brian Williams; she's been on his show numerous times.

Why does EVERYTHING have to be a controversy?

by Anonymousreply 496November 14, 2019 1:35 AM

Not one despicable Deplorable will even listen to the hearings because they can not understand them. Most of the House can't understand the crimes that the President commits.

by Anonymousreply 497November 14, 2019 1:51 AM

No one's punishing Maddow. She is exhausted. She was talking about it with LAwrence O'Donnell tonight. She has to go to Atlanta to moderate the Democratic Debate next Wednesday when the Impeachment hearings will be in full swing. So she's doing her regular show, covering the impeachment, then running to ATL for the Debate. And in addition to the Impeachment hearings and the Democratic Campaign news coverage, there's awals another shit mess of breaking news from the Trump White House.

by Anonymousreply 498November 14, 2019 2:18 AM

the real question is what are independents and moderates saying.

The deplorables are of course watching Fox and the primetime hosts tonight are of course declaring victory, saying the witnesses didn't deliver anything damning about Trump but are highlighting the moments when Hunter Biden was mentioned.

by Anonymousreply 499November 14, 2019 2:22 AM

None of this will change the Trump base. He will be impeached but not convicted. But remember we just need to change the outcome in 3-4 states, that went for Trump by 70k votes. We just need to flip 70k voters in key states.

by Anonymousreply 500November 14, 2019 2:28 AM

Maybe Rachel didn't want to do it and get ready for her own show. Besides, after the hearing was over, that was Nicole's regular time slot. So, it was a no brainer for her to co-anchor during the afternoon.

by Anonymousreply 501November 14, 2019 2:28 AM

[quote]The deplorables are of course watching Fox and the primetime hosts tonight are of course declaring victory, saying the witnesses didn't deliver anything damning about Trump but are highlighting the moments when Hunter Biden was mentioned.

Impeachment Hearings Open With Revelation on Trump’s Ukraine Pressure

by Anonymousreply 503November 14, 2019 2:34 AM

While some have argued that Schiff seems bloodless and dispassionate in his chairmanship of the hearing today, I argue that he totally knows what he’s doing.

As a former prosecutor, he knows that you can’t start out with your volume on 11, a lesson that failed lawyer Gym Jordan never learned.

A case is like a song or novel, it should start out soft and then build up to a crescendo during which your strongest, most emotional testimony should fall. This peak is going to happen late next week, when they have someone appearing who was actually on the call and can give first hand testimony of not only the content but also the spirit of the call.

He is a great prosecutor and knows exactly what he’s doing. Watching these hearings will be a masterclass in the way to present a case.

by Anonymousreply 504November 14, 2019 3:03 AM

I think Schiff is great. I wish he could lead the judiciary too. Nadler isn't as effective and lost control of a few hearings

by Anonymousreply 505November 14, 2019 3:09 AM

Gym Jordan was a masterstroke by the Rethuglicans. Not only does every rant or ramble stoke the base, the broadcast media loves his buffoonery. So he's getting an unfortunate amount of air time. Well played, assholes.

BRavo, R500. The exact number is 77,744. That is exactly how many votes Trump needed to win the electoral college. They were stolen, but then, gods only know how many were actually stolen. Probably more than 100,000. The game plan was to make it seem close even though all polling, including exit polling showed that was not the case. Tighter? yes, but not nearly as close as they wanted us to believe. This time we can't afford a close race. We need overwhelming turnout and should be fighting right now, and supporting efforts to stop suppression, and fraud at the state level.

by Anonymousreply 540November 14, 2019 6:35 PM

R438 - yes the Dems convinced the swing voters - what they managed to do again today is convince the voters that the Dems are the do nothing, forever crying wolf political party that must finally be pushed aside. Taylor and Kent both were speechless without a response when asked what was the impeachable offense. Game over.

by Anonymousreply 541November 14, 2019 6:39 PM

Stuff like Moscow Mitch sticks! Use it. We need to develop more self assurance. I mean. Did you think they wouldn't fight back? Did you think they wouldn't come up with excuses or lies to cover theirasses? This is not unexpected. What is discouraging is that we haven't been smart enough to anticipate and neutralize it. We need to fight smart and have some fun with their stupidity. Gym Jordan needs to be a regular feature on any show with a comedian. What I want to see is abuse and ridicule heaped on Trump and the GOP members of the Senate and do it so ef fectively we can run their asses out of Washington.

"If the president has something that is exculpatory -- Mr. President, that means you have anything that shows your innocence -- then he should make that known ... so far we haven't see that."

r539, Great advice but r534 is what we call a CONCERN TROLL.

They try to bring everybody down by making everything seem hopeless. They want us to give up.

In other words they are a Trump deplorable.

