(CLAP!) (CLAP!) (CLAP!) (CLAP!) (CLAP!!!) [standing ovation]

WELL DONE, GURL!

Tyler Perry Studios

Tyler Perry Studios (TPS) is an American film production studio in Atlanta, Georgia founded by actor, filmmaker, and playwright Tyler Perry in 2006.

In 2019, Tyler Perry celebrated the grand opening of his newest Atlanta studio location; he purchased 330 acres of the former Fort McPherson complex in 2015 to make it the new home of Tyler Perry Studios. Tyler Perry Studios is one of the largest film production studios in the nation and established Tyler Perry as the first African-American to outright own a major film production studio.

Its newest location in southwest Atlanta;

It officially moved into 330 acres of the former Fort McPherson complex purchased in 2015. The 330-acre studio has 50,000 square feet of the site dedicated to standing permanent sets, including a replica of a luxury hotel lobby, a White House replica, a 16,000-square-foot mansion, a mock cheap hotel, a trailer park set, and a real 1950s-style diner that was relocated from a town 100 miles away; it also hosts 12 soundstages named after highly accomplished African-Americans in the entertainment industry. The soundstage dedications include Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis, Oprah Winfrey, Will Smith, Harry Belafonte, Diahann Carroll, John Singleton, Della Reese, Sir Sidney Poitier, Cicely Tyson, Spike Lee, Halle Berry, Whoopi Goldberg, and Denzel Washington.

This will hopefully mean much more diversity in writing; Many more acting jobs for a diverse acting population; Jobs period; and now... HOLLYWOOD EAST!

Fort McPherson

Fort McPherson was a U.S. Army military base located in Atlanta, Georgia, bordering the northern edge of the city of East Point, Georgia. It was the headquarters for the U.S. Army Installation Management Command, Southeast Region; the U.S. Army Forces Command; the U.S. Army Reserve Command; the U.S. Army Central.

Named after Major General James Birdseye McPherson, this fort was founded by the U.S. Army in September 1885. However, this site, had been in use by military units since 1835, and it was used as a Confederate Army base during the American Civil War. During the Reconstruction Era, it was named the "McPherson Barracks", and it served as a post for the Federal troops who were occupying Atlanta. With the end of Reconstruction, the McPherson Barracks was closed and sold off in 1881, though the site continued to be occupied during the summers by U.S. troops stationed in Florida. In 1885, the land was again purchased by the Army at which to station ten army companies.

In June 2015, 330 acres of Fort McPherson was purchased by actor/producer Tyler Perry to be the new home of Tyler Perry Studios. Tyler Perry Studios grand opening occurred on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019.

How do I send a manuscript to Tyler Perry's Assistant?

You don’t.

You need a specific entertainment and media agent. But more than that, you need an agent that Tyler Perry has worked with in the past. Tyler Perry absolutely will not look at manuscripts or screenplays that are not sent through an agent he trusts.

You also need to be living in Hollywood/Atlanta; scripts are presented at pitch meetings, and the screenplay writer needs to make the presentation him or herself.

If your story is in the form of a book, rather than a screenplay, you must sit down and turn it into a screenplay. Then you need an agent that Tyler Perry has worked with in the past. And you need to be living in Hollywood/Atlanta.

Yep. A lot of them were just at this event;

Sunday September 29, 2019 02:00 pm EDT 9 days ago

Cost: $100-$600

Sponsored by Bentley and Grey Goose, this exclusive, and all-inclusive luxury event, will feature the AFPC Championship polo match, a Derby Style Day Party, and the Miguel Wilson Fashion Experience Runway Show. Additionally, there will be live music, great food, surprises for VIP attendees, and special guests will be flown in via helicopter.

This event is put together by celebrity fashion designer Miguel Wilson, whose label, The Miguel Collection, is responsible for dressing many high-profile men in Atlanta from his store in Phipps Plaza. by Anonymousreply 20October 8, 2019 5:55 PM

It's impressive. Even Hilary and Bill showed up. I just wish his output was (a LOT) better.

