I liked it.

by Anonymousreply 1November 1, 2019 9:55 AM

Is she in a wheelchair? Why did I think she was?

by Anonymousreply 2November 1, 2019 9:56 AM

Does she have Parkinson’s?

by Anonymousreply 3November 1, 2019 9:57 AM

I'm not sure, R2. Something about her demeanor gives that impression.

by Anonymousreply 4November 1, 2019 9:58 AM

oh Christ that is sad

by Anonymousreply 5November 1, 2019 10:04 AM

Remember the Who Magazine cover of her wedding to David Guest. Michael Jackson as best man, a blonde Liz Taylor as matron of honor, someone called it The Adamm's Family.

by Anonymousreply 6November 1, 2019 10:06 AM

She seems happy enough - what are you talking about?

by Anonymousreply 7November 1, 2019 10:07 AM

There goes my dream of "Whatever Happened To Pookie?" movie sequel.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 8November 1, 2019 10:09 AM

Or maybe this IS the "Whatever Happened To Pookie?" movie sequel.

by Anonymousreply 9November 1, 2019 10:10 AM

I think it's a remake of Whatever Happened to Baby Jane. Lorna's there somewhere; 'Butcha are Liza, ya are in that chair!'

by Anonymousreply 10November 1, 2019 10:14 AM

You mean Salad Days?

by Anonymousreply 11November 1, 2019 10:16 AM

'You wouldn't be ablesh to do thesh horrible thingsh to me if I washn't in thish chair Lorna.....brrrrp….hic' 'Butcha are Liza, you are in that chair!'

by Anonymousreply 12November 1, 2019 10:19 AM

She seems fine.

by Anonymousreply 13November 1, 2019 10:44 AM

Very sad indeed

by Anonymousreply 14November 1, 2019 11:12 AM

Sad. x

by Anonymousreply 15November 1, 2019 11:17 AM

Just five years ago. Something's wrong.

by Anonymousreply 16November 1, 2019 1:04 PM

She's 73, has lived hard, and she hasn't hard any work done (or a stylist, apparently.) But watch the video and she seems to have her marbles. She just seems frail.

by Anonymousreply 17November 1, 2019 1:27 PM

Hasn't had any work done??

by Anonymousreply 18November 1, 2019 2:10 PM

In the thumbnail it looks like she's unable to even contain drool. Click PLAY and she's totally fine.

by Anonymousreply 19November 1, 2019 2:12 PM

Is she trying to look like Renee Zellweger in "Judy" - cause she sure does.

by Anonymousreply 20November 1, 2019 2:28 PM

She could be around for another decade or two. Who knows?

I feel sorry for her. You know she would love to perform again but those days are gone.

by Anonymousreply 21November 1, 2019 2:58 PM

One of the gossip rags said a while back that Feinstein has an unhealthy control of Liza’s life.

by Anonymousreply 22November 1, 2019 3:10 PM
One of the gossip rags said a while back that Feinstein has an unhealthy control of Liza’s life.

That's not like her at all.

by Anonymousreply 23November 1, 2019 3:32 PM

She seems like someone who's in their late 80s, not 73.

by Anonymousreply 24November 1, 2019 4:00 PM

Thanksh, but it's Liza, not Lisha! And that'sh not a hat, it'sh my wig!

by Anonymousreply 25November 1, 2019 4:07 PM
She seems like someone who's in their late 80s, not 73.

That's what happened to her mother, too. She died looking far older than she was in real life.

by Anonymousreply 26November 1, 2019 4:07 PM

HA!!!

SHNORT!!!!

CACKLE!!!

by Anonymousreply 27November 1, 2019 4:11 PM

by Anonymousreply 28November 1, 2019 4:13 PM

Wow, she looks terrible for only being in her 70's

by Anonymousreply 29November 1, 2019 4:15 PM

I was molested

by Anonymousreply 30November 1, 2019 4:15 PM

Was this a Punchy Players video?

by Anonymousreply 31November 1, 2019 4:19 PM

My fartsh ushed to be much dryer when I wash young.

