Final Destination

A great series of movies. A much watch at Halloween time.

by Anonymousreply 26October 25, 2019 8:01 PM

There was a Final Destination marathon this weekend.

The first installment used to be my favorite, because it was so creepy. It also had my faves Devon Sawa and Sean William Scott.

However, it was overtaken by 2009's "The Final Destination" because I immediately fell in love with the incredibly sexy Bobby Campo. He is so hot in that movie.

My favorites from the series were Ryan Merriman, Nick Zano, and Nicholas D'Agosto. Bobby Campo was really nice too.

MMMMMMM... Bobby Campo.

Fetishing repeated gruesome acts of slaughter isn't my idea of a 'must-watch.' Classic horror, vampires, ghosts, etc., are.

Final Destination killings are just like Friday the 13th, just in a different manner.

by Anonymousreply 5October 23, 2019 3:09 PM

Terrible, unscary snuff movies.

by Anonymousreply 6October 23, 2019 5:59 PM

Wrong, r5.

Friday the 13th had stories, suspense craft, cat and mouse chases and characters who fought back.

Final Destination is just cheap, random torture porn against people who don’t know what hit them and don’t stand a chance.

Only basic bitches who had nothing better to do that day at the mall like those movies.

^ Tsk, the opening of part 2 is excellent

R7 The characters in these films do fight back by trying to break death's design. Each film has it's set of rules and because you're dealing with supernatural forces, the suspension of disbelief is not as great as a zombie who keeps coming back to life. It's also not fair to suggest that these films are torture porn, or are lacking suspense, as the F13 films are all noteworthy for their kills. The Final Destination series, I'd argue, is more suspenseful because you never know how someone is going to die.

Final Destination is clever and a refreshing change from zombies and monsters. It's a waste of time to judge it for killing people. It's a horror movie. What distinguishes it from most slasher films is that it's clearly supernatural, therefore, completely outside the realm of possibility. It's much easier to suspend your disbelief and just take it for what it is. The unfortunate wave of "torture porn" that hit in the mid 2000s (Hostel, for example) were reality-based and depicted human killers reveling in evil. There wasn't much point other than to see how much suffering the audience could stomach. That's not scary to me, nor particularly entertaining. I need interesting writing and a plot-driven story that is about something more than just the filmmakers assuming I'm going to get off listening to screaming and crying for 90 minutes. It's similar to actions films that have to invest in character development and plot rather than 2 hours of explosions and car chases in order to be successful.

It’s boring fighting a faceless, unpredictable enemy.

Zzzzzzzzz

These films are super fun. The one with the rollercoaster is probably my favorite; Mary Elizabeth Winstead sure made a great scream queen and Ryan Merriman was cute as hell (WHET him?!).

#4 is the only one I've never seen because pretty much everyone says it's fucking terrible.

I'd like to see relentlessly tedious OP, R9, R10 take on their Final Destination ... soon.

Are OP, R9, R10 also the freaks who constantly post threads about "hot" serial killers and gruesome murderers? Such people also masturbate to snuff-ish porn. Sick fucks.

Have you watched cutie James A. Janisse review the franchise on his YouTube channel Dead Meat? Dude's attractive, entertaining, and has a genuine appreciation for the horror genre. He focus on the kills, but reviews the narrative and gives context into the film's production... he does his research and creates a pretty cool product. He goes over the entire franchise, devoting an episode to each. They're worth watching.

"Each film has it's set of rules" - R9, who should have a wild electrical wire shock him each time he commits this basic grammar/punctuation error.

by Anonymousreply 15October 23, 2019 9:51 PM

Aww r 13, don't cry too much now. It will be ok, sweetie.

by Anonymousreply 16October 24, 2019 12:52 AM

Go back to your snuff porn, R16. And learn how to type, you necrophiliac.

by Anonymousreply 17October 24, 2019 6:29 AM

I liked Michael Landes, when he was young and before he let himself get old.

by Anonymousreply 18October 24, 2019 6:36 AM

[Quote] Terrible, unscary snuff movies.

I don't see this as a snuff franchise unlike say Saw, Hostel or Human Centipede.

by Anonymousreply 19October 24, 2019 11:15 AM

None of the actors are actually killed during the filming, so we can stop erroneously calling them snuff.

by Anonymousreply 20October 24, 2019 1:37 PM

R18 He still looks good. This clip is fairly recent.

I find the Final Destination films to be some of the most unsettling in all of horror. The premise of these films suggests that death has a specific design, but it's hard to walk away from these films without thinking that death can be totally random and senseless. Even if their is a design, no one could ever hope to understand it.

by Anonymousreply 23October 25, 2019 6:33 PM

You're overthinking them R23.

Hope you don't like 'weepy' movies, you'd go home and kill yourself.

by Anonymousreply 24October 25, 2019 6:54 PM

Jesus Christ that guy is annoying, r14.

by Anonymousreply 25October 25, 2019 7:48 PM

R20 = Aspie jerk who can't comprehend comparisons, alusions, sarcasm, metaphor, analogies or similes. R20 the dumb Aspire is a flatheaded imbecile.
