He was so meh. “Footloose” played on the car radio today and it’s such a cheesy song.
A friend of mine was in a band with him recently - a folk/rock trio -- and she said he is a super nice guy, and he still works very hard. I loved Loggins and Messina in their day, but his solo stuff was always too twee and commercial for my taste.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | October 27, 2019 1:28 AM |
His music is a lot more complex and interesting than it needs to be. He’s far from “boring.”
I assume that Loggins haters are fans of Taylor Swift and Beiber.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | October 27, 2019 1:32 AM |
He was lucky in that his fluffy solo stuff was a perfect fit for Eighties "party" movies.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | October 27, 2019 1:32 AM |
he had good management and went for a commercial career...if he invested well, i imagine he's glad he did.. He can play comfortable venues , draw a crowd and play more varied setlists than just his hits...... having said that, i don't think i'd ever go see him. he did some children's albums, that seems who he is at heart somehow...
by Anonymous | reply 5 | October 27, 2019 1:51 AM |
Why did he have a career?
R3 is correct. Danger Zone and Footloose both have about 3 massive hooks. That’s why.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | October 27, 2019 1:54 AM |
He had one of the best voices in music for nearly 2 decades and wrote super catchy pop songs.
Go listen to autotune, you fuckhead.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | October 27, 2019 1:55 AM |
He was also a very successful crossover artist; his first solo hit, "This Is It", got heavy airplay on the "Urban Contemporary" radio stations. And "Love Will Follow" is a "smooth jazz" classic that's still being played today.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | October 27, 2019 2:07 AM |
Perfect music for gyms and dance routines. Energetic and fun. Love him.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | October 27, 2019 2:11 AM |
didn’t hurt he was cute as heck
by Anonymous | reply 11 | October 27, 2019 2:22 AM |
The DJ at The Lost & Found (L&F) in Washington DC was a friend of mine. I did a blind test with him one night playing an extended version of 'Love Will Follow', not telling him who the artist was. I knew if he knew it was Kenny Loggins he'd probably not listen to it and if he did listen would probably reflexively hate it.
He LOVED it. Then I told him who it was singing - he was aghast - and he put "Love Will Follow' not only into his morning music rotation, but often started the night playing it as the first song.
I loved spinning around on the floor in the dark to that song.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 27, 2019 2:29 AM |
He needs to leave the plastic surgery alone, but Kenny is still a hell of a singer and performer. OP’s question is stupid.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | October 27, 2019 2:39 AM |
Did you see the thread "Only the best 70s music"? That's how Kenny Loggins had career. Eighty percent of the list is meh.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 27, 2019 2:40 AM |
My mom liked him back in the day.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | October 27, 2019 3:36 AM |
He was good in the 70s, both by himself and as part of Loggins and Messina.
But he wrote some terrible shit in the 80s. It's called Making The Mortgage Payments.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | October 27, 2019 3:37 AM |
He got one of those too-tight facelifts, and now looks Asian.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | October 27, 2019 3:44 AM |
He had a lovely falsetto. "This Is It" was a significant hit on R&B radio, so he established crossover appeal early in his career. I can't explain "Footloose" -- it's awful. Although the very worst song Deniece Williams ever recorded was "Let's Hear It For The Boy" and it is her biggest solo hit (No.1 Pop and R&B) and it's on the same "Footloose" soundtrack.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | October 27, 2019 3:46 AM |
This Is It was great. And he did a song with Steve Perry that was fun, too.
But then there was "Heartlight" and "Heart To Heart" which was some serious schmaltz, and then Footloose (ugh) and his songs for Over the Top and Top Gun (double ugh)
by Anonymous | reply 20 | October 27, 2019 3:49 AM |
However....
I loved the song he did with Michael McDonald and Thundercat.
It's a truly weird video (Thundercat is...well, talented but a bit out there) but the song makes me tear up a little.....
by Anonymous | reply 21 | October 27, 2019 3:53 AM |
Danger Zone was a piece of shit. It made aviator sunglasses forever stupid-looking.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | October 27, 2019 3:53 AM |
Big hit with Stevie before all the soundtrack stuff.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | October 27, 2019 3:54 AM |
R12 We likely passed each other by on the patio at the L&F.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | October 27, 2019 4:46 AM |