Shorry. Nurshe, Lisha needsh changing!

by Anonymousreply 32November 1, 2019 4:21 PM

Maybe she has Parkinson's. No doubt her hard living (booze and chemicals) has taken it's toll. I'm 66 and I have friends my age and slightly older who range from no real change in their movement and body habitus to those who seem like they are 85- stooped, stiff, etc. The latter group are usually the survivors of HIV and/or hard living (booze and chemicals). Take care of yourselves- it all goes by in a flash!

by Anonymousreply 33November 1, 2019 4:38 PM
My fartsh ushed to be much dryer when I wash young. Shorry. Nurshe, Lisha needsh changing!

Who's going to break it to these idiots? - the shh thing just ain't funny.

by Anonymousreply 34November 1, 2019 5:03 PM

R22, I hadn’t heard that, but I saw it, watching the body language in that video. He’s all up in her space, with one hand weirdly grabbing her. Swear to god, I was going to make a comment about it.

She looks like a hostage forced to do a proof of life stunt.

by Anonymousreply 35November 1, 2019 5:26 PM

She's always been such a good judge of character.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 36November 1, 2019 5:29 PM

Liza wants to have a little fun. She was always such a dynamo. It’s sad her mobility is so limited. Liza is a national treasure.

by Anonymousreply 37November 1, 2019 5:40 PM

Are we sure that's not Judy's freshly exhumed corpse propped up in that wheelchair a la Norma Bates?

by Anonymousreply 38November 1, 2019 5:42 PM

Happy Halloween, Georgia.

by Anonymousreply 39November 1, 2019 5:47 PM

She's found love just like Martha Raye did towards the end. It's a beautiful thing.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 40November 1, 2019 5:55 PM

Yeah, she looks like shit but with the lifestyle she's led it's a miracle she's even alive so let's not be too nitpicky.

by Anonymousreply 41November 1, 2019 5:56 PM

Everyone is acting as though Liza spent her 30s, 40s, and 50s in a bathhouse with her legs in the air sniffing meth. Jeez. She boozed a little and married gay men, what harm is there to that?

by Anonymousreply 42November 1, 2019 5:58 PM

She looks like she's lost a lot of weight - not a good sign in seniors, it indicates a major decline in health. If Liza goes tomorrow she (and we) should be happy she lived this long.

"She's 73, has lived hard, and she hasn't hard any work done"

Is that a JOKE?

by Anonymousreply 43November 1, 2019 5:59 PM

Yeah seriously, what a misleading clickbait title. She doesnt look great but that doesnt mean shes dying. I bet OP doesnt look much better, sitting around at home reading the Midnight Globe and copying their headlines.

by Anonymousreply 44November 1, 2019 6:02 PM

She seems very weak and a little incoherent, drunk maybe? Live it up, girl.

by Anonymousreply 45November 1, 2019 6:05 PM

Damn it, if she dies before me, I'm going to wring the Grim Reaper's neck.

by Anonymousreply 46November 1, 2019 6:07 PM

Parkinson’s sufferers get a mask appearance where its difficult to smile or have much facial expression. Liza looks really bad for 73 w o w!

by Anonymousreply 47November 1, 2019 6:20 PM

She needs to smoke some marijuana. That would help with her ticks and spasms.

by Anonymousreply 48November 1, 2019 6:22 PM

I have a friend with Parkinson’s and marijuana helps tremendously.

by Anonymousreply 49November 1, 2019 6:23 PM

It's hard to believe DL villainess Susan Sarandon is the same age as Liza.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 50November 1, 2019 6:23 PM

Only partially correct, R47. The other version of Parkinson’s is shaking, no mask face. But then Liza's been shaking since 1979.

by Anonymousreply 51November 1, 2019 6:23 PM

She looks exactly like her mother looked. In 1969.

by Anonymousreply 52November 1, 2019 6:28 PM
Hasn't had any work done??

