90% of Ewan McGregor’s success in Hollywood is due to having big eyes and a big head

I just realized this while seeing his new Men’s Journal cover at the supermarket.

The cheeky smile and Scottish accent make him permanently fuckable.

by Anonymousreply 1November 2, 2019 12:47 PM

It's true. When you see actors in real life, they look EXTREMELY skinny and small (the camera must really add 10 pounds), with big eyes and bobble heads. It must be something about how it shows up on screen.

That cover posted in the OP really emphasises his lack of a pair of lips.

I loved McGregor in some of his early roles like Trainspotting, Big Fish, and Velvet Goldmine, but he's been really bad lately. I watched August: Osage County the other day and he was horrid. Bad accent, forced line deliveries and facial expressions... just bad.

by Anonymousreply 2November 2, 2019 12:49 PM

His eyes aren't that big.

by Anonymousreply 3November 2, 2019 12:55 PM

Big dick didn't hurt either.

by Anonymousreply 4November 2, 2019 12:56 PM

What about having a mole on your forehead? Did that help him? Looks like he got it removed at some point in time.

[quote]Looks like he got it removed at some point in time.

Wouldn't YOU?

by Anonymousreply 6November 2, 2019 12:59 PM

I hate his name. It's like Urine McGregor.

by Anonymousreply 7November 2, 2019 1:09 PM

The magazine cover in OPs post has been heavily photoshopped. The moles were airbrushed out of existence.

by Anonymousreply 8November 2, 2019 2:28 PM

Yes it did R4.

by Anonymousreply 9November 2, 2019 2:57 PM

He needs to do something about those growing crows feet around his eyes!

by Anonymousreply 10November 2, 2019 3:02 PM

He never recovered from a string of flops in the 2000s that sent his career into limbo.

by Anonymousreply 11November 2, 2019 3:03 PM

I don't necessarily know about big eyes, but it's totally true that when you see many actors, especially stars - and good looking pop musicians, too - they have this look. In many cases these people don't have any fat and will have tiny looking waists. I've sometimes described them as slight-looking.

Saw a few teen/20s instagram celebs at an industry thing and they were mostly somewhat short, with worked-out but tiny, slender bodies, and big heads with lots of perfectly cut and processed hair. Not quite weird looking but almost. They just look SO different from average people (even good looking, fit, average people) I don't really understand it. Also the skin is almost translucent. Again I'm not sure why they look so alien but it's almost like they must use some very expensive or exclusive skin products and training routines, and must not eat much at all. I guess, all for the ability to give a semblance of looking like real human beings when they're lit, made up, and photographed for the screen.

by Anonymousreply 12November 2, 2019 3:11 PM

After whining about green screens for years, Ewan came crawling back to Star Wars.

Divorce gon' pay

by Anonymousreply 13November 2, 2019 3:23 PM

Probably his big dong helped propel his career in the beginning too. He was so memorable in The Pillow Book.

by Anonymousreply 14November 2, 2019 3:28 PM

...and Ewan’s nice floppy intact cock.

by Anonymousreply 15November 2, 2019 5:02 PM

its common for movie stars to have oversized heads, and I dont mean egos...I mean facial size/

also Ewan has a rumoured huge dick as another person posted. Interesting fact, until he left his wife............ his residence was on 5th helena dr directly across the alley from marilyn monroes former brentwood house. They lived there a long time and they doubled the size and gutted it. the ex still lives there/

by Anonymousreply 16November 2, 2019 6:01 PM

R16, rumoured? Have you not seen it? He’s gone full frontal in multiple films.

by Anonymousreply 17November 2, 2019 6:05 PM

[quote] He never recovered from a string of flops in the 2000s that sent his career into limbo.

On the contrary he’s worked consistently in movies for two decades despite never having been responsible for starring in a hit.

by Anonymousreply 18November 2, 2019 6:58 PM

Lest we forget, he is one of the few major stars (the only major star?) to present hole--in that Velvet Goldmine movie.

by Anonymousreply 19November 2, 2019 7:10 PM

In a GQ interview decades ago he stated that the interest around him having "a really big cock" did in fact help his career as it kept him in the public eye. He didn't state whether or not he used that cock to get roles.

by Anonymousreply 20November 2, 2019 9:20 PM

Here's a clip from (I think) his first role - in Dennis Potter's "Lipstick on Your Collar." He was one of three actors credited as "and introducing," but the only one whose career really took off. There's definitely something unique and captivating about him.