I also wish he'd stop trying to take over the entirety of Fort McPherson. It's located between two stations on Marta and ripe for a dense mixed-used development as gentrification heads further south from West End. Perry would rather get all the land and use it for his studio, ensuring that it's nothing more than a dead zone.

by Anonymousreply 21October 8, 2019 5:55 PM

You go, gurl!!

[quote]Celebrating mediocrity, all he's making is madea fucks the world movies.

I never liked the Madea movies but they were quite popular and brought a ton of money in for him. But, there were 2-3 of his other movies that I did like and I found engaging. I liked the "I don't know why we got married" movie. Then there was one with Phylicia Rashād and another one with Kathy Bates that I liked.

It's a studio. So hopefully many other projects will flock there. That would mean better writers, stories, actors, etc.

I have to give him credit for what he’s achieved. He makes films for a black audience and obviously it has worked out well for him, he knows what his audience wants and they’ve paid him for it. The great thing about his studio is that other black filmmakers who haven’t had an opportunity to make their films in Hollywood, for whatever reason, will be able to do it at his studio and they could crank out some great films. I can’t make it through a Tyler Perry movie. No subtlety, strange tonal shifts from comedy to hysterical drama but the formula seems to work. So, good for him and with all that power maybe he can ease out of the closet someday.

by Anonymousreply 29October 8, 2019 6:38 PM

[quote]He makes films for a black audience

And hopefully, it will be his studio that will change this attitude. Does Hollywood make films for a white audience? A good story is a good story, period. But, I do hope this studio will just give greater opportunities to all--especially up and coming writers.

Tyler Perry plans to build a shelter for displaced LGBTQ youth, homeless women, trafficking victims

ATLANTA - Tyler Perry says he’s determined to add a shelter for trafficking victims, homeless women and displaced LGBTQ youth to his 330-acre film studio in Atlanta.

Perry recently became the first African-American man to own a major film studio outright with the Oct. 5 opening of the studio.

The studio’s grand, star-studded debut included many celebrity guests such as Oprah Winfrey, Samuel L. Jackson and Beyoncé.

“You know what, right now I’m dreaming about how do I build this shelter for trafficked girls, boys and battered women,” Perry, 50, revealed to Essence during the studio's grand opening on Saturday.

And, during an interview with Gayle King on “CBS This Morning,” the director expanded on his dream about providing shelter for victims of abuse and for LGBTQ youth who were displaced.

by Anonymousreply 57October 14, 2019 10:45 AM

LOL, R16!

You know what, though? I’m a city girl, who has excellent taste & know how to dress well for an occasion that calls for it. And while I, myself, wouldn’t wear any of those ensembles, & I also happen to be thin, I no longer criticize people who do, especially black men and women from the South.

Here’s what I did not understand, until I got to know people in the South, particularly black people in the South: African Americans have deep roots here. History. And that history has not been kind to them. So they found ways to find joy, when even that was denied to them, by withholding their freedom and basic, human dignity.

They wear loud, bold colors, and what others might categorize as ostentatious clothing, as a way to express their joy, which was usually found in their Sunday church services, where they were able to connect with something inside of themselves and within each other, that transcended conditions wrought upon them that were not of their choosing.

African Americans are THE heart and soul of our country. And that party thrown by Miss Perry was probably lit, and fun AF! I’d rather attend his soirée, given the choice, because white people? They don’t know how to get down and party. Trust.

Congrats to the man. Instead of talking shit, he’s making shit HAPPEN.

by Anonymousreply 58October 14, 2019 11:21 AM

I would anticipate that anyone would take joy and pride in whenever another one who looks like them achieves. It's a boastful pride and there isn't anything wrong with that. We all have our own cultures, soul food, etc and it is our differences that should be shared, enjoyed, and celebrated by us all.

This is a MAJOR achievement given the history of Black people in this country. It's also an achievement and a message that this structure and organization are built on land that has the blood of the Confederacy that fought to stop an event like this and a man like Tyler Perry from ever happening.

