I nominate confirmed bachelor Finn Jones. Given a haircut, a shave and a liberal application of hydrogen peroxide to those ruddy tresses and brows, and I reckon he'd look uncannily similar to Tab.
What do you think?

Someone who's actually gay
by Anonymous | reply 3 | October 21, 2019 3:01 AM |
^^ then Finn is your man. He also cannot act like Tab.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | October 21, 2019 3:04 AM |
Oh? When did Finn come out?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | October 21, 2019 3:24 AM |
Finn Wittrock. Beautiful man. Just played Judy Garlands last husband Mickey Deans in "Judy"
by Anonymous | reply 6 | October 21, 2019 3:41 AM |
I agree with OP's choice. Tab had a very wide smile.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | October 21, 2019 4:44 AM |
Naw. We need a square jawed bland blond.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | October 21, 2019 5:45 AM |
Good luck with that.

by Anonymous | reply 11 | October 21, 2019 12:08 PM |
There is no one around who's handsome enough to play Tab Hunter.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 21, 2019 12:13 PM |
R1 - good choice.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | October 21, 2019 8:50 PM |
Hunter Parrish - and not just because of the first name. And he can sing! (Tab recorded some pop songs).

by Anonymous | reply 18 | October 21, 2019 9:54 PM |
I'd rather have a gay unknown than any straight actor
by Anonymous | reply 19 | October 21, 2019 10:00 PM |
Good choice, R15. Get that peroxide on him stat!
Why are all these fucking hets making biographies about gay men?
Zachary Quinto's co-producing it with JJ.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 21, 2019 10:30 PM |
Is there sufficient drama in Arthur Gelien's life?
He was astonishingly beautiful and a charming pop singer. But he was failed actor and not very bright. He moved house every five years and preferred animals to humans.
I can only imagine this working with a great deal of distorting, lies and exaggeration to get any drama.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | October 21, 2019 10:31 PM |
Hunter's def got the body, but he ever played gay before?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | October 21, 2019 10:33 PM |
r24 r25 some random "my straight buddy" model I jacked off to his ass waaay too much and got a friction burn on my dick when the internet was 56k lol
by Anonymous | reply 30 | October 21, 2019 10:37 PM |
Hunter is too short. Chris Zylka, Luke Macfarlane, Sean Keenan, or if you want a bigger build Alan Ritchson or Dylan Bruce.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | October 21, 2019 11:04 PM |
Alan Ritchson, YES!
by Anonymous | reply 34 | October 21, 2019 11:14 PM |
No! Alan Ritchson is too brutish, too Cro-Magnon-looking to play such a pretty thing as Tab.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | October 21, 2019 11:20 PM |

Great choice. And he’s gay too.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | October 21, 2019 11:24 PM |
Another vote for Alan Ritchson. He can sing.
Though I wish Hollywood would make a biopic on a gay actor who deserves it, like William Haines. His story is Oscar worthy, though it would absolutely make closet cases like Tom Cruise and Jake Gyllenhaal reel with embarrassment.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | October 21, 2019 11:32 PM |
DL... DL... DL...
How could I have been the first to post DL Fave Chandler Massey.
The guy looks the part and he can act. He would be el perfecto!
by Anonymous | reply 39 | October 21, 2019 11:32 PM |
Tab was about 6 feet tall, so please no shorties.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | October 21, 2019 11:35 PM |

Tab may not have been very bright or talented, but he did get to enjoy Roddy McDowall's huge cock.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | October 21, 2019 11:48 PM |
r38 I think Tab is way deserving. He owned his gayness way before anyone else, when it comes to leading heartthrobs that is. He was forced out and then refused to come back because of whom he loved. Tht is worthy of a biopic in my opinion.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | October 21, 2019 11:48 PM |
R47, And, in contrast to his former boyfriend, Tony Perkins, who lost his straight virginity to Victoria Principal at 39, went through conversion therapy, married Berry Berensen, and fathered her children, Tab stayed true to himself and left showbiz rather than deal with the PR bullshit of playing straight.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | October 22, 2019 12:08 AM |
Tab may not have been very bright or talented, but he did get to enjoy Roddy McDowall's huge cock.
I did not realize Roddy had been in The Twilight Zone episode “To Serve Man”.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | October 22, 2019 12:24 AM |
Tab's butt in gingham short shorts. Those thighs!
by Anonymous | reply 51 | October 22, 2019 12:40 AM |
r51 The hunk with Tab is John Bromfield. He was straight.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | October 22, 2019 12:55 AM |
R47 R48 The counter argument is that William Haines was way ahead of his time, 30 years before Tab Hunter. He gave up his prominent A-List movie star career at MGM (he was the #1 box office draw in the early 1930's, something Tab Hunter could never make claim to) for his long term partner, Jimmie Shields. Then, he managed to make a career for himself as an interior decorator for the stars and the Queen while still being in an openly gay relationship; an extraordinary feat for his time period. There has been development work on this story for years and there was a crappy London musical earlier this decade. It deserves a proper movie as, considering how much power the anti gay forces have in this country and how half of Hollywood is still closeted, it's important that people know this man and his legacy. It takes priority over Tab Hunter, in my opinion.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | October 22, 2019 1:05 AM |
R54 Tab's thinking "Wedding ring or no wedding ring, I'm getting that daddy dick."
by Anonymous | reply 56 | October 22, 2019 1:15 AM |
OP's choice sure looks like Tab in this pic.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | October 22, 2019 1:35 AM |
Nobody is as beautiful as Tab Hunter.
Whoever they finally cast will come up short.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | October 22, 2019 1:41 AM |
Now that I'm thinking about it, I wonder if someone in Zachary Quinto's or JJ Abrams' camp started this thread to see who we thought should play Tab Hunter? There hasn't been news on this movie for months and now this thread just randomly appears here on the DL? My hunch is someone on their team is feeling us out. Hopefully, they take our suggestions and put them to good use.