Well, lately.. it was early, hadn't had my first coffee.

by Anonymousreply 53November 1, 2019 6:38 PM

Then I definitely have Parskinshuns. What'sch coke good for becaush I definitely have that too!

by Anonymousreply 54November 1, 2019 6:40 PM

Nightmare material, R36!

by Anonymousreply 55November 1, 2019 6:58 PM

The burning question here: How did you get that Instagram clip to embed?

by Anonymousreply 56November 1, 2019 7:24 PM

I actually thought her voice was stronger than I expected. I love Liza.

by Anonymousreply 57November 1, 2019 7:41 PM
She needs to smoke some marijuana.

by Anonymousreply 70November 1, 2019 8:36 PM

R70, and Jackson actually has the nerve to wear an expression that says, "Can you believe these freaks? Me neither!"

by Anonymousreply 75November 1, 2019 9:21 PM

Her auction catalogue was breathtaking. Liza amassed a good deal of quality stuff. A lot of art (she had several Warhol's in addition to other pieces) as well as a treasure trove of Hollywood stuff. She must have gotten Vincente's stuff after she passed, because she an extensive collection of his things.

Liza's a mess, but she (or her advisors) knew damn well how to save for a rainy day.

by Anonymousreply 76November 1, 2019 9:31 PM

Remember when she had brain disease and almost died?!?

by Anonymousreply 81November 2, 2019 1:20 AM

"In good lighting and make up and rest, I'm sure she can still look fabulous."

THAT'S WHAT SHE HAS in this video, R65.

by Anonymousreply 82November 2, 2019 1:26 AM

Datalounge: Sad last days.

Hey, I had to. It has become a very tired and overused affectation on threads here, which means that it will only increase in frequency.

by Anonymousreply 83November 2, 2019 1:27 AM

Is she dead yet?

by Anonymousreply 84November 2, 2019 2:00 AM

Where is she living? Didn't she sell her apartment in Imperial House?

by Anonymousreply 85November 2, 2019 2:00 AM

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 86November 2, 2019 2:06 AM

She definitely is struggling with some kind of illness, which I note that the "insider" we had who kept saying she was just sick from years of partying never mentioned. That's not from years of partying, that's something like Parkinsons.

by Anonymousreply 87November 2, 2019 2:08 AM

I honestly think the encephalitis caused brain damage, coupled with the alcoholism and whatever mental illness she inherited from her mother. The rumour of HIV. Poor Liza, she's got shit genes, she had a terrible childhood, bad relationships/marriages, couldn't have children. illnesses etc. yet you won't hear a word of self pity or negativity come out of her mouth, she's always 'swell'. Good for her.

by Anonymousreply 88November 2, 2019 2:14 AM

"couldn't have children"

THANK GOD!

by Anonymousreply 89November 2, 2019 2:25 AM
Poor Liza, she's got shit genes,

Vincente Minnelli was a chain-smoker and lived well into his 80s.

by Anonymousreply 90November 2, 2019 2:26 AM

She's heading into "I like blue" territory.

by Anonymousreply 91November 2, 2019 2:53 AM

oh dear r90, you forgot to mention her other parent, that trainwreck of a woman DataLounge puts on a pedestal and worships, the mentally ill addict who died at 47, looking 87 in 1969, her name escapes me....

by Anonymousreply 92November 2, 2019 2:55 AM

r92 just saying that her genes from her father are pretty good. We get 50% from each parent. The fact that Liza is still kicking at 73 must mean she favors Vincente.

by Anonymousreply 93November 2, 2019 3:04 AM

Lots of great talents were mentally ill addicts. It's the schlocky no-talents who tend to be somewhat stable.

by Anonymousreply 94November 2, 2019 3:05 AM

R80 That's also the church where Lucille Ball married Gary Morton.

by Anonymousreply 95November 2, 2019 3:06 AM

It's also the church where Trump married Marla Maples.