I'm looking forward to more creativity and stories to make its way to us all as more diversity is brought to the table to share their stories and experiences.

by Anonymousreply 59October 14, 2019 11:42 AM

by Anonymousreply 63October 14, 2019 12:13 PM

R59, preach!

I have a huge smile on my face because of this massive achievement. I couldn’t be happier for Perry and prouder, either.

This guy personifies the story of the American dream. And it’s high time Atlanta had something like this. I was just discussing the state of Georgia with of friend of mine in LA last night, who’s family has worked in the biz all of her life, & I told her, the African American community in the South will bring the South out of the prior century, even if it’s kicking & screaming, because unfortunately, white people from the South aren’t ever getting that job done.

And while I agree that diversity is the goal, people who have never lived here, (I’m an example of a person who was unfamiliar with real life in the South, until recently) are missing key factors about how things work down here. Money, big money, that is, is concentrated in the white communities, and is brought in from the outside. Perry’s an example. He had to make his money outside of the South before he could legit work and hire others and eventually get to this point. And while that’s not unique to most places, it’s particularly the way things are out here.

Racism is still on & cracking out here - BIG TIME. I wish I had time and space to share with y’all the bullshit the state of Georgia gets away with, in regards to state and city government, policy, education, healthcare, employment law, real estate law, building codes, city planning and development. The entire system is chaotic, dilapidated, archaic, and pre-historic, so to speak. And while outsiders might think that things are set up here, like it’s set up elsewhere, such as California, that would be the wrong conclusion. The South is a system set up to fuck over the black man, benefit and financially exalt the white man, and as human nature so often dictates, the white man is NOT gonna let that change.

Fortunately, African Americans, most notably women, are getting their education. They’re making sure their children do too. Men like Tyler Perry are bringing the money back here, and creating opportunities in order to change the game. Cities like Atlanta are leading the way, and the strongholds of class, racism, and systemic, generational poverty, will eventually be broken and eradicated.

But there’s still a VERY long way to go out here. While this is a HUGE accomplishment, it’s still a blip in a place that was made and created to keep the black man down, even though their ancestors broke their backs to create it.

by Anonymousreply 64October 14, 2019 12:17 PM

There will always be white and black people who will do everything in their power to belittle what Tyler Perry and most other highly successful black entrepreneurs accomplish. You'll see it no more apparent than with white gay men online because some white gay men set the bar on being hate filled bigots. And then you'll have a small number of blacks who'll look for any reason to be negative about someone like Tyler Perry, and it's primarily out of insane jealousy, I believe. But I think Tyler Perry himself said it best when asked in an interview what his response was to Spike Lee saying that Perrry's movies were an example of "coonery", and he responded "you know what Spike, GO TO HELL!".

by Anonymousreply 73October 14, 2019 1:00 PM

I have never seen one of his movies, but I have tried watching his TV shows. If a white person made the kind of stuff he makes, they would be accused of plantation-style racism, since it is so full of minstrel show stereotypes. But since he is a black person churning out this kind of entertainment and keeping the money among black people, he is celebrated ... and I give him credit for being a good businessman.

The one thing that bothers me about him is that time when he talked publicly about being molested by a man when he was a teenager and how his "body betrayed him." The judgment in that statement about how wrong he found his own same sex attraction was offensive. There were already plenty of questions about him being gay or bisexual, and he did himself no favors by telling that story. What does the gay community in Atlanta think of him?

by Anonymousreply 74October 14, 2019 1:17 PM

The Haves and the Have Nots is not minstrel. It's just that he himself has created so much "low brow" content to appeal to the masses that he might not have as much success transitioning his works/brand into something more substantial.