Tab may be appearing as a character in Ryan Murphy’s “Hollywood,” however. Rock Hudson and Henry Wilson are both in it.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | October 22, 2019 2:45 AM |
I wonder how Ryan will straight-wash that show R64
by Anonymous | reply 65 | October 22, 2019 3:43 AM |
Will Ryan cast Gaga as Mamie Van Doren?

by Anonymous | reply 67 | October 22, 2019 3:54 AM |
R39 got it right! Chandler Massey would be great in that role. A great All American boy look
by Anonymous | reply 68 | October 22, 2019 4:01 AM |
I think Mason Dye would have this part sewn up.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | October 22, 2019 4:24 AM |
R69 Not a bad choice.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | October 22, 2019 4:33 AM |
What do you mean bad actor? This film trailer alone is Oscar-worthy!!
by Anonymous | reply 71 | October 22, 2019 4:49 AM |
R71, I watched that on TCM recently, and my goodness!, Tab was so handsome. I'm not usually into blonds, but Tab was fine!
by Anonymous | reply 72 | October 22, 2019 4:53 AM |
R69 Too bad he's short
by Anonymous | reply 73 | October 22, 2019 5:02 AM |
R68, perhaps Chandler is afraid of being typecast in gay roles?
Who am I kidding? He doesn’t get any roles outside Days of Our Lives.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | October 22, 2019 5:31 AM |
Charlie Hunnam
by Anonymous | reply 75 | October 22, 2019 5:36 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 76 | October 22, 2019 5:38 AM |
I drink Tab.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | October 22, 2019 2:42 PM |
And the funny, or sad, thing is R48, Tab died of old age while Perkins died of AIDS complications.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | October 22, 2019 5:20 PM |
Aaron Milo from the "Eating Out" movies. Maybe not as Tab, but I could definitely see him playing Anthony Perkins. I hope they're going to touch on that in the film.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | October 22, 2019 10:29 PM |
Wishful thinking R79.
The late Tony Perkins had no chest at all. His chest was half as wide as his hips.
His chest was as thin as a pipe-cleaner.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | October 22, 2019 10:41 PM |
Kyle Dean Massey, Broadway Star. Maybe he could play Tab if he went blond. I didn't realize how much him and Aaron Milo look similar. Both are gay. Also, Massey's husband, Taylor Frey could make good as the figure skater Ronald Robertson, who Tab was in a long term relationship with.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | October 22, 2019 10:46 PM |
Kyle Dean Massey

R82, I don't believe so.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | October 22, 2019 10:51 PM |
R81 Ronald Robertson, with whom Tab was in a long term relationship.
This little movie will avoid the last 40 years of Tab's life when he was unemployed and when he was moving from house to house and spending more time with his horses and re-asserting his Christian, Republican values.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | October 22, 2019 10:53 PM |
Scott Michael Foster.
He's tall, blonde and masculine Tab was so masculine, he was under the radar.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | October 22, 2019 11:04 PM |
As once DLer once wrote of Matt Bomber, Tab's eyes convey the "frisson of barely controlled hysteria."
by Anonymous | reply 87 | October 23, 2019 2:38 AM |
Chris Carmack! And he can sing
by Anonymous | reply 88 | October 23, 2019 3:11 AM |
Andrew Garfield as Anthony Perkins
Billy Magnuson as Tab Hunter
by Anonymous | reply 90 | October 23, 2019 7:01 PM |
Billy is too old.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | October 23, 2019 7:10 PM |
Luke Benward, 24, Blonde, tall (6'2") and handsome.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | October 23, 2019 7:32 PM |
Too fat.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | October 23, 2019 8:19 PM |
Yes, too fat. Not blonde or blond.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | October 23, 2019 8:28 PM |
R90 Yes, Andrew Garfield absolutely has to play Tony Perkins
by Anonymous | reply 95 | October 23, 2019 8:49 PM |
Well, at least Andrew has experiencing in being closeted in Hollywood.

