I never hear of exposes revealing it’s all fake

I recall some of the fights were staged an women wore hair extensions or nets for the hair pulling parts.

by Anonymousreply 1October 22, 2019 12:14 PM

Gee, ya think???

by Anonymousreply 2October 22, 2019 12:15 PM

We have the trashy reality TV and social media culture today, thanks to trashy "talk shows" like Jerry Springer which started in the early nineties.

You can add Murray to the heap of trash shows that got us to where we are today too.

And then there's the Kardashian trash too.

by Anonymousreply 3October 22, 2019 12:23 PM

It wasn't necessarily staged as in totally fake, but the contestants were encouraged to act as crazy as possible.

The wider cultural significance of shows like this contributed to the rise of reality tv., and unfortunately, Donald Trump.

Isn’t Springer gonna have a judge show

by Anonymousreply 5October 22, 2019 12:31 PM

Maury not Murray

by Anonymousreply 6October 22, 2019 12:31 PM

I always knew female audience members would flash their tits to get their "Jerry beads."

The other day I was watching and a guy shouted out he wanted to earn his beads and pulled down his pants and mooned everybody.

And yes, R5, Jerry does have a judge show. It's syndicated, so it probably won't be on at the same time in your market as it is in my market. I have a feeling it may not be around very long, so catch it while it is on. It simply isn't any good and certainly no different than the dozen or so other courtroom shows on.

Of course not, Rose. And neither was pro wrestling.....

by Anonymousreply 8October 22, 2019 3:30 PM

Uh, Rose?

by Anonymousreply 9October 22, 2019 3:32 PM

I went to a taping once and it was the most shameful experience of my life. I needed a shower after. There were some college guys from Rutgers who flashed their dick for beads.

by Anonymousreply 10October 22, 2019 3:37 PM

Pics please?

by Anonymousreply 11October 22, 2019 3:47 PM

I bet the studio that show was filmed in had to be fumigated when it ended.

Good riddance.

by Anonymousreply 12October 22, 2019 3:49 PM

R10 what good is this if you can’t post pics? I mean really? Isn’t that the least you could have done? Why even have bothered?

by Anonymousreply 13October 22, 2019 5:21 PM

Surprise!

A bell rang, women’s wigs started flying and men would punch one another like girls.

by Anonymousreply 15October 29, 2019 11:34 PM

They're all staged.

[quote]Jonathan Schmitz reacts after finding out his secret admirer is Scott Amedure in this image taken from video shown to jurors in Schmitz's first-degree murder trial in Pontiac, Mich., Thursday, Oct. 17, 1996. Prosecutors say that Schmitz was humiliated during a taping of the "Jenny Jones Show," after learning that his secret admirer was another man. Days later, they allege, he shot and killed Amedure. In 1996, Schmitz was found guilty of the murder and sentenced to 25 to 50 years in prison. That verdict, however, was overturned on appeal due to jury selection errors. In 1999, Schmitz was retried. The second jury returned with the same sentence, according to the Los Angeles Times.

I went to a taping in 2009 I think. Shit is sooooooo fake. You go to the stage taping area or whatever eventually and sit in cheap fold out chairs. Jerry comes out. Explains the taping tries to give the crowd energy. Then it starts.. I honestly thought it was rehearsed and the people were actors made to look white trash. I don’t remember what the topic was something to do with cheating. When they would start fighting it would come out of nowhere and was like choreographed and very much held back. The black girl next to me was so pissed. She was like wtf this shit is so fake. So disappointing. Then they do questions from audience, that part is fun because you are just supposed to talk shit to the actors on stage. They told us not to ask questions about some lesbian because they were cutting it into a different show. Then you leave and you can go to like a photo booth to talk about how crazy the Springer show is- and ask if you want to go to a second taping because they need to fill seats because this shit is so disappointing. Nobody would do it twice. Fake. Made me question everything on television.

Some of the comebacks on that show are scripted within an inch of their lives.

by Anonymousreply 18October 29, 2019 11:43 PM

Jerry was on our city council, when he was exposed for paying for a prostitute with a bad check. He was still re-elected, and ended up becoming mayor. He later became a well-liked news anchor, before moving on to his own show. His whole career has been about the unpredictable. I never watched The Jerry Springer Show. You have to be careful how much shit to which you expose yourself.

by Anonymousreply 19October 29, 2019 11:43 PM

Lindsay is by far my favorite. I honestly think she will one day have a huge comeback because she does have that thing that you can’t look away. The last of her has yet to come. She can go either a Downey junior comeback or die in a trailer park route. Coin flip.

Paris is interesting and I like her too. I once spent a day looking at a free version of her Paris exposed website where someone made a website from her storage locker. It was fascinating. Had lots of letters personal photos and vacation videos. Definitely a party girl and a bitch but she owns it.

Brittany. Sad. I feel like everyone feels sorry for her. I hate to say it but she will be dead by 40. It’s something that people can see coming even tho she’s alive right now. I think she’s the one that will die infamous because I think so much about her will come out after death. Like Marilyn Monroe

I love the tranny episodes, and I know this is staged. But I'm sure there are some straight dudes so desperate for pussy they'll overlook the man hands, the Adam's apple, and the 5 o'clock shadow just so they can get off.

And I think R20 made a wrong turn at Albuquerque.

by Anonymousreply 21October 29, 2019 11:53 PM

I worked in strip clubs during college and Jerry Springer showrunners would call looking for strippers to act as guests. They even offered to pay for our tickets to fly. Nobody was that desperate to shame their families by being on that shitfest.

by Anonymousreply 22October 29, 2019 11:56 PM

Well, R22, they did indeed find strippers desperately looking for their 15 minutes of fame, cause every other episode featured strippers. Granted, they were strictly day shift performers, but they were strippers. They were some might hard looking, skinny, tatted, A cup and probably drug addled skanks. NASTAY!

I want to say it was around 97 or so. A throuple I knew went on the show for the free trip to Chicago or wherever. They were your typical twink types, rave kids. One did drag. Their concept was "you dumped me for a drag queen". Two of the guys acted really butch and the other came out in drag and kissed one. They fought, and actually beat each other pretty bad.

They were each picked up separately from the airport by a shady car service, taken to a Days Inn or Holiday Inn or something about 5 miles away from the studio in a really bad part of town. Since they were broke they couldn't afford a cab to go out downtown like they wanted so they just got drunk at the hotel with the other guests. They said the random sex in that hotel was the only good thing about the visit.

According to them everything was staged. They were told if they didn't fight they wouldn't get their plane ticket home. Other guests were told the same thing. They used to show the tape at parties.

by Anonymousreply 24October 30, 2019 12:02 AM

All of those 90's daytime talk shows were totally staged. A good friend of mine, who moved to LA in the mid nineties to become an actor had three areas of "success": game shows, being a soap extra and concocting scenarios to pitch to producers with his other wannabe actor friends to get themselves on Singer, Jones, Lake and the like. They were quite successful at it. Getting hired meant an all expenses paid trip to whatever city the show filmed in: good hotels, limos and free dinners at high end restaurants - in addition to the union minimum appearance fee.
