If people are going to do reboots, it should be as a limited run ONE season show.

I like the idea of seeing what happened to the characters.

It's when they over stay their welcome, ahem Will and Grace, that it gets tedious.

by Anonymousreply 1November 12, 2019 10:35 PM

R1 so like Gilmore Girls did?

by Anonymousreply 2November 12, 2019 10:37 PM

Helen Cunt remains aggressively hideous.

by Anonymousreply 3November 12, 2019 10:41 PM

She really looks horrible there. Frightening even. Surely they could have used a better picture.

by Anonymousreply 4November 12, 2019 10:50 PM

I would time in for the SJW lesbian daughter and man bun son and all their eye-rolling.

Paul: So you picked your college yet?

Son: Dude! I make millions showing my ass on Instagram! Who needs that college shit?!

Jamie: So, how's Mychayla?

Daughter: Shut it, Boomer!

by Anonymousreply 5November 12, 2019 11:11 PM

OP: Will & Grave could last forever. I love it, and I'm sad it's ending.

by Anonymousreply 6November 12, 2019 11:15 PM

Helen Hunt has done very bizarre things to her face.

by Anonymousreply 7November 12, 2019 11:17 PM

They should do a Mary Tyler Moore reboot

by Anonymousreply 8November 13, 2019 3:47 AM

She no longer looks human.

by Anonymousreply 9November 13, 2019 3:55 AM

Isn’t Helen Hunt a muff diver?

by Anonymousreply 10November 13, 2019 3:58 AM

What is Spectrum Originals?

by Anonymousreply 11November 13, 2019 4:00 AM

Spectrum Originals. That’s really scraping the barrel bottom of the TV world.

by Anonymousreply 12November 13, 2019 4:37 AM

What has Helen Hunt done to her face? I can't even figure it out. She looks so weird.

by Anonymousreply 13November 13, 2019 4:40 AM

Past 20 years have been rough they look so old.

by Anonymousreply 14November 13, 2019 4:42 AM

Are sure that’s Helen Hunt and not drag queen Willam?

by Anonymousreply 15November 13, 2019 10:07 AM

^^Are we

by Anonymousreply 16November 13, 2019 10:08 AM

She looks amazingly old. Does she lie about her age, she’s supposed to be 56 but looks like she’s in her 60s, and that’s with makeup.

by Anonymousreply 17November 13, 2019 10:13 AM

Great call r15, and now I can't unsee it.

Not a Willam fan, but he would be funnier, sexier, and more interesting in this.

That said, Willam's chin is in serious Leno territory now. He needs to take a trip to South Korea and get that shit sorted.

by Anonymousreply 18November 13, 2019 10:18 AM

Helen Hunt is a walking, living, anti-smoking PSA.

I hate this show with the heat of a thousand suns. I hated it back in the 90s, I hate it even more now, and I hate myself because I know I'll make myself watch it.

by Anonymousreply 19November 13, 2019 10:20 AM

I mean...I don't usually comment on people's looks--unless it's positively--BUT she looks terrible.

by Anonymousreply 20November 13, 2019 10:56 AM

First review. Not a rave but does not think it's bad:

by Anonymousreply 21November 14, 2019 4:35 AM

John Pankow was so good on that Matt Le Blanc show.

by Anonymousreply 22November 14, 2019 4:57 AM

That narrator has what I call a 'silky voice.' My crazy ex had it. I hate it.

by Anonymousreply 23November 14, 2019 5:41 AM

Like Murphy Brown, this is a reboot nobody asked for and nobody wanted. Has anybody even thought about MAY since it went off the air?

by Anonymousreply 24November 14, 2019 5:59 AM

Jesus you queens are getting tired. Helen Hunt is twenty years older and looks it. She looks like a 56 year old Helen Hunt. People's face change as they get old. You think every actress should look like plastic Bravo Housewives with golf ball fillers, fake lips and forty pounds of make-up? She has always been a plain girl and she looks just fine. The show was a nice 30 minute diversion, was never meant to change the world and it didn't. But it would be nice to revisit the characters again.

by Anonymousreply 25November 14, 2019 6:24 AM

Is Judy Geeson in the reboot?

by Anonymousreply 26November 14, 2019 6:45 AM

Mad About You was the Cathy of TV shows.

by Anonymousreply 27November 14, 2019 7:12 AM

Never forget...

by Anonymousreply 28November 14, 2019 7:22 AM

Ironic that Helen's face looks like it met the business end of a twister.

by Anonymousreply 29November 15, 2019 12:19 AM

I'll pass.

It wasn't particularly funny in the original run - whose desperate idea was to revive it?

by Anonymousreply 32November 15, 2019 1:38 AM

Paul Reiser is not hot any more. I'm gonna pass on this one.

by Anonymousreply 33November 15, 2019 1:40 AM

Was Paul Reiser ever hot? ^

by Anonymousreply 34November 15, 2019 1:48 AM

Whhhhyyyyyyyyy??!

by Anonymousreply 35November 15, 2019 2:05 AM

I'd prefer a Cybil or Grace Under Fire reboot first.

by Anonymousreply 36November 15, 2019 2:07 AM

Once this fails, will Reiser push for a My Two Dads revival?

by Anonymousreply 37November 15, 2019 2:26 AM

r36- YES!!

by Anonymousreply 38November 15, 2019 2:31 AM

I do not even know what Spectrum is. Is it a channel or a streaming service I won't pay for?