Its like music artists transitioning to acting, sometimes people will buy it and other times its DOA. But I doubt he cares at this point. He is working to give others a chance at wild success. Most of his stuff today is directed by other people.

by Anonymousreply 85October 14, 2019 1:53 PM

The Aaron O'Connell thing was barely hidden. Tyler Perry saw him in a commercial and thought he looked hot, immediately had him flown out to his home, and after that weekend he walked away as the first person cast in the TV show.

And this is what they admit publicly!

I couldn't wait to come in this thread and hear all the hate and jealousy. Not even hidden. You all are more upset about the black mogul thing than the crap movies or the closet.

by Anonymousreply 92October 14, 2019 2:49 PM

^^^THIS!!

by Anonymousreply 93October 14, 2019 2:57 PM

Tyler Perry used to sleep in his car and is another example of someone who started at zero, got the right breaks and worked his way up. I have mad respect for people like that. The closet thing is clearly church based and I know many like him, but they have made their choices and have to live with the consequences, even though I'm sure that his pile of money makes it a lot easier.

As for some of the hate... shade... or whatever in this thread, I can understand if it's closet based, but if it's not you all should be ashamed of yourselves. Tyler Perry made a great speech recently to a black audience where he said stop getting pissed off at the studios for the lack inclusion or inclusion for inclusion sake and just start working towards owning the studios and creating your own content. That's the message. Just don't make the Little Mermaid black and expect black people to be happy. We need more black creatives in the film industry writing, producing, directing, and creating black characters and stories and owning their own content.

His movies and TV shows, aren't exactly my thing, but someone is watching them and enjoying them, so more power to those folks.

by Anonymousreply 94October 14, 2019 3:01 PM

Do you post the same admonishments on LSA? The same stuff is said there... actually what's said there is worse. Some pounced on the announcement that Perry was opening/funding a shelter for abused women and LGBT. (And of course it was the LGBT that caused the "shade".)

Usually, if it's black gossip and it's something that I'm interested in, it will show up here on DL or it will pop up on Twitter. It depends upon who you ask.

The gay black wenches can't stand him because he pays them no mind and therefore they can't get a hold on his money. But, who in their right mind would want them? Any of them? Atlanta is filled with nothing but gay black, diseased ass, wannabes that hangout at the Lennox Mall. There is no substance to them. They all wear nothing but designer... copies/fakes. They put on rich airs but have the vocabulary of a fourth grader or simply can't speak proper English at all. All of them are HIV positive and most of them take nothing to help themselves or do anything else to stop spreading the disease. None of them really work. They're all models, publicists, fashion designers, hairstylists, design consultants, etc and barely have two dollars in their pockets... rather purses, to rub together. They spend most of their time and day searching for big dicks and raw fucking or better yet, fucking for a "come up." The rest of their time is spent in some Pentecostal church ie COGIC jumping up and down and babbling something unintelligible.

Some of this anger comes from a bunch of stereotypes and a lack of understanding. Being a gay man is hard, being black and gay adds a whole bunch of extra that some of you white gays will never get or truly understand. A lot of things you guys are calling Gay Black Atlanta out for, are things that you will find in many gay communities. Taking the risk that I will be called Mary!, but the things we all have in common are greater than those things that divide us.

OH, NO! Oh no, honey! No, you won't!

That city is filled with fakes and wannabes. The vast majority of them are hustlers.

One would think that with this major studio opening it would be the talk of the year among the black folk--ya know... since they're all models, publicists, fashion designers, hairstylists, design consultants, etc . But, the folks are barely talking about Miss Perry down there. They're too busy searching for big dicks and raw fucking or better yet, fucking for a "come up." This is such an opportunity for restaurants, real estate people, personal trainers, and SO many other ancillary professions to make money and opportunity here. But no...

The city with flooded with lawyers. They're nothing more than ambulance chasers. On and on... It's just a mess;

"I used to go to ATL to visit my family all the time and my cousins (who are males) would warn me before we even left the house because I had the habit of saying the first thing that comes to mind (still do) and if I saw it, I was gon' call it out (I'm getting better). We went up in Lennox and they (my cousins) were like act like yall our girls..We was like oh hell to the no but once we got up in there, it was (excuse my french, sorry if I offend anyone) ****** central!! And I'm not talking bout a gay male in jeans and a tshirt but I mean like dressed to the 9s like a woman!"

