Why did Linda Fiorentino's career go straight down the shitter?

Tommy Lee Jones hated her in Men In Black.

She was most excellent in The Last Seduction though.

She outcunted the cuntiest cunts in Hollywood.

And she aged poorly.

She probably didn't fuck Harvey.

Talented actress. She didn't play nice enough and she reached her peak at a late stage for an actress (mid30s).

Supposedly, Tommy Lee Jones would only agree to doing Men in Black 2 if Linda Fiorentino was NOT brought back. Who knows what really went down between the two.

Kevin Smith, who directed Linda in "Dogma" said she was a pain in the ass to work with and badmouthed her for many years afterword.

Producers of a planned Georgia O'Keeffe biopic sued Linda, claiming she bailed out on them, effectively shutting down production. Linda countersued, claiming the producers added nude scenes and simulated sex scenes to the script without her approval.

If anything, Linda was probably too vocal and headstrong for Hollywood, à la Debra Winger. They want their young leading ladies to be pliant.

Her last acting credit was in 2009. Either she can't get work or she has essentially retired from acting.

I think it's hilarious that of all people, Tommy Lee Jones wouldn't work with her. He may be a great actor but he is a complete asshole.

Her ex-boyfriend was an FBI agent, and he illegally stole information about Anthony Pellicano (a Hollywood private investigator released from prison earlier this year after serving 15 years for wiretapping and other offenses on behalf of big-name clients). Pellicano had dated Fiorentino, and apparently she encouraged the FBI agent to take files so she could give them to Pellicano's lawyers and help his defense. Honestly, it's like something out of one of her thrillers. She was never charged with anything and stopped making movies ten years ago, around the time the FBI agent pleaded guilty to criminally accessing records. Maybe she's reunited with Pellicano, now that's he's finally free, and they'll live happily ever after, bankrolled by the clients he never ratted out.

I always heard she was a raging cunt. She's brilliant in The Last Seduction, though. It might have been a mix of her being a bitch on wheels and not having the warmth to play, say, a nice mother. Can you imagine her playing a mother that's not a total monster?
