Intro To Bosom Buddies?

So they directly state that it’s in New York City at the beginning, yet most of the outdoor shots are clearly done in L.A. with a few intercuts of the New York backlot for effect, did they really think we wouldn’t notice? And what was with showcasing Peter Scolari’s meaty sexy thighs all about? And those are some pretty buff arms and chest he has too, were they throwing a bone to the gays?

Your average joe sitting watching a sitcom in flyoverland wouldn't be that familiar with New York to tell the difference.

I wasn’t allowed to watch this show. It was supposedly sacreligious, per my (minister) father.

There’s already been a thread on this OP. Would it have killed you to have done a search first before you posted this? I mean really? What’s wrong with having a little consideration for others and doing a search first? Would it really have been that hard? Would it?

Wow, this must have cost bucks to make, its nearly perfect. Funny thing is they use the same parks and it’s palm trees for days, that can not be ignored.

They really do show off Peter Scolari's body in that intro.

Escandalo!

The summer premiered in 1980, which was a weird moment in American cultural history when homoeroticism was absolutely dominant in popular culture. So I am sure Peter Scolari's muscular bare thighs and both men's bare chests were an intentional sop to that aesthetic. I certainly appreciated it as a closeting gayling at age 13 back then.

I remember when the series premiered it was absolutely excoriated by the reviewers as somehow sleazy (this was just two years or so before [italic]Tootsie[/italic] was released, which by contrast no one complained was sleazy). I remember being young and thinking it was entirely innocent, and could not figure out what the complaining was about.

It should have lasted longer because it had an absolutely great cast except for the talentless (but stunning) Donna Dixon: not only were Hanks and Scolari hilarious, but they had Wendie Jo Sperber (who had carried the earlier comedic film [italic]I Wanna Hold Your hand,[/italic] and was very appealing and likable), Telma Hopkins (who was never funnier), and the superb comedy veterans Lucille Benson and Holland Taylor.

Peter's ass was the best part of the intro.

I watched this show and enjoyed it, particularly the second season which was funny and edgy. Loved looking at Peter Scolari's hot body. There were a number of shows that used this device of showing hot guys without their clothes in the opening credits, hoping you would just might tune in for the rest of the show. The Dukes of Hazzard (Tom Wopat and John Schnieder), Trapper John MD (Gregory Harrison), and Dallas (Patrick Duffy) come to mind.

Peter Scolari was hot as fuck.

I only saw a couple of episodes, but agree Wendie Jo Sperber was very funny. She's actually alI I remember from the show.
