Karamo Brown: A Cunt. Oops, sorry, it's just "Karamo" now.

I really wanted to like Karamo but he just comes across as self-righteous. I remember him on The Real World- back when the show was watchable and he was insufferable back then, but so was most of his castmates.

I'm sure it's a lot of media training R3. The cast has to appear as a united front in order for Queer Eye to work. It's not a show that can survive if there's a lot of inter-cast turmoil.

That Advocate article was both unintentionally hilarious and a barely disguised advertorial for the new "kids book" - it was way too long yet not very informative. We are told that Karamo "educated himself" on pansexuality (the not so subtle undertone was that the rest of us need to undergo this reeducation process as well) but the article never attempted to define it or even allow the son to explain why he claimed it. Of course, there is a good reason for avoiding specifics because there is no consensus definition - some people use it as basically a synonym for bisexual, others say bisexuality excludes trans and all its variations so pan is meant to include those but militant bisexuals claim that bisexuality includes trans while other object. I've noticed some men (mainly some cross-over porn actors) use it to mean that in addition to women, they also fuck mtf trannies outside of porn but not men (no that would be too gay obviously and they hate being called gay). My point being, has the son ever dated or even fucked a guy or is this all theoretical? Maybe he thinks that he has to say he is sexually attracted to trans (mtf and ftm??) so as to avoid accusations of transphobia? And how did he not have a clue that his son was not straight?

And don't even get me started on the "I dont believe in coming out but coming in" BS - it is a fucking metaphor for a process of accepting and living ones sexuality not some rigid 10 point plan. And how exactly did Karamo not know he had a son? Reading between the lines, did he knock up some girl in college before he came out (how many women was he sleeping with? maybe he is actually pan - guess he didn't educate himself enough.

The only part of his odd reaction I could empathize with was that fear that homophobic family members will think he turned him gay (sorry Pan). That is quite a common initial emotional response that gay parents have when their own kids come out so that seemed genuine in that messy article...

As much as I dislike the guy have you SEEN that craziness that is Twitter? Screw up and Twitter will have your name, your work place, the names of your relatives and your friends. If some loons were tweeting death threats, do what far, FAR bigger celebs do and report the account, ask their fans to do the same, block the loon, and move right along. That this asshole teaches "adulting" (ugh) on Queer Eye is laughable if that's how he operates in his own life.
