As some of these pics attest, if anything, social media provides an even wider canvas on which to display these manufactured (and fraudulent) images. Actors lie for a living, and playing a character--a heterosexual character desperately in love with the model/escort/wanna-be beard--is second nature to them.
I think it's the non-actors: athletes, politicians, monarchs, etc. who have a much tougher time faking it on social media.