For YEARS Ewan looked like he didn't bathe regularly and smelled terrible, essentially like he WAS his trainspotting character.

Then, once he became more mainstream, he seemed to clean up. Now, I think he's sexy in the same way as someone like Paul Rudd.

And, he's a decent actor. People won't be comparing him to Daniel Day Lewis or Olivier, but he's more than serviceable in his roles.

by Anonymousreply 22November 2, 2019 9:48 PM

He was an alcoholic for years.

by Anonymousreply 23November 2, 2019 9:50 PM

[quote]He was an alcoholic for years.

Is there a Scot who hasn't been?

by Anonymousreply 24November 2, 2019 10:18 PM

Don't forget his big Scottish cock!

by Anonymousreply 25November 2, 2019 10:22 PM

Why are Scots well hung but the British and Irish have small dicks?

by Anonymousreply 26November 2, 2019 10:25 PM

Ewan has always had buckets of charisma: He'd booked his first starring role in a miniseries (The Red and the Black) before he'd even finished drama school. He's always struck me as a little lazy, though, when it comes to his career: He took a couple of years in his 30s, the prime age for male actors, to ride around the world on his motorcycle! It seems like now that he's pushing 50, he's valuing his stardom a little more. Or maybe Eve took him to the cleaners and he needs the dough.

by Anonymousreply 27November 2, 2019 10:26 PM

[quote]Why are Scots well hung but the British and Irish have small dicks?

Freeballing under kilts from an early age promotes unbridled penile growth.

by Anonymousreply 28November 2, 2019 10:32 PM

He has an ex-wife and four kids. So yes, that's probably motivated him to work more.

by Anonymousreply 29November 2, 2019 10:32 PM

Two of his kids are adults.

by Anonymousreply 30November 2, 2019 10:35 PM

And he's likely still paying for them, as most celebs do.

by Anonymousreply 31November 2, 2019 10:49 PM

His two older kids were pretty pissed after he left their mom for his sidepiece.

by Anonymousreply 32November 2, 2019 10:53 PM

Doctor Sleep is really good.

by Anonymousreply 33November 2, 2019 11:05 PM

[quote]His two older kids were pretty pissed after he left their mom for his sidepiece.

I'm sure there are still hard feelings but both seem to have come around. They've wished him Happy Father's Day and Happy Birthday on their Instagrams. He turned down work in order to spend time with them. One of his kids was his guest for the premiere of DOCTOR SLEEP.

by Anonymousreply 34November 2, 2019 11:18 PM

[quote]I'm sure there are still hard feelings but both seem to have come around.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

by Anonymousreply 35November 2, 2019 11:25 PM

I wonder how much of a flop his new picture is going to be.

by Anonymousreply 36November 2, 2019 11:50 PM

He's played gay three times now.

Yes/No?

by Anonymousreply 37November 2, 2019 11:52 PM

In his younger days he'd fuck anything that breathed.

by Anonymousreply 38November 2, 2019 11:54 PM

I love him so much more with dark hair. I fell madly in love when he did Moulin Rouge . I always liked him before that, but something about him in that movie just sent me.

by Anonymousreply 39November 3, 2019 1:37 AM

He allegedly got Nicole Kidman pregnant during the filming of Moulin Rouge and she aborted.

by Anonymousreply 40November 3, 2019 3:41 AM

Big head? Ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 41November 3, 2019 3:47 AM

I found it suspicious that Nicole's pregnancy just happened to coincide with Tom divorcing her.

by Anonymousreply 42November 3, 2019 3:49 AM

That may be why his ex-wife is so bitter. For 20 years she let him fuck anything that threw a shadow, and in the end it still wasn't enough to keep him.