by Anonymousreply 39November 15, 2019 2:32 AM

Why does Helen Cunt look like Fire Marshal Bill?

by Anonymousreply 40November 15, 2019 2:32 AM

"The Nanny" reboot would have a better chance than this. I don't even recall what the premise of that mediocrity was, except for the fact that their dog was very sweet.

by Anonymousreply 41November 15, 2019 2:33 AM

The reviews (so far) are pretty respectable and the critics (grudgingly) give this revival credit for being better than they anticipated; however, these reviews to me also prove yet again how horribly fickle critics can be. On the one hand they fault these old shows, like "Murphy Brown" for example, for trying too hard to be in the "now" by addressing current cultural and political issues, but then they turn around and say the problem with "Mad About You" is that it's stuck in the past and doesn't give new audiences any reason to care.

Not to say either position is wrong, just that reviews like this prove that, no matter what, critics simply can never be satisfied. These shows are always damned if they do and damned if they don't.

by Anonymousreply 42November 15, 2019 2:35 AM

What’s that now, R37?

by Anonymousreply 43November 15, 2019 2:47 AM

[quote]I do not even know what Spectrum is. Is it a channel or a streaming service I won't pay for?

It's a cable company like Comcast. Only Spectrum customers can access it for now until the DVD's . Just like Glenn Close's show "Damages" which was only available on Direct TV.

by Anonymousreply 44November 15, 2019 3:09 AM

How the hell are they still living in the same apartment?

Do you mean to tell me that they've raised a daughter from birth to adulthood in a 1-bedroomed apartment?

I know New York real estate is expensive but c'mon! This is just sloppy, lazy production.

by Anonymousreply 45November 16, 2019 4:31 AM

R45, maybe she slept on the couch like we did.

by Anonymousreply 46November 16, 2019 1:21 PM

Damn, Helen looks like the reverend from Poltergeist now.

Who the hell even wanted a Mad About You reboot? Nobody who wasn't an adult in the 90s even remembers this show. It isn't a show like Friends, Seinfeld, Will and Grace, etc. that had a big impact on culture and is still huge around the world.

by Anonymousreply 50November 19, 2019 2:17 PM

Nobody asked for this.

by Anonymousreply 51November 19, 2019 2:21 PM

I liked the look of it. Except for Hunt's lips. But overall, I think it looks entertaining. Lighten up, bitches. Sometimes I think you dry old things hate as a reflex.

by Anonymousreply 52November 19, 2019 2:23 PM

Not since “Cocoon”have seen such a love story ...

by Anonymousreply 53November 19, 2019 2:27 PM

[quote]Who the hell even wanted a Mad About You reboot? Nobody who wasn't an adult in the 90s even remembers this show.

Well if nobody from the 90s remembers it I guess we just can't have it.

But that could be problematic for any future production, if memory of it is a requirement for going ahead.

by Anonymousreply 54November 19, 2019 2:29 PM

R54, my point is who was even clamoring for this reboot? With Friends and Will and Grace, those shows are still remembered fondly and are still popular all over the world. But Mad About You?

by Anonymousreply 55November 19, 2019 2:40 PM

Well, who cares? Does it need to be justified? People pitch show ideas all the time and people make decisions about whether to invest.

It was a well written, well viewed show that won twelve Emmys. With the trend toward reboots, it's a logical candidate on that basis. It has slightly more to recommend it on that basis than a totally new idea that may or may not fly so therefore, as an investment, it is lower risk.

I'm sorry you find the obvious so upsetting and difficult to understand.

by Anonymousreply 56November 19, 2019 2:44 PM

Hollywood hasn’t had an original idea in decades.

by Anonymousreply 57November 19, 2019 2:48 PM

Neither have DL posters ^

by Anonymousreply 58November 19, 2019 7:38 PM

Reviews are not good but they're also not horrible. Most critics agree that the show isn't very timely and that the reboot wasn't necessary but quite a few also say they found it to be a pleasant surprise, particularly since it's not trying to be anything other than what it was originally. Still, I'd be surprised if Spectrum produces more than the 12(?) episodes that were ordered initially.

by Anonymousreply 59November 20, 2019 1:33 AM

[quote]They should do a Mary Tyler Moore reboot

r8- They did. It's called "Murphy Brown".

by Anonymousreply 60November 20, 2019 3:12 PM

They'd have to boot Mary and Rhoda pretty hard.

by Anonymousreply 61November 20, 2019 3:13 PM

Helen has need an eye lid lift since kindergarten.

by Anonymousreply 63November 20, 2019 3:36 PM

So unless you have Spectrum you can't watch it?

by Anonymousreply 64November 20, 2019 3:41 PM

It's hard for people like Helen Hunt to lie about their age as she's been acting since she was a kid. Same with Elizabeth Taylor.

by Anonymousreply 65November 20, 2019 3:50 PM

R65, yes, that’s Elizabeth Taylor’s biggest problem nowadays.

by Anonymousreply 66November 20, 2019 3:52 PM

Elizabeth has not changed her story about her age in almost ten years.

by Anonymousreply 67November 20, 2019 3:57 PM

Helen looks like a melting crash test dummy.

by Anonymousreply 68November 20, 2019 4:22 PM

Hunt’s face is too uncanny valley distracting for me to watch this.

by Anonymousreply 69November 20, 2019 4:34 PM

It's like she's some sort of reconstructed burn victim.