Yuck.

by Anonymousreply 96November 2, 2019 3:49 AM

She's a female Keith Richards. When she dies there's no need to embalm her because she has enough alcohol and chemicals in her system to preserve her for centuries. She'll still look exactly the same when alien archeologists dig her up in the future like one of those dead incorrupt nuns/saints on display in those medieval European Catholic churches/cathedrals.

by Anonymousreply 97November 2, 2019 4:06 AM

r97 Judy would have been the same when they dug her up last year

by Anonymousreply 98November 2, 2019 4:15 AM

She seems fine too me. She's still cooky crazy Liza. The woman is 73....what's she suppose to look like, a supermodel? If she was ill, she wouldn't be recorded. Love me some Liza!

by Anonymousreply 99November 2, 2019 4:20 AM

Parkinson's and those others are linked to cocaine and stimulant use. Hopefully Trump is next.

by Anonymousreply 100November 2, 2019 4:23 AM

It's been established that she has brain disease. I'm not a scientist, but that sounds pretty serious to me.

by Anonymousreply 101November 2, 2019 4:29 AM

Feinstein is so creepy. He had posted a video of Liza months ago singing with him but it was basically him singing and prompting her every few words.

by Anonymousreply 102November 2, 2019 4:29 AM

Does anyone know what was wrong with Liza here? This is not normal behavior.

by Anonymousreply 105November 2, 2019 4:45 AM

by Anonymousreply 106November 2, 2019 4:46 AM

I predicted last January that she wouldn't make it to the end of the year.

Okay, well maybe next year.

by Anonymousreply 107November 2, 2019 4:51 AM

R82, plus, she's got her forehead pulled tight and taped under her wig.

Reminds me of Mary Tyler Moore, who for the last 15-20 years of her life was an unrecognizable little old lady...unless she had to make an appearance, then she'd go into makeup looking 95, and come out looking 55-60.

by Anonymousreply 108November 2, 2019 4:54 AM

I don't trust Feinstein. He likes to suck the blood of those who are about to depart this world.

by Anonymousreply 109November 2, 2019 4:55 AM

Makes me sad. I just loved her in Arrested Development.

by Anonymousreply 110November 2, 2019 4:55 AM
She looks exactly like her mother looked…

…when [italic] she [/italic] was 73.

by Anonymousreply 111November 2, 2019 5:04 AM

Truer words R61.

by Anonymousreply 112November 2, 2019 5:54 AM

She looks like Carol Burnett's take on Norma Desmond. Liza is a parody of a parody. A ridiculous woman. She's not an innocent. She's aggressively needy and willfully delusional. Feinstein is going to get her money, you can be sure. David Guest helped Liza too. She always needs help. Only gay men are willing. There's something pathetic and repulsive about her. I don't get the old time DL posters affection for her at all. At least her mother was talented.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 113November 2, 2019 6:01 AM

Just because you think she's repulsive doesn't mean she is.

by Anonymousreply 114November 2, 2019 6:08 AM

Fair enough, R113 and R114. I accept what you both say.

by Anonymousreply 115November 2, 2019 6:14 AM
just saying that her genes from her father are pretty good. We get 50% from each parent. The fact that Liza is still kicking at 73 must mean she favors Vincente.

We don't know that. If Judy had not been a drug addict, she may have lived into her 80s/90s.

by Anonymousreply 117November 2, 2019 2:26 PM

"Vincente Minnelli was a chain-smoker and lived well into his 80s"

Yeah, but he was wheelchair bound and had Alzheimer's.

by Anonymousreply 118November 2, 2019 2:43 PM

R118 .... and he was a vacuous airhead who ruined 'Gigi'

by Anonymousreply 119November 2, 2019 10:44 PM

I always thought Minnelli was overrated as a director; his films (even Meet Me in St. Louis) all leave me cold. They're nice to look at (thanks to the garish 3-strip technicolor) but they just feel so impersonal and somewhat dull.