by Anonymousreply 43November 3, 2019 1:17 PM

I'm glad his stupid Dr. Sleep movie flopped. Most UK actors can't open big films unless they're playing an American superhero.

by Anonymousreply 44December 6, 2019 7:43 PM

To be fair, most US actors can't, either.

by Anonymousreply 45December 6, 2019 10:40 PM

R45 - Once Upon a Time, the Tom Cruise MI movies, Keanu's John Wick films, and all the main Avengers are American expect Thor. American actors are the surest bet to box office success. UK actors just lead to flops even though their payroll is cheaper.

by Anonymousreply 46December 6, 2019 10:46 PM

I said most, R46. Leonardo DiCaprio is the exception. Cruise's MI movies and Reeve's Johh Wick series are made because of their overseas box office, not American box office. When it comes to American box office, it's DiCaprio or somebody in a superhero suit that wins every time, and it's been that way for the last 15 years. No idea why DiCaprio has the pull he does: He looks like a fat ferret.

by Anonymousreply 47December 6, 2019 10:49 PM

He has a lovely singing voice.

by Anonymousreply 48December 6, 2019 10:58 PM

No, he doesn't.

I knew his The Shining sequel would tank when they did the 4K showing of The Shining in select LA theaters and then had a "sneak preview" of his new picture afterwards...and no one stayed to watch.

by Anonymousreply 50January 4, 2020 12:01 AM

I finally saw Dr. Sleep and remembered this thread. Ewan’s gigantic head and eyes really made him effective in this role.

by Anonymousreply 51October 23, 2020 3:43 PM

I don’t think he looks good in that photo. Is that his real hair? If so, it’s nice.

by Anonymousreply 52October 23, 2020 3:44 PM

R6 No.

by Anonymousreply 53October 23, 2020 3:47 PM

Uh, okay. Sure, OP.

[backs away slowly]

You know? He’s also a very good-looking man with some acting talent, and he’s remarkably well preserved for a man in his 50s. But yeah, okay, “big head and eyes,” yep. Sure.

by Anonymousreply 54October 23, 2020 3:50 PM

I think we can owe a great deal of his success to his big uncut cock.

Pretty much everyone on tee vee or in movies is a Human Bobble Head. Certain people like Kelly Ripa remind me of marionettes from the Thunderbirds.

by Anonymousreply 56October 23, 2020 4:29 PM

I read something on the DL yesterday about this very subject, on a Dr Quinn thread;

[quote] ...Seymour is tiny in real life, by the way. She's a "lollipop person" -- large head, tiny body. The camera loves them.

by Anonymousreply 57October 23, 2020 4:33 PM

He was absolutely swoony in Moulin Rouge.

by Anonymousreply 58October 23, 2020 4:43 PM

Hes really handsome. He was getting big when I was growing up and I always had a big crush on him.

I just saw American Pastoral. It sucked. I don't think directing is his gift.

by Anonymousreply 59October 23, 2020 7:48 PM

Due to his big, long dong!!!! OP needs to have cataracts removed ASAP!!!

by Anonymousreply 60October 23, 2020 7:50 PM

Ewan's accent was horrific in Dr. Sleep. American directors and film staff are way too polite. They need to tell UK actors to get a dialect coach and practice more if they want to play American characters. It was embarrassing.

The Maori guy who was cast to play a BLACK MAN named Jimmy Freeman, who also was wearing fucking cornrows (wtf!!!), also had a really distractingly bad American accent. His casting was also racist as fuck. You're telling me there wasn't ANY Black American guy they could've hired???? Like, the hundreds if not thousands who graduate from top tier drama programs every year?? Or have some sort of career already? That sort of casting really pisses me off.

by Anonymousreply 61November 4, 2020 3:30 PM

And 90% of the success of female TV presenters and film actresses is having a long oval face and blonde hair.

by Anonymousreply 62November 4, 2020 3:43 PM

R10 why? Are you a fan of the fake plastic surgery look?

by Anonymousreply 63November 4, 2020 3:50 PM

Ewan was a terrible choice to play Danny Torrance. RDJ should have done that role. As a kid, he even looked like the little kid who played Danny.