"Lenox is great during weekday lunch hour. Lenox at its WORST was during AllStar weekend. I missed the queenz then, it was full of wanna be thugz from around the world....I actually saw a chic in a fishnet outfit with the word "GOOCHIE" tattooed down her leg (If you are going to do something that damn outright tacky, at least spell the sh-t right). Jay Jay is not exxagerating. It is really ridiculous. There is gay, and there is G-H-E-Y, it's not even effiminate anymore, it's almost cartoonish. And too many dudes travling in "gangs". I advise anyone visiting Atlanta to shop at Perimeter Mall. Always a nice crowd (and some pretty good looking men too).

In most cities decent gays stopped going to the bars on the regular years ago and are either at home, tending to their families, or living quiet, non eventful lives. The bars these days are packed with hustlers, druggies & drunks, and lowlifes. Just look at the number of gay bars all over the country that have closed down over the last few years due to lack of business. Smart people don't go to gay bars to meet quality people.

Henson, Lyriq Bent, Jazmyn Simon, and Crystle Stewart, and follows a loyal wife who decides to take revenge on her ex-husband. Principal photography began in October 2016 in Pittsburgh. Acrimony was released in the United States by Lionsgate on March 30, 2018. It received generally negative reviews from critics and has grossed $46 million worldwide. It had a $20 million budget.

Perry's films are watchable and they make money.

Allegedly, Tyler got most of his Madea material from drag queen Miss Sophia, who is well known in the Atlanta gay community. Tyler regularly went to drag shows in the late 90s early 00s around Atlanta, and used the jokes and ideas for his plays. Miss Sophia says Tyler later put her in one his movies years later, so I totally believe it. Im sure he's also floated her some nice checks to keep quiet too.

Tyler really found a niche audience and made a perfect concoction of disarming drag humor and Baptist religion. The black community was so starved for content 20 years ago, Im not surprised at how successful he became.

Madea is not exactly coonery but made by a black company with blacks for blacks so I permit my whiteboy ass to enjoy it. Nobody cares! Some of it is technically more "Chitlin' Circuit" than coonery because the Chitlin' Circuit was all about blacks entertaining blacks in "broad" comedies and Christian pageantry. Can you explain why you would say that about Mo’nique, r180?

She was defending herself and not burning bridges by choice. I sympathize with what started the whole thing and then they were all like “you’re on your own.”

by Anonymousreply 188October 16, 2019 6:15 AM

R187 I think a psychiatrist might be your best option. Your anger is off the charts. I’m worried that you are heading for a heart attack soon. Breathe.

by Anonymousreply 189October 16, 2019 6:17 AM

100+ years of anger r189. You wouldn't understand. Not. One. Bit.

by Anonymousreply 190October 16, 2019 6:21 AM

[quote]Why did he do Mo’nique like that? All she wanted was some basic support.

Bullshit. Mo’nique wants basic support alright. She wants to be paid $5MM, a charter jet, a personal hair stylist of her choosing, a personal assistant, the presidential suite, meals flown in from Dave's Chicken Shack, fresh flowers daily, and Godiva bob-bons in reach at all times.

This woman destroyed her career.

by Anonymousreply 191October 16, 2019 11:51 AM

R191, Mo'Nique's husband/manager Sydney is behind all that. He wants his wife to receive the same diva perks as the top white female performers, especially since she's an Oscar-winning actress.

by Anonymousreply 192October 16, 2019 1:49 PM

R190 Im so sorry . You're right. I guess we whiteys could never understand how it was for you to be a slave. Oh,thats right, you werent. Neither was your grandmother, great grandmother and probably not even your great great grandmother. What you Are is a loser asshole who needs something to blame your undoubtedly shitty life and shitty choices on,ergo Im an angry black man ! Its a whole new world dear, and the next generation, who truly arent nearly as racist as previous ones, arent going to give you a pass because some very distant relative MIGHT have been a slave.

