The Josh & Reeve scene was a big highlight, but people were disappointed that the writers didn't keep that storyline going.

This is the first time I'm watching this series, R26.

R27, I watched all 3 seasons, although it's been a few years.

But I remember Dorian was portrayed as dominant and controlling, and with an interest in men & women and wanting to try it all.

So he had Josh Hartnett in Season 1, as well as Eva Green. And then in Season 2 he moved on to the transvestite shown in the scenes above.

In Season 3 I think he ended up with Billie Piper.

Those are two absolutely gorgeous men at R28.

I just watched the "Possession" episode, and while Ms. Ives was possessed, she asked Ethan "Did he fuck you or did you fuck him??" And then she answered herself with "Oh, he fucked YOU!"

I can't believe that they made Ethan a bottom, and Dorian a top. As if!

The showrunner had a perverse obsession with not giving the audience what they anticipated.

R21 - Victoria Justice, Ashley Greene, Jennifer Damiano & Lisa Origliasso

Ethan so beefy and hunky, Dorian so beautiful and slender. I love the idea of him fucking Ethan’s beefy ass, after arching Ethan plow that woman hard in the first episode. It shows the sensual power Dorian has over others. I think I melted and evaporated into thin air when I saw that intense kiss on my first viewing of the series. I do wonder what Reeve’s story is? Someone that beautiful has to be getting it somewhere. Besides that homoerotic interlude, I love the entire show. The aesthetics, production values, genuinely creepy, Victorian London, and the amazing Vanessa Ives. I always want great shows to end promptly without being run into the ground, but they ended this one a season too soon.

Often they drag shows out too long, but this one probably could have gone a 4th season. There was plenty of gothic & Victorian literature left to explore, and some of the characters could have been examined further.

Would have been good to see some more follow up on the relationships between Dorian & Ethan, and Dorian & Miss Ives. And Patti LuPone was also starting to make things interesting.

I forgot to mention Patti, R61. Her two episodes as the Cutwife and Psychiatrist were my favorite of the series. They were the perfect vehicle for Patti— the bitch can actually act while still towing the camp line. Great background for Miss Ives.

The first two seasons are great. The third was a letdown. The Dracula storyline was not as interesting as it could have been. The Lily-Dorian-Dr. Frankenstein triangle was very tiresome, especially the Lily girl power part of it. Ethan's storyline of going back to the old West in the USA, where his origin story was revealed, was not that interesting either. Worst of all, these storylines split all the characters up in different locations so they couldn't really interact. I'm not sure why they did that.

The fourth episode of the third season, A Blade of Grass, where Vanessa is hypnotized to remember her time at the sanitarium, is the best of the season. It's one of those stand-alone episodes that flashes back like the Cutwife episode from Season 2.

Yes, I thought the last season really suffered from having too much crammed in. A slower burn would have worked better for me.

And the new characters did not make up for the lack of the delightful Mr. Lyle. It was charming how he was instantly smitten with Ethan, and how Ethan didn't mind one bit.

I remember after the episode in which Dorian and Ethan got it on, some people were convinced Dorian had some kind of supernatural seduction powers. Because they thought that was the only possible way Ethan would get into bed with him. That reaction reminded me of what Susan Sarandon said about her sex scene in The Hunger: that no one, regardless of their prior sexual history, would turn down a night with Catherine Deneuve.
