Anyone watching this show on BBC? It has a gay storyline featuring DL fave Brian J Smith.
It will air in America on PBS

Did they use this Ghost song for the soundtrack?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | October 3, 2019 7:29 PM |
Looks good, OP. I'll put it on my Watch List.

by Anonymous | reply 4 | October 3, 2019 7:33 PM |
I don't think they announced the PBS airdate yet

Brian didn't come out with this show? Is he waiting for the US release?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | October 6, 2019 1:45 AM |
I was all set to like it until I saw Helen Hunt and her wooden line readings.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | October 6, 2019 1:52 AM |
r10 thanks for that!
by Anonymous | reply 11 | October 6, 2019 4:20 PM |
r10 That was great! I'll just watch these compilations because war stuff gets me depressed.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 6, 2019 9:50 PM |
Gay gay? Or Fake Gay like Quantico and many other recent "gay storyline" shows.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | October 6, 2019 9:53 PM |
Actually gay
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 6, 2019 10:06 PM |
Thanks for linking to those clips, again!

Has the final part aired yet?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | October 15, 2019 10:18 PM |
The still looks like it features a young Billy Campbell.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | October 15, 2019 10:40 PM |
r17 Three of seven episodes have aired, but the gay compilation for last week's episode hasn't yet been uploaded to YouTube.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | October 15, 2019 10:44 PM |
Unfortunately, that uploader got into a bit of trouble and had to delete the first part, so you'll have to watch the show to see more of the gay stuff. Sucks, I know.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | October 28, 2019 3:13 AM |
R8 He did.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | November 7, 2019 5:56 PM |
r21 Okay, Bryan, but you should've done it during the press tour for the show, not now that it's almost wrapped up.

When did he come out? Did I miss something?

r23 Today, in Attitude. Ten threads about it.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | November 7, 2019 6:03 PM |
Is this worth watching because I love Lesley Manville.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | November 7, 2019 6:06 PM |
Apparently people have been complaining because Helen Hunt's face is a 'distraction'
by Anonymous | reply 27 | November 7, 2019 6:31 PM |
r27, she looks like Eric Stoltz in Mask in that shot

[quote]PBS is joining the BBC for a second season of the Helen Hunt-fronted war drama World on Fire and has set a premiere date for the first season.
[quote]The U.S. public broadcaster will air the first season on Sunday April 5 2020 on its Masterpiece strand but has already signed up to co-produce the second season of the period thriller ahead of its premiere.

Looks AWFUL.
HARD pass.

Can't believe it's going to take until April for this to air in the US.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | November 11, 2019 7:15 PM |
Who's watching?. The effects are excellent. The twinks are cute
by Anonymous | reply 32 | April 13, 2020 3:15 AM |
Had to turn it off. I just can't watch all that violence.

Finished watching season one of this British mini-Winds of War, which hung cliff for season two. Instead of someone Jewish, the pre-concentration camp detainee is Brian J. Smith's black French African boyfriend. Can't wait for next season.

I honestly like the show - cinematography is beautiful. But I can NOT watch Helen Hunts face - it is just way too distracting. It’s like making the Elephant Man into a character actor - you just can’t get past how twisted and distorted the face is to even pay attention to the action or what is being said.
I sat through a whole episode - and the entire time I kept thinking “when is that face going to come up again”. May be superficial - but I have never had this reaction before (except for the kid/patient from the Shriners commercial who they pretend is Bob Hope). The face is just a huge distraction from any type of character or story development.

Is anybody still watching this on PBS?
I just finished watching the most recent episode and I'm really enjoying it.
But I completely understand the shock at looking at Helen Hunt's distorted face.
Too often she reminds me of Eric Stoltz in the movie Mask.

Just finished streaming the season finale! Wow. Suspense. Scenery. Keen on the gay love story. Also love Jonah Hauer-King as Harry Chase--love his thick eyebrows.
Did Nazi's really fly huge red banners on all their buildings? Where would they get all the fabric?

R37 He is a hottie! I'd love to see him in a Fair Isle Sweater.

No. Everything was black & white in those days.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | May 19, 2020 1:25 AM |
Don't mention Helen Hunt's face because there's some fat old queen on the DL who's sick of hearing about it. Maybe we can't track his other complaints.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | May 19, 2020 2:59 AM |
R41 Let's keep this thread focused on the hot men!
Sad part about PBS airing some British productions on PBS is that they blur out male nudity. Also some swear words and blanked out.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | May 19, 2020 3:39 PM |
They show Sam Neill's ass a few times in the spy series and it was when he was at his young, gorgeous best.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | May 22, 2020 10:30 PM |
I mentioned it on another thread but, man, I had to turn it off because Helen's face was so distracting. Will I miss anything if I FF through her scenes?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | May 22, 2020 10:50 PM |
I lasted several episodes of World on Fire before deleting it from the recording list. They actually succeeded in making the start of World War 2 tedious.

I don't care about that but the series was excellent. It made Sam known internationally.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | May 22, 2020 11:14 PM |
This show really is tedious. I can’t believe it got a second series.