by Anonymous | reply 99 | October 24, 2019 2:33 AM |
Quite fat.
by Anonymous | reply 100 | October 24, 2019 2:35 AM |
Billy Magnussen is 34 years old. Certainly not too old to play a man who lived to be 86.
by Anonymous | reply 101 | October 24, 2019 2:39 AM |
Obese.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | October 24, 2019 2:40 AM |
Agree, R102. Obese.
by Anonymous | reply 103 | October 24, 2019 2:42 AM |
Do any of these potential actors have yellow skin.
by Anonymous | reply 104 | October 24, 2019 2:43 AM |
He may not be fat per se, R99, but his features lack definition. Tab's cheekbones were carved out of marble.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | October 24, 2019 3:29 AM |
The actors have to be young, preferably in their mid-20s: Tab and Tony met in 1956, when Tab was 25 and Tony was 24. Their relationship lasted for 3 years.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | October 24, 2019 3:57 AM |
This is hard. They will probably pick unknown actors.
by Anonymous | reply 107 | October 24, 2019 4:27 AM |
Kevin Quinn

A Gay actor.

A Gay actor.
r113 This. The pattern of giving these biopic roles to straight actors and then congratulating them with awards because they're so brave needs to fucking stop already. It's gross.
Don't care if he's an American, though, I just want [bold]excellent[/bold] gay actors. Put Jonathan Bailey on that shit, dye his hair blond, and watch him clean up at the Academy Awards.
by Anonymous | reply 114 | October 26, 2019 6:12 PM |
Brandon Flynn is too short.
by Anonymous | reply 115 | October 26, 2019 6:31 PM |
I'd be willing to play the part as long as they remove any references to his homosexuality.
by Anonymous | reply 116 | October 26, 2019 6:46 PM |
r115 And he's not a good actor.
by Anonymous | reply 117 | October 26, 2019 6:47 PM |
You can film around the actor being too short, but you can't film around the lack of acting chops.
by Anonymous | reply 118 | October 26, 2019 6:48 PM |
R80, Tony's chest looks fine. I don't see any problem there.
by Anonymous | reply 119 | October 26, 2019 6:53 PM |
Ah, yes, Aaron Milo, that famous actor with exactly two acting credits on his IMDb page...
by Anonymous | reply 120 | October 26, 2019 7:12 PM |
I care if the actor is gay AND American. The outsourcing of both normal and iconic American roles has become ridiculous. Are young American actors really that bad these days?
Rhetorical question, I guess. But these casting directors could try a little harder.
by Anonymous | reply 121 | October 26, 2019 7:35 PM |
R120, Didn't say he was famous. Not sure why you're up your own arse about it. Most of the actors listed here aren't relatively known.
by Anonymous | reply 122 | October 26, 2019 8:29 PM |
It's ART, so we can't exactly talk about outsourcing. It literally doesn't represent a drop in the ocean of your GDP, if you're concerned about that. I hate what Trump has done to some people... national borders literally don't matter when it comes to homosexuality, especially when everyone speaks the same fucking language. So less jingoism and more humanism, for fuck sake.
But yes, (young) American gay actors aren't that great. And you can thank the entire industry for that for systematically excluding them from casting. No casting, no awards, no recognition, no role models to speak of... it'll be a while to get past that.
by Anonymous | reply 123 | October 26, 2019 8:31 PM |
r122 No one but you is up anyone's ass about it, dear. Why cast a non-entity with TWO acting credits? Bitch isn't even in the guild, probably.
You'd most likely get better results by casting someone off the street, if the bar is so low. Which I don't think it needs to be. Does that clear it up for you?
by Anonymous | reply 124 | October 26, 2019 8:34 PM |
Tab and Tony both had cut cocks so that should be kept in mind when casting.
by Anonymous | reply 125 | October 27, 2019 12:19 AM |
R125 How do you know?
by Anonymous | reply 126 | October 27, 2019 12:42 AM |
R90 makes a lot of sense. Besides, 25 year old men back then looked older than they do now. Unless they find some unkown German actor ?
Hunter was also a good guy. He took care financially of his numerous nieces and nephews when his older brother was killed in Vietnam.