Make that three of us, r24.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | October 27, 2019 5:28 AM |
This song didn't suck. Not too much, anyway.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 27, 2019 5:33 AM |
He was cute, but not as cute as Michael McDonald.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | October 27, 2019 5:38 AM |
^ Gorgeous.
Kenny was skinny; I could only find one mild erotic shirtless picture.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | October 27, 2019 6:21 AM |
....
by Anonymous | reply 30 | October 27, 2019 8:40 AM |
For holidays, funerals or just missing someone; this one is a classic with Bob James.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | October 27, 2019 9:51 AM |
His other Top 10 hit that wasn't Footloose or I'm Alright. God, it's sooo cheesy. Yes I remember when it was released, yeah I'm old but this song still sucks
by Anonymous | reply 32 | October 27, 2019 11:38 AM |
Does Kenneth have a weak chin and that's why he has worn a beard professionally for his entire run?
And where's that shirtless shot?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | October 27, 2019 11:50 AM |
That was the one I was waiting for, R23. I had the 45.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | October 27, 2019 1:08 PM |
R35 Me too. I'm sure I played it 100 times, and never flipped it over to play the B side, "Angelique".
by Anonymous | reply 36 | October 27, 2019 2:24 PM |
It is much more difficult to have a good song because you wrote it for a movie tie in, and Loggins did a lot of music for movies but you have to judge his entire catalogue of music and he had some great songs, moving and rememberable.
As difficult as it is to do music tied to a movie, anyone else would probably have come up with even more shitty songs than Loggins did. Be thankful they went with Loggins and not someone else.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | October 27, 2019 2:44 PM |
R31, "Celebrate Me Home" is one of my Holiday favorites. There's that lovely falsetto again.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | October 27, 2019 5:24 PM |
I think OP has been irrefutably proven to be a dumb ass.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | October 27, 2019 6:16 PM |
I’ve been listening to him lately after never really having paid attention to him before and he actually has a lot of good songs in his catalog.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | August 1, 2020 2:36 AM |
He made femme mainstream!
by Anonymous | reply 42 | August 1, 2020 2:38 AM |
I love him.. I have every album he’s ever done. Did an aol fan chat with him in the 1990’s, and paid him a compliment. He thanked me by name..
by Anonymous | reply 43 | August 1, 2020 3:13 AM |
R43 Have you seen him in concert? I looked at a few of his live performances on YouTube and he seems to sound really good live.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | August 1, 2020 3:17 AM |
He had a career because he made music that was catchy and he was versatile. I didn’t think I liked his music, but had forgotten how many hits he had that have gotten stuck in my head. I hated “Danger Zone”. You know what’s funny? Kids today know “Footloose”! They know the fucking words to a song that was a hit when I was their age.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | August 1, 2020 3:37 AM |
An essential part of the Yacht Rock line up!
by Anonymous | reply 46 | August 1, 2020 4:13 AM |
For the longest time I always thought he was in that film Longtime Companion
by Anonymous | reply 47 | August 1, 2020 4:36 AM |
He has so many great songs that went unnoticed, yet that shitty “Footloose” song is one of his biggest hits.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | August 1, 2020 4:43 AM |
He had/has great hair!
by Anonymous | reply 49 | August 1, 2020 4:50 AM |
I think whatever work he’s has done on his face looks good!
by Anonymous | reply 50 | August 1, 2020 5:02 AM |
Remember, he has a hot son. I think his name is Brodie...or am I thinking of Caitlyn's hot son?
by Anonymous | reply 51 | August 1, 2020 5:11 AM |
R6, Agreed. Danger Zone made Top Gun and boosted military recruiting.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | August 1, 2020 5:17 AM |
Kenny’s son is named Crosby and won some mtv reality music show where he competed with other musical offspring. Then didn’t do anything else and disappeared.
Kenny and Rick Springfield must have the same plastic surgeon.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | August 1, 2020 5:22 AM |
He was handsome.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | August 1, 2020 5:44 AM |
What is Brodie Jenner doing now? I think he's friends with Crosby Loggins.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | August 1, 2020 5:53 AM |
FUN FACT: Kenny is a fan of colonic irrigations and wound up divorcing his wife and marrying his colon therapist, to whom he is still married. When I told a friend this, he replied, "Man, talk about looking for love in all the wrong places!"
by Anonymous | reply 56 | August 1, 2020 6:15 AM |
Lol@ R56!