by Anonymousreply 120November 2, 2019 11:04 PM

He spent three half-pages of his autobiography discussing fabrics, thread texture and the interplay of Lemon Yellow and Tangerine Green.

by Anonymousreply 121November 2, 2019 11:55 PM

r64- Those Net Worth websites are wrong. I don't think Liza has 50 million. Those sites say I have a lot more money than I do.

by Anonymousreply 131November 3, 2019 5:29 AM

I wouldn't take any notice of those sites

by Anonymousreply 132November 3, 2019 5:35 AM

The tall guy dancing with Liza in that Hollywood Palace clip is Robert Fitch, the original Rooster Hannigan from "Annie" on Broadway.

by Anonymousreply 133November 3, 2019 5:38 AM

If she sold her Warhols then yes, she's probably worth $50M. She was asking for $40M for them a few years ago but I don't think we know for sure if she actually sold them or not. She made $8M when she sold her UES place in 2015 and over $1M from the estate auction last year.

She also has turned one LA property into a rental so she's got income from that. I think she's probably doing pretty well.

by Anonymousreply 134November 3, 2019 8:29 AM

Who receives royalties from Judy's recordings, etc.?

There is something that isn't right. Either she has suffered neurological damage from the drugs she took (doubtful, or we'd have seen it earlier wouldn't we?) or she is showing the symptoms of a degenerative disease which she has not revealed. I adore Liza and I wish her the best.

by Anonymousreply 137November 3, 2019 10:02 AM

it is drugs and always has been

by Anonymousreply 138November 3, 2019 10:13 AM

Feinstein isn't exactly Dorian Gray either.

by Anonymousreply 139November 3, 2019 12:04 PM

So the last time you heard Lisa speak was 1980 what? She seems the same as she has been for decades, actually a tad more coherent.

by Anonymousreply 140November 3, 2019 1:58 PM

I say she has under $12 and is prevented from laying a hand on it.

by Anonymousreply 141November 3, 2019 2:12 PM

R139 it appears as if he has been embalmed.

by Anonymousreply 142November 3, 2019 2:18 PM

Rumor is that Feinstein got Liza to sign over her estate to him. Since she has no children, she agreed. He gives her monthly allowances. He promised he would create a scholarship in her name when she passes, but he has told his friends he’s keeping the money.

by Anonymousreply 143November 3, 2019 2:47 PM

Lorna and Joey won't get anything? They sure could use the money.

by Anonymousreply 144November 3, 2019 2:48 PM

What happened to Billy Stritch? Liza and him used to be really tight.

by Anonymousreply 145November 3, 2019 2:52 PM

"Lorna and Joey won't get anything?"

IT'S IN TRUST. All of it is in trust.

by Anonymousreply 146November 3, 2019 3:42 PM
IT'S IN TRUST. All of it is in trust.

We call it that because that's what she always said, "Trump Mama, Liza, I'll pay the hotel bill! Trust Mama, Joey, I wasn't drinking when I was pregnant with you! Trust Mama, Lorna, I haven't taken a thing!"

by Anonymousreply 147November 3, 2019 3:49 PM

Liza has no kids, so does it matter who gets most of her money when she goes? She and Lorna have always had issues, and Lorna should be okay financially after decades of performing herself (even if most of her ventures were c-list). I think a trust is already set up for poor, dim Joey, who also doesn't have children to worry about. If this Feinstein takes good care of Liza and makes her happy in her last years, he may as well get the cash.

by Anonymousreply 148November 3, 2019 4:00 PM

I can't picture Lorna allowing Feinstein just to waltz in and collect the money. First of all, doesn't he have a lot of money himself, between his nightclub and recording career?

Lorna and Liza were on Mickey Deans like white on rice when honed in on Judy. Even if Liza is charmed, Lorna can spot a bullshit artist a mile away. She's going to make sure that Joey is well taken care of first and foremost and that the money is doled out fairly.

by Anonymousreply 149November 3, 2019 4:39 PM

Liza has plenty of money to last her for the rest of her life, although she can't live extravagantly. There's not much she can do anyway with her limited mobility. She's probably content at this point to sit in her nice apartment and watch TV and have friends over for dinner and conversation. She burned her candle at both ends for decades, so she's had her fun.