by Anonymousreply 193October 16, 2019 6:18 PM

^Dial it back, R193. You are going into places that you know nothing about.

by Anonymousreply 194October 16, 2019 6:27 PM

R194 shouldnt you be on Lipstick Alley or Black Twitter ? Im not sure your racial animosity fits in on a thread about that closet queen's shitty movies .

by Anonymousreply 195October 16, 2019 6:41 PM

@R195; I don't know who you think you are addressing gurl but these are toes that you DO NOT want to step on.

I think that we can all agree that Mr. Perry's movies are not classics but we should all take them for what they are. They are light fare to pass the time by. He's done quite well by them and is giving back to the community--even the gay community. I'm surprised that the gay community of Atlanta have not come out more with praise and support of him especially given his announcement about building an LGBTQ(A-Z) shelter. Those Black Queens in Atlanta, who are keeping their mouths closed comes as no surprise to me though.

by Anonymousreply 196October 16, 2019 7:02 PM

Perry's projects are such lowbrow crap, but good for him for making millions off of them.

He's kind of like the black Andy Cohen - absolute garbage peddler, but probably laughing all the way to the bank.

by Anonymousreply 197October 16, 2019 7:43 PM

Dear God some of you twats need to develop a sense of humor. Not everything on the big screen has to be highly intellectual. Did you complain this much when they made the 2 live action Flintstones movies? Those were about as moronic as any movie ever made. Did you complain about the Porky's franchise back when they were made. And there's not enough time or room here to list all the other lowbrow humor movies that come out every year. But to hear some of you talk, Tyler Perry's movies are so lowbrow as to cause a clinical dumbing down of society.

by Anonymousreply 198October 16, 2019 7:52 PM

But those white lowbrow directors were not lauded. The bar is always lower for non-whites. If you're white and you're not Spielberg, Scorsese or James Cameron, you don't get honored or thought of as anything special.

Jordan Peele is the same way, he's a competent B-movie horror director, and if he were white that's exactly how he would be perceived. Instead, he's hyped like he's the black Hitchocock. Again, the bar is lower for non-whites.

Mo'Nique On Tyler Perry Not Defending Her After Saying He Would: "..Feel Like You're Scamming Us.."

Would it have been THAT hard to have gone to Cannes?

Tyler Perry is not lauded for his movies. He's lauded for his contributions to social betterment. For helping people who need help. For providing jobs for many people at his studio. No one is claiming his movies are worthy of awards at the Cannes Film Festival, I'm sure including Perry Himself.

by Anonymousreply 201October 16, 2019 8:12 PM

R193: I'm sure it took a little bit of pushing to get the real you to come out. Now all you have to do is say all that to the first black person you come face to face with. But you won't. And if you think the effects of slavery aren't still here, you're exhibit A.

by Anonymousreply 202October 16, 2019 8:20 PM

I can't believe he shoots his crappy madea movies in like 6 days, but then again they do look like it.

LOL! White male victimhood....

How many decades have white males been doing this? How long have white males had access? How many mistakes have white males been allowed to make?

Minorities and women can't do King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (Production budget: $175 million | Loss: $150 million) or The Lone Ranger (Production budget: $225 million | Loss: $98 million) and expect to work again. BUT, because of such a massive failure like that it would hurt (or, just stop) other minorities and women from getting hired and/or getting their project(s) green lit too.

He could still fix the Mo’nique thing, especially because he’s supposed to be some kid of forgiving saint.

by Anonymousreply 206October 16, 2019 9:58 PM

Even forgiving Saints have their limitations.

by Anonymousreply 207October 16, 2019 10:14 PM

I agree, R207. What I think is funny is that it seems as if Mo'Nique has the support of the public. But, the public only supports her on FaceBook, YouTube, Twitter, and other social media. The public is not putting pressure on the decision makers to hire her. Her problem is that she believes her own publicity and whereas she could possibly place herself in a position of power, she has shot the gun too early and has ruined her career.