My favorite Kennys: Chesney, G, Loggins, and Rogers.

He hasn’t been married her for 16 years now. She dumped him in 2004.

Who would have thought someone who had a nude wedding would end up divorced?!

I love his hairy little body. I'd grab him and fuck him but I'd worry about breaking him.

by Anonymous | reply 68 | August 1, 2020 3:35 PM |
Not a huge fan, but I've always liked the Caddyshack song and the song he did with Stevie Nicks.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | August 1, 2020 4:07 PM |
R70 That picture is from 15 years ago when he did that Rock the Cradle show. He was 25 then. What does he look like now at 40?
by Anonymous | reply 71 | August 1, 2020 5:55 PM |
He was a good fit with his time---the end of the era for the catchy pop tune. His voice was better in duets than in solos. Cute but forgettable. I like his stuff with Jim Messina more than the later songs.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | August 1, 2020 6:19 PM |
It’s like Michael Bolton took his career in the late 80’s/early 90’s.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | August 1, 2020 7:21 PM |
Ugh, R18. If he HAD to have plastic surgery, it should have been on those hideous Doberman Pinscher ears. I have always been distracted by them (and not in a good way).
by Anonymous | reply 74 | August 1, 2020 7:59 PM |
R65 Lol
by Anonymous | reply 75 | August 1, 2020 8:02 PM |
R18 "He got one of those too-tight facelifts, and now looks Asian."
Not quite - according to my ex, he looks like an Asian Snow monkey.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | August 1, 2020 8:06 PM |
R74 Yeah, those ears should have been reshaped decades ago.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | August 1, 2020 8:14 PM |
Some of his eighties songs, especially I’m Alright and Don’t Fight It, are crazy infectious and full of energy.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | August 1, 2020 9:31 PM |
I've always loved this song, schmaltzy as it is. Love the added verse he did years later too.

I was surprised to just now realize that Danger Zone was produced by Giorgio Moroder. Sounds nothing like his Donna Summer stuff.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | August 2, 2020 1:23 AM |
Loved Loggins and Messina
Hated Kenny Loggins solo
by Anonymous | reply 84 | August 2, 2020 1:50 AM |
Kenny Loggins and Rod Stewart competed for songs in the last half of the '80s. "Love Touch" was almost recorded by Kenny before Rod snatched it up. Remember that song is from the film Legal Eagles.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | August 2, 2020 1:54 AM |
Moroder also wrote and produced Take My Breath Away, which won the Oscar.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | August 2, 2020 1:55 AM |
Listen to any of his live work and you'll be convinced he is a god.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | August 2, 2020 1:06 PM |
I just figured something out—I'll bet Kenny wrote [italic]Return to Pooh Corner[/italic] after colonic therapy from his wife!
by Anonymous | reply 88 | August 3, 2020 1:23 AM |
He was very handsome although always a bit too thin. He's one of those straight guys that you would swear is gay.
Everything about him just pings and yet - nope. He lives in Santa Barbara and does a lot of charities and local gigs.
His stuff is hit or miss for me.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | August 3, 2020 1:45 AM |
He co-wrote Whenever I Call You A Friend with Melissa Manchester, but the record company insist she be dumped for the single, so they could get the then very hot Stevie circa 1978, hot off Rumours.
by Anonymous | reply 90 | August 3, 2020 1:48 AM |
Kenny Loggins reminds me of Huey Lewis. Similar careers.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | August 3, 2020 1:59 AM |
Huey Lewis was the nadir of 80s schlock pop. Kenny Loggins at least had a few good songs.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | August 3, 2020 2:01 AM |
Was it already posted?
Did I miss it?
Apologies if this is a repeat.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | August 3, 2020 2:07 AM |
He was so hot back in the day.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | August 3, 2020 2:10 AM |
A lot of those 70s guys were hot but they ruined it with the long hair and beards. Lindsey Buckingham, Don Henley etc. They would've been so much hotter with shorter hair and clean shaven.