Barbra Streisand probably makes more with the annual interest on her money than Liza's total net worth.

by Anonymousreply 150November 3, 2019 4:45 PM

Sad.

by Anonymousreply 151November 3, 2019 4:49 PM

That's assuming, R149, that Lorna outlives Liza. Given Lorna's serious, recurring breast cancer, that is not guaranteed.

by Anonymousreply 152November 3, 2019 4:51 PM

"There's not much she can do anyway with her limited mobility..."

She needs lots of $$$ to keep her in Marlboros, Grey Goose and Grand Marnier.

I don't think it would necessarily be unfair if Liza left most of her money to non-relatives. It's one thing to disinherit children, quite another to disinherit siblings who are themselves senior citizens. I do think Joey should be taken care of, but I believe financial arrangements have been in place for him for years.

by Anonymousreply 155November 3, 2019 5:02 PM

You have no idea how much money Liza has nor what she can spend. You also don’t know the extent of her mobility.
I don't trust Feinstein. He likes to suck the blood of those who are about to depart this world.

Who else has he done this to? I haven’t heard anything about him in ages.

by Anonymousreply 157November 3, 2019 6:56 PM

My partner is part of Liza’s financial planning team. I went with him to have her sign some documents and met her. She was so gracious and warm to me. She did ask her chef to bring her a Cape Cod (it was 2:00pm on a Tuesday.) We declined her offer of an alcoholic drink but had lemon mineral water. She asked her chef for a second cocktail before we left. She didn’t appear drunk, but there were some motor skills that were off somewhat. Reminded me of a man I know with Parkinson’s. We were invited to her Christmas party in December, and I will definitely be going!!

by Anonymousreply 158November 3, 2019 6:57 PM

I certainly do. However, anyone making definitive claims about her finances and her health clearly does not.

by Anonymousreply 161November 3, 2019 8:30 PM

R137 Michael Feinstein was sucking blood at the deathbed of Ira Gershwin as well as at the deathbed of Gershwin's next-door neighbor, Rosemary Clooney.

by Anonymousreply 162November 3, 2019 8:48 PM

It keeps Feinstein young when he sucks the blood of his elderly dying friends.

by Anonymousreply 163November 3, 2019 9:19 PM

Well, I hope for Feinstein that Liza's sad last days will last less than my own 20 years (and counting) of sad last days.

by Anonymousreply 166November 4, 2019 1:20 AM

Seeing her in that interview with Feinstein reminds me of people I know who are on massive amounts of pain meds. They're a bit fluttery and speak tremulously. If that's her case, it's remarkable that she's even conscious.

by Anonymousreply 167November 4, 2019 1:49 AM

Most people except few DL regulars have never heard about Mrs. Feinstein. This is a rotten attempt to get some underserved recognition. Shame on you!!! It's clearly obvious that Liza Minnelli should be left alone at this point of her life. Many will still remember her, explicetly due to her own acomplimshments ,without some old queen pushing her corpse for a tiny bit of publicity.

Yes, but are you HER doctor and financial advisor?

by Anonymousreply 173November 4, 2019 8:07 AM

"It's clearly obvious that Liza Minnelli should be left alone at this point of her life."

Do you know Liza? On her deathbed she'll be trying to croak out a song and kick her leg, she lives for that crap. Someone must be there to tell her how good she looks and sounds and she believes every word. Liza clearly not ambulatory, which tells me she never put in the work to get back on her feet...or are drugs and alcohol the reason? It's extremely common for people in their sixties and seventies to have knee and hip replacements, and they don't end up in wheelchairs.