R193 has to be the biggest asshole I've ever encountered on this board, and I've been here since 2002. Russian trolls have more class.

Way to go, champ. You really are a piece of work and a piece of shit.

by Anonymousreply 209October 16, 2019 10:35 PM

A person in the closet for personal gain betrays the LGBTQ+ people he or she pours money at.

No, Mr. Perry. You hurt gay youth with your cowardice and selfishness of spirit. It's cunning, not generosity, when you build on a lie.

by Anonymousreply 210October 16, 2019 10:40 PM

But, to be fair R209, R193 only raises thoughts held by a great many. There are those who honestly don't think that the institution of slavery has any type of relevance to what is currently happening now. They feel that this is something that happened long ago and that everyone should just move on--even though there have been those who have tried to resuscitate the institution and its environment ever since 1865.

by Anonymousreply 211October 16, 2019 10:48 PM

R210 there is not one shred of proof that Tyler Perry is gay. Just a bunch of rumors, innuendos, unfounded claims and suppositions by typical gossipy and insanely jealous queens.

by Anonymousreply 212October 16, 2019 11:03 PM

"But, to be fair [R209], [R193] only raises thoughts held by a great many."

A great many think gays are abominations. A great many think women are not the equal of men. A great many think they can impose their religious beliefs on others. A great many think vaccines are immoral and should be illegal.

I think you catch my drift. Just because a lot of people think a certain way doesn't make it true or correct. R193 and his ilk are irredeemable pricks.

by Anonymousreply 213October 16, 2019 11:22 PM

r205 Gore Verbinski has barely worked since that fiasco. And Guy Ritchie was savaged for King Arthur.

by Anonymousreply 214October 16, 2019 11:38 PM

R212; This. And if he was, he has no obligation to let the public know. There's a difference between being on the DL misleading women and saying and doing things against the gay population, it's another to blab about everything in your personal life that doesn't necessarily need to be known. R210 just wants an excuse to be vicious.

by Anonymousreply 215October 16, 2019 11:42 PM

All the queens in Atlanta will disagree with you.

by Anonymousreply 216October 16, 2019 11:45 PM

I assume you mean the black queens. And yes, they probably would disagree with me. You can't trust a black queen filled with queer envy any more than you can trust a white queen filled with queer envy. It's unfortunate that some in our community set the bar a new high in being jealous, malicious, bitches.

by Anonymousreply 217October 17, 2019 12:24 AM

R217: This.......

by Anonymousreply 218October 17, 2019 1:03 AM

You can tell the motherfucker is gay just from looking at him.

by Anonymousreply 219October 17, 2019 1:10 AM

High-profile Nov. 20 event opts for Tyler Perry Studios over 6th District venue City Springs.

The Democratic presidential debate will be held next month at Tyler Perry Studios, according to several party officials, sidestepping the suburbs for the newly opened $250 million complex near Atlanta’s airport.

The studio was selected for the Nov. 20 debate after jockeying that pitted Perry’s studio in heavily Democratic southwest Atlanta against the sparkling new performance arts center in Sandy Springs, once-solid Republican territory that’s become increasingly competitive. The hosts of the event, The Washington Post and MSNBC, did not comment, and some involved in the negotiations said final details have yet to be hashed out. But Stacey Abrams, the party’s 2018 nominee for governor, said on social media that the “site is set” for the studio.

“@TPstudios is a model for Georgia’s vibrant film industry, an engaged corporate citizen and an exceptional location for our #DemDebate,” she wrote on Twitter, referring to the handle of the facility. “Looking forward to welcoming the candidates to Georgia on November 20.”The complex is the only major film studio in the nation owned by an African American, and the debate is certain to be a crowning achievement for Perry, a once-struggling playwright who, more than 20 years ago, had been kicked out of his apartment and was living out of a car.
