Ellen was supposed to take the selfie with Meryl to "break the internet" with the Samsung phone to promote the phone. It was just supposed to be Meryl when it was pitched and Ellen was supposed to be the one taking the photo. The phone was already cued up for her.

Then she decided during the show that she was going to get as many people in the photo as possible and then push Meryl out of the photo to make that the joke as in there's so many people you can't even see her.

However, in mid bit she asked Bradley Cooper to take the photo and more people than expected jumped in (after she called a few over) and he managed to get nearly all of them.

The internet saw it as, Ellen got a selfie with a bunch of celebrities but that was never the original intent. It was a fluke that paid off for Samsung and Ellen.

Admiring Ezra Miller is major red flag. Hard pass.