Liza has had great difficulty staying on the wagon, now that her public appearances are rare and far between I wonder what the true situation is. Pain killers, I'm sure, cigarettes, yes. During the video was there a drink or coffee with 36 sugars?

by Anonymousreply 174November 4, 2019 12:08 PM
which tells me she never put in the work to get back on her feet

Not everything wrong with the human body can be fixed as long as you "put in the work!" She's been struggling with walking for quite some time and in public appearances over the last several years has done pretty well, only to be seen a month later in a wheelchair. Then a year later she's back on her feet. Clearly this is an issue that can (or could) be temporarily overcome and eventually that changes and you can't power through it anymore.

Liza was intentionally doing that thing with her face and was rather funny in the video. So silly to count her out.

Ms. Feinstein, however. Tsk tsk tsk.

Makes Barry Manilow's marshmallow-under-raw-yeasty-bread-dough look seem naturel.

by Anonymousreply 182November 5, 2019 3:29 AM

Hasn't she been having last days for about five years now. She's strong enough to tell Renee to piss off. Good for her. Will always remember her with Dudley Moore.

by Anonymousreply 183November 5, 2019 3:57 AM

What I wouldn't give for Liza to write her autobiography. You'd think she'd want to set the record straight on a few things. But I don't think she ever will.

by Anonymousreply 184November 5, 2019 5:49 AM

Set the record straight? If Liza ever did write an autobiography, it would be a puff piece from start to finish. Reality and Liza don't have more than a nodding acquaintance.

by Anonymousreply 185November 5, 2019 7:43 AM

Being strung up in a sling at Studio 54 for 5 nights a week for years would give you bad hips and knees. And HIV

by Anonymousreply 186November 5, 2019 9:58 AM

"Not everything wrong with the human body can be fixed as long as you "put in the work!"

I didn't use the explanation point, you did to reinterpret what I wrote your way, R175. And Liza is never "back on her feet" without holding on to other people. The "work" is physical therapy. It takes effort and commitment to get back on your feet after any operation, and sometimes it's painful. I've been there. Liza's history of boozing and drug use, falling on and off the wagon, combined with her inability to permanently get back on her feet - makes me question her commitment to putting in the hard work. Liza could have a severe heart and/or lung condition with all that smoking, but we don't know that.

R185, I totally agree. I don't think Liza even knows the truth, she's too busy trying to act "swell."

by Anonymousreply 187November 5, 2019 1:17 PM

It wasn't a reinterpretation, R187, it's the proper way to punctuate what I said. The exclamation mark doesn't go outside the quotation marks. If you're complaining that I should have rewritten it so that your quote of "put in the work" didn't appear at the end of the sentence, I'd like to remind you that this is Datalounge, not your homework due by Friday. It's a casual forum and I won't put in extra effort on a reply just to keep your prissy ass from complaining, mostly because you're the sort who will complain about anything, all the time, without question, and always with high indignation and the air of a victim.

You said you could tell she never put in the work to get back on her feet. Now you're walking it back, saying you merely question whether she was committed to rehabilitation.

Either way, my point stands: not everything can be fixed if you just put in the work, as you put it. Your own personal experience with physical therapy has absolutely no bearing on the situation and it's embarrassing that you don't realize that.

by Anonymousreply 188November 5, 2019 1:35 PM

What’s this bullshit about her not putting in the work? Such a poor choice of words. This woman has an EGOT and has been working since she was a kid. She’s put in enough work for a few lifetimes. Deeming everything “swell” also takes work. She chooses to look for the good.

by Anonymousreply 192November 5, 2019 3:40 PM

Liza has the right to keep her own secrets, but I would love to read her autobiography. There would be at least three decades of amazing dish in it.

by Anonymousreply 193November 5, 2019 3:47 PM

It would be an amazing read, only if she detailed doing lines of cocaine off of Mick Jagger’s dick at Studio 54, getting black out drunk at Sonny & Cher’s annual Halloween party, walking in on her mother Judy about to choke on her own vomit after taking a bottle of downers and reviving her by throwing her in an ice-cold shower, having a menajatrois with Donny and Marie Osmond, and getting fucked on a yacht off the coast of France to the South of France by Warren Beatty. Now that, I would read.