You're welcome.

by Anonymousreply 558November 14, 2019 11:34 PM

R558, I know where you’re coming from, but you’re deluding yourself if you don’t think that many people who hate Dump feel—at times—like what r534 feels. I know some of my friends (all Dump haters) feel helpless and hopeless; because of the shit storm of crap Republicans are throwing out there, they think nothing will ever change. Rather than telling them to nut up, how about a dialogue on how all of us can maintain our focus. It doesn’t help to call someone a troll who may indeed be expressing their frustration. Block them if you think they’re a troll, but I honestly don’t know how you can tell.

by Anonymousreply 559November 14, 2019 11:54 PM

Agree R559. It’s OK for people to express the frustration that we all feel. The Repukes in general and tRump in particular has gotten away with so much shit that it is impossible for people to not feel hopeless at time.

by Anonymousreply 560November 15, 2019 12:13 AM

We may not be able to do what we want to do, but we have to do what we can. We have to fight. We have to push back. We don't have the luxury of giving in to our fears and anxieties. If we don't succeed, I still intend for them to be bruised and bloodied and weakened so that they never win again. I want to damage them.

I want them to dread being in a fight with us. We need to believe we are badasses and go after them, giving no quarter. Our way of life, our country, this planet, etc. depends on it. We have to fight. So after you wring your hands and wallow in fear and anxiety, put on your big boy pants and your steel toed shoes and get out here and kick some ass.

The only defeat that matters is self defeat. If your friends wallow tell them to man up and quit being pussies. We have no choice. At the end of the day I need to know I did everything I could.I will not be one of those who sits there as a some fucking victim and wonders how this all happened. I intend to fight until I drop dead in my tracks. Period.

by Anonymousreply 561November 15, 2019 12:18 AM

R527, I think Nicolle Wallace's son is 8. She mentions him constantly and used to say "My 7 year old" but lately has been saying "I have an 8 year old at home".

Whatever his age, he's too fat (assuming he's the child on her lap in her Twitter picture at the link).

I'm glad Pelosi called Dump's shenanigans what they were: BRIBERY. And there's your "impeachable offense" Gym "I look the other way when student athletes are molested" Jordan!!!

by Anonymousreply 564November 15, 2019 1:25 AM

Why aren't the press calling out the Republicans for having Gym Jordan on the GOP committee when he's in the middle of a molestation scandal?

by Anonymousreply 565November 15, 2019 1:37 AM

[quote]Why aren't the press

There are an infinite number of things of which the press must answer, but they never will. Not a more arrogant, entitled group of irresponsible assholes will you find.

Trump is fucking president because of them. I don't want to her about Russia. They normalized that asshole for years. The birther shit should've been the end of him, but it wasn't. Scumbags like Wolf Blitzer continued to interview him along with other birthers - as if ANYONE needed to hear from him.

The press serve themselves and ratings, not the people.

Globe and Mail

OPINION: Take it from a TV critic: Day 1 of Trump impeachment hearings had ‘stay tuned’ written all over it

– It was good, gripping TV, dramatic at times, with occasional comic levity and some distinctive, memorable characters. That’s what Democrats wanted from the first day of the televised impeachment hearings. .

What they didn’t get was a big bombshell “gotcha” revelation. But that could be coming. This was a slyly arranged first day.

Yes, R564. We shouldn't be surprised that a coward like Gym Jordan, who said nothing when he knew that boys were being sexually assaulted, would have no problem backing up someone like Trump. The reason his posture is so hunched over is because he has no backbone.

by Anonymousreply 571November 15, 2019 3:39 AM

A Rethug congressman was on Chris Hayes tonight spewing nonsense how impeachable offenses are those that would be punishable by death (or that at the time of the founders would have been) like treason. Chris per usual stammered incredulously that BRIBERY is written in the Constitution but nobody gets the death penalty for bribery. The Rethug didn't miss a beat and went on about how unqualified Hunter Biden got a position on a company's board.

I was like, Chris you shouldn't be stammering, you should be talking over him how completely unqualified Jared and Ivanka got WH positions only because of nepotism, and are accepting bribes by foreign governments in the form of Ivanka's Chinese trademarks, or that relative of Jared's who was hawking real estate to investors in China with promises for access to the WH, and tons of stuff we don't know yet.

[QUOTE] What they didn’t get was a big bombshell “gotcha” revelation. But that could be coming.

Are they fucking retarded. There was absolutely a bombshell on the first day. The revelation that there was yet ANOTHER phone call, this time between Trump and Sondland, in which he expressly stated that all he gave a fuck about w/r/t Ukraine was the “Biden investigations.”

Why is the media retarded? Also, I agree with the poster about everything he said about Chris Hayes. Why are Ivanka and Jared not being brought up constantly as actual examples of special favors and nepotism? You know those two are fucking like rabbits and cheers-ing with flutes of champagne every night, literally laughing about how much they’ve been able to get away with shit.

But, that's the issue R561. How do you push back? Nikki Haley does some interview yesterday and says that Trump doesn't lie and never has lied. There are very intelligent people, who have very impressive degrees, that believe with all of their heart and soul that Trump has built 300 or miles of wall when he reality he has built nothing. There are those idiots, "Diamond and Silk" who actually did a video of where they (and their audience) read the transcript, and... On and on...

Let's hope so, R581. I think and believe that Miss Nancy and Mr. Schiff are playing this quite correct thus far but I'll admit that I've become upset in the past because it seemed as if Democrats weren't doing anything and nothing they could do would make any impact. There was even a thread on DL started by someone who was pissed with the Democrats. So, I'm not the only one.
