Some people are actually thinking that Trump could be removed from office

I'll believe it when I see it.

Not before.

Won’t happen. People are deluding themselves.

by Anonymousreply 1October 22, 2019 9:33 AM

Pence needs to go too.

by Anonymousreply 2October 22, 2019 9:41 AM

Not gonna happen. Sorry.

Besides, I’d rather have that idiot than Pence. Trump is motivated by greed and ego, which can be appeased without much harm to our constitution and human rights. Pence is motivated by ideology, and that is much, much worse.

by Anonymousreply 3October 22, 2019 10:24 AM

I want him impeached for the sheer humiliation of it all.

by Anonymousreply 4October 22, 2019 10:31 AM

That would require the Republicants to grow a spine, acquire a conscience, and develop some integrity. Very unlikely to happen.

by Anonymousreply 5October 22, 2019 10:54 AM

At this point Trump could gun down babies in the street and Congress will back him.

by Anonymousreply 6October 22, 2019 11:08 AM

I believe he will be removed from office. I believe when presented in televised open hearings to the American people, were going to see an insurmountable clear case of abuse of power that the Senate will convict.

Sure Jan.

by Anonymousreply 8October 22, 2019 11:21 AM

Most of the top Republicans are as corrupt as Trump and have accepted money from the same sources. They don't want to be exposed so they won't convict or remove him from office because this would bring their dirty deals to the light of day.

by Anonymousreply 9October 22, 2019 11:24 AM

Just because he could be "removed' from office doesn't mean he's actually going to leave.

They'll have to yank him out the way Julian Assange was from the Ecuadorian embassy in London.

by Anonymousreply 10October 22, 2019 1:59 PM

That 50% poll for impeachment and removal from office is not irrelevant. With seemingly nothing, and nobody on the horizon to rehabilitate his image, it’s safe to assume that additional negative disclosures will move the 50% into the 60s. That will leave just his rabid base and confused independents supporting him.

This is a character who was tolerated despite a loathsome personality. A group of the population thought he‘d benefit them, or otherwise affirm their worst traits so they gave him a pass.

Even these individuals begin to get worn down. And this is a classic case of a personality relentlessly wearing down everyone around him.

Think of what the last 10 days before the next election would look like. He’d be at a rally in a straitjacket with an anesthesiologist monitoring him from the side of the stage.

The weirdest thing about this entire debacle is that the whole world is getting the opportunity to see someone completely lose their mind in real time over the course of several years. The people in power who are allowing this to play out are truly despicable.

by Anonymousreply 11October 22, 2019 2:20 PM

McConnell will only push for conviction and removal if he felt his caucus would lose its majority in the upcoming election. I agree that the polls for for impeachment would have to be over 60%.

by Anonymousreply 12October 22, 2019 2:55 PM

Yes. It is possible. String it out a bit more. The cracks will grow. The walls will crumble as the fissures widen. Give time for each GOP politico to see Trump is a liability, and growing.

by Anonymousreply 13October 22, 2019 3:22 PM

Not at this stage. You need to remove his die-hard supporters like Barr and McConnell first and that process will take a very long while. The 2020 election is the fasted way to get rid of him. That is if Putin is prevented from hacking the votes again.

by Anonymousreply 14October 22, 2019 3:25 PM

I think he'll be removed. The Senate Republicans who vote for removal can then run as law-and-order Republicans, lament that Trump broke the law and had to go, and then swear 100% fealty to a President Pence. Once there is a binary choice between a democrat (who will be called a socialist) and President Pence, all will be forgiven.

by Anonymousreply 15October 22, 2019 3:36 PM

He'll 100% be impeached, removal is a 25% chance at best.

by Anonymousreply 16October 22, 2019 3:42 PM

There’s already been a thread for this OP. Would it have killed you to have done a search first before you posted this? I mean really? It’s the least you could have done. Please try to have some consideration for others.

by Anonymousreply 17October 22, 2019 5:01 PM

I think some people misunderstand that impeachment alone doesn't mean Trump is being removed. The Senate has to convict and McConnell is unlikely to do that no matter how damning the evidence.

by Anonymousreply 18October 22, 2019 5:20 PM

I'd prefer continued outrage and Republican betrayal so that voters are motivated in 2020 to vote Dump out as well as his Republican confederates in the Senate. At this point, impeachment is a win for Senate Republicans.

by Anonymousreply 19October 22, 2019 5:41 PM

R19 I think that is the Pelosi strategy.

by Anonymousreply 20October 22, 2019 5:47 PM

R19, if the GOP dumps Trump their voters will be in absolute revolt, and they'll stay home and bitch about it before they'll vote for Pence. The Republicans will be murdered at the voting booth, murdered, burned, and buried in a shallow grave, metaphorically speaking.

by Anonymousreply 21October 22, 2019 5:49 PM

I've watched bits of Trump's recent rallies. He still seemed on top of his game.

But then I caught his interview with Sean Hannity (I know) last night. Whoa!

Trump really did seem like a crazy person. Repeating himself, the anger, the paranoia... he seemed like a crazy person on a subway bench talking to the air. Frightening.

by Anonymousreply 22October 22, 2019 5:51 PM

Apparently Bill Taylor’s 10 hour testimony today is increasing the odds for Twitler’s removal. I think, as many upthread have already noted, that the longer this is drawn out, the more information that comes to light, Hair Furor’s chances of serving out his full term are greatly diminished. 🤞

by Anonymousreply 23October 23, 2019 2:19 AM

The sooner Trump is kicked out of office, the sooner Republicans can recover.

by Anonymousreply 24October 23, 2019 2:39 AM

They're going to have to realize the long-term damage he is doing to their party. Today's whistle-blower testimony and Dump's increasingly erratic comments have them thinking. I don't care how much money he is raising, they are better off with Pence as their 2020 nominee. The Senate just may flip - Moscow Mitch doesn't want that to happen.

by Anonymousreply 25October 23, 2019 2:45 AM

[QUOTE] They're going to have to realize the long-term damage he is doing to their party.

The Republicans thought Nixon was bad for the GOP. They ain't seen nothin' yet.

by Anonymousreply 26October 23, 2019 3:39 AM

still think very unlikely, but a few weeks ago would have thought impossible. Possible seems like a big step up, actually. And the thought will make him even crazier and weirder and more stupid, which in turn will make it even more possible.

by Anonymousreply 27October 23, 2019 4:02 AM

Also, everyone in Maine, continue to yell at La Collins whenever you see her. Apparently it has her rattled and might actually penetrate that thick concerned skull of hers.

by Anonymousreply 28October 23, 2019 4:09 AM

[quote] The sooner Trump is kicked out of office, the sooner Republicans can recover.

Yes but we do not want them to recover in time for the 2020 election. We want him to be shown as a fraud, a nutjob, and a corrupt Russian asset. Then after he is VOTED out of office he can be prosecuted in federal and state court, and the assets of all of his organizations can be seized by the government. The attorney fees alone will bankrupt him.