by Anonymousreply 194November 5, 2019 4:20 PM

An HONEST tell all book would net her millions. She could open a HIV/AIDS foundation in her name to carry on her legacy. She doesn’t have children so that makes the most sense of what to do with her cash.

by Anonymousreply 195November 5, 2019 4:43 PM

"having a menajatrois with Donny and Marie Osmond"

That made me snort coffee out my nose.

by Anonymousreply 196November 5, 2019 4:49 PM

The shit she saw at Studio 54 alone would fill a book . Can you imagine all the other shit she saw in Hollywood ??? It would be an enormous best seller !

by Anonymousreply 207November 5, 2019 9:34 PM

Well I was in Studio 54 on many nights when Liza was there- and downstairs as well. She did not see any behavior that many of us did not see and even participate in (sex, drugs etc)- and it was much more debauched at the Saint than Studio- or rather on a much larger scale. And yes lots of celebrities at the Saint as well- and Flamingo, and 12 West, and Paradise Garage, etc etc. back in the day.

I was not one for sex in clubs beyond a little dirty dancing and making out- I was there for the music, the dancing, the energy, and or course often aided and abetted by chemicals- which for the most part was fun and did not get the better of me.

I really don't care about the sex, drugs and whatever, but she is a part of my cultural background and I am greatful for that.

by Anonymousreply 215November 14, 2019 6:21 AM

More sad than Liza's last days is the life of a Datalunge member who will in his/her lifetime never achieve what she had acomplished in just one year!

by Anonymousreply 216November 14, 2019 6:34 AM

The really sad thing about Liza is that no man ever truly loved her. They only wanted something from her.

by Anonymousreply 217November 14, 2019 7:46 PM

I'm glad Feinstein has stepped in to take care if her. She obviously needs care, not to mention the fact that even when she was healthy she was such a target for con men and shysters. I think his heart is in the right place. He doesnt want her to end up in the hands of some low life abuser who will bleed her dry of whatever money she might still have.

by Anonymousreply 224November 14, 2019 9:44 PM

Years ago at the Gianfranco Ferre Charity fashion show for APLA at the Century City Hotel circa 95-96. I was working media and put on the kitchen door into the room being used for press. I was told to open it when they knocked. The kitchen was deserted and dark. Suddenly, a couple appeared down the aisle coming towards me. A fat guy and a woman with a cane. As they got closer, I saw it was Liza and Ferre. Alone. No handlers, just them. Liza was hobbling due to a recent operation and I remember the silver wolf head on the black cane which was wrapped in a piece of fabric which her outfit was made from. A cane which I later bought 20 years later, but it arrived broken and couldn't be repaired.

I stood not three feet from them facing me. I watched as slowly the old lady, from her feet to knees to hips to shoulders began to straighten and when she tossed back her head, "LIZA" was here. At that moment, they knocked on the door, I opened and the pair went in to face the reporters. About ten minutes later, they knocked again, I opened the door and they came into the kitchen. Once I shut the door, "LIZA!" disappeared and headed down the aisle back to wherever it was they came from with her hobbling more than she had going into the room.

Not one word was spoken the entire time. It was amazing.

by Anonymousreply 225November 15, 2019 12:17 AM

It’s so bizarre Feinstein is with all these old gay icons in their last days. You can tell he doesn’t give a shit about the ladies, he just looks into the camera and gloats. It’s as if he’s saying “I’M here and you’re not, all you jealous homos!”

by Anonymousreply 229November 16, 2019 12:40 PM

"But that's the price one pays for all the heavy drug use"

I think she was drunkish/drugged during R225's event. She never stopped using, and was in and out of rehab long after the well publicized 1980s stint in Betty Ford. I have no doubt to this very day Liza is smoking and drinking, and on pain meds for her various ailments/post op discomfort (even if the op was 20 years ago).
